The same thing that is good about the PS3. It plays a wide variety of video games. You see, they are both video game consoles.

PS3. 90% of the games are on both, and personally, I think PS3 has better exclusives (God of war 3 and Metal gear 4 comes to mind). I sold my XB360 just because PS3 overall is better

God of War 3 isn't out yet.

Metal Gear Solid 4, while amazing, plays just like any other MGS game. And Sony pissed off Konami enough that Konami's breaking the trust with Sony and making the next MGS game for 360.

The point being:
The PS3 "overall being better" is ridiculous. Yes. It has some fun games. But they're few and far between, given that Sony has been pushing the fact that the PS3 is a Blu-Ray player. Watch the most recent ads that're out there.

It's gone from being "Get in the Game" to "It's The Do Everything Machine".
Heck, they've even tried to use the fact that at any given time, provided you've given consent, your PS3's processing power is hijacked for the Stanford "Folding" program, which is part of mapping out a genome.

i am a true blue(green) xbox fan, have been for years! Anyways, me and my roomate debate about this ALL the time, its just a matter of personal taste, in reality it boils down to supporting an American Company or a Japanese one.
I'd say Xbox, but also if you dont have a blue ray system the PS3 is the CHEAPEST blueray player on the market... and then you get to play games on it?!

Actually, Metal Gear Rising will appear on both xbox and PS3 ^^ It will be a more arcadey, less stealthy game featuring Raiden, putting it more in-line with the action games that are popular on the xbox.

The next canon installment (Peace Walker) is appearing on the PSP so both the PS3 and 360 lose out :p

Bup bup bup. MGS: Rising is slated to hit the 360 only, unless Sony decided to backtrack and do something to get Konami back.

But it's worth noting that, Kojima was officially confirming at E3 that it *WAS* 360 only. But eh. It might have changed since then.

I own both consoles but I prefer the Xbox 360.
I like backing up the whole games to the HD and the interface.

It has. About a month after E3 :p http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_Gear_Rising

Kojima is a bit full of air, by the fact he is a 'senior consultant' into Rising (he has stated he wants a more hands off approach after MGS4) and so whilst it is Studio Kojima, it is in fact an entirely newer prospect. He has stated he dislikes programming on the xbox and the image that comes along with it (Konami had a bad time with the original silent hill games on the xbox, stating it's demographic just didn't 'get it')

He is however pouring much more of his time into Peace Walker (the demo of which is awesome)

It wouldn't be in Konami's best interests to just stop making things for Sony, so Sony 'clawing them back' makes no sense (Rising and Peace Walker were both announced at the same time, so Konami knew full well that it would be multi-platform) and Kojima himself stated that the new Castlevania (which he is also helming) "simply must be on the PS3"

I'm not to fussed, as in the land of the MGS console wars, the PSP is apparently king lol

To answer the OP, go for your gut feeling. Both systems are awesome, and both rightly worthy of your time...just don't go crazy and buy a Wii :p

That makes me quite annoyed then.

But oh well. I have far better games to play, like Mass Effect. You can go suck it Hideo Kojima with your LIES!

Lol, don't feel too hard done by man. The games industry is shallow like everything else Kojima is known for his grand proclamations and waffling, he just happens to make some awesome games so we put up with it :p

Also, I heard on the grapevine that we PS3 users may get Mass Effect after the success of Dragon Age on the PS3, so I'll hopefully be right there with you

I sincerely doubt that.

Dragon Age wasn't designed to be a platform exclusive like Mass Effect was.

I have a PS3, I like it a lot. I like xbox as well, but the reason I got a PS3 was to be a blu ray player first and game player second. it does both real well. I also have a Wii that I haven't even turned on since getting the PS3.

So by your statement, Halo should be on PS3 already.

Bioshock wasn't ever meant to be a system exclusive, not like Halo or Killzone were for their respective systems.

Please remember that the 360's development process is very similar to a PC's. Hence the ease of transferring from 360->PC/Games for Windows.

theres a million shooter/multi player games on both systems, as far unique original games..... not much that is system exclusive on either system.
and p.s. Halo is garbage, they took a potentially great game franchise and destroyed it to the slave maker of muliplayer online.

I have a 360 myself but I will say that by far the best game I got to play last year was Uncharted 2 on the ps3, it was far better than any exclusive we got on the xbox and I didn't touch the multiplayer.

If it weren't for the majority of my friends having an xbox I would prefer a ps3.

I would prefer the 360, due to the cost effectiveness of it as well as the sheer amounts of games that come out for it exclusively depends on if you are a halo fan or not as well as call of duty. With the variety of games it is really whether or not you want a multi-player system(360) or not(PS3)

Do you seriously need a blue-ray player, or do you need a hi-def DVD player (both are dvd players) cause there is so many errors on the 360 you can send it back to some place(not to sure where it is, i've only done it once like a year ago) since then there has been no errors and the warranty gets extended by a year. i fixed my 360 that was having hardware failure without sending it back (it's out of warranty now) but it works good as new seriously
