Two models that gave me fits were a metal deff dread, which still gives me nightmares years later. Also one of the old battlewagon models. I picked one up maybe 16-17 years ago and it was a living hell. Part of it may have been that when I built that battlewagon I was just starting in the hobby.

Killa Kans...... It dont think that any of the parts where actually ment to fit together... when you finaly get to 2 torso pieces to fit together, you need to use a drill to make a hole round enought to fit the arm piece in the socket. When you drill the hole, the torso pieces split apart.... rince and repeat.

To assemble 9 of them...... well you have to invent new words because the old ones seems to be worn out.....

Monolith and Drop pod.

All the sides never line up correctly because all the molds come out bent. Then putting all the little pieces in the drop pod is such a pain.

Right now I have a Shadowsword that is really intimidating me. That's a lot of plastic.

As if on cue, you hear two people singing from the stairwell, and the door is opened and a pair of very smelly, very dirty guardsmen stumble in, completely drunk, and covered in vomit, and immediately collapse unconsious on the porch. I had a *radda* of a time putting together the Master of the Ravenwing. So much pinning and rubber bands were used!

The Greater Daemons of Slaanesh and Tzeentch were a pain too. As were Pink Horrors.

While I know not many people have had to put this together, Im going to have to say the FW Chaos Dragon. When the wings that connect to the body dont line up because they are a quarter of an inch to long? That not only making it look odd but the details dont match up!

I had no problem with him, just use a ton of glue on his feet and midsection. The little flags on his back suck.

Thats all I can think of, I just really wanted to say LRC bolters though, I hated those things!

Well Techmarine from the Thunderfire kit was a real pain. But simply because its the only complex metal model I own. I HATE superglue and metal. If it was plastic, it would have been a pleasure to assemble.

I think the most flawed designs I've seen are the Elysian infantry. All the bits fit together in very specific ways, and the figures are all hunched over.

Also, good luck modifying their weapons. All the left hands are molded onto the grip of the lasrifle, and the lasrifle is the same piece as the right arm. All the special weapons that come in the Elysian Special Weapon Pack are lose weapons. No molded on arms or hands. Have fun chopping!

It really pissed me off, to be honest, and is probably why I haven;t invested more time, energy and money into the Elysian army I've wanted to do for about... forever. I mean, it's SO obvious. I honestly can't fathom how they overlooked something like that.

EDIT: Also, yeah. Drop Pods. Out of the 4 pods I've made so far, I've only gotten one crooked door, so I'm overall happy with my results. it's just so dull having to do each step 5 times.

Wow looks like I've avoided the worst of things so far. Metal models definitely cause me the most grief. The only real difficulties I've had were
1) Necron Immortals: overall good, but the green rods usually don't like to fit well into their gun.
2) Necron Wraith: Massive Pauldrons are Massive and like to drop off before the glue can dry. Also, good luck posing the arms.

That was an old Ral Partha kit and while a really cool looking kit, was a HUGE pain in the butt to assemble!

My worst is the current plastic Landspeeders. I swear those body sections will not fit right!

Yeah, the Exorcist is a horrendous kit, especially since you get no instructions. I helped my brother build his, and while I didn't have any trouble with the organ pipes, the part that they sit onto (the U-shaped metal bit) just doesn't fit. I had to file it down, cut parts away from the Immolator body and swear repeatedly for about 30 minutes before it'd even fit.

Most of my models I pack into boxes/foam carrier cases, but I have a shelf 'devoted' to models that like to fall apart. Currently on it is the aforementioned Exorcist, a Hive Tyrant, 2 Greater Daemons, and a Blood Angels Honour Guard Standard Bearer. I imagine my FW Scythed Hierodule will take pride of place on that shelf too once I get to build it (had to send the main body back to FW because of damage).

I know I'm going to have to pin everything, and I'm going to use epoxy instead of CNA for the main joints. Anything else I should know about it?

WINGS!!!!! These are Super-Heavy!!!! make sure you pin them with coat hanger sized pins (two if theyll fit) My first one, I trashed it in disqust..... probably my 3rd or 4th mini. It turned out FREAKIN AWSOME!!! but after the wings broke off three times, i got pissed. *what can I say, I was like 12*

That damnable Exorcist :(

A basic rhino kit with 18 separate metal pieces that require variously pinning/filing/un-warping/green-stuffing/cursing to get into position. Couple this with the lack of instructions and you're looking at at least a couple of frustrating evenings to get it assembled.

Oh, and it must weigh in at nearly a kilo when it's finished.

Although I have little new to contribute, as they seem to be on everyone else's worst of:

Thunderfire Cannon. However, I read of other's travails beforehand and was prepared with my dremel tool and patience for that center collet.

Necron Immortals - this was the first metal minis I ever did, and I used no pins and epoxy. God. God. I still remember the rage. I've since switched to superglue and pins.

Necron Wraiths: I have a really hard time, even when pinning them, keeping the arms from falling off or breaking at thta joint.

First up, a Ral Partha mini for Vor: The Maelstrom (oop)

Shard Eradicator: A giant metal model that had 6 arachnid-like legs that had to be individually pinned, and they had to support the massive weight of the rest of the model. The arms needed extensive cutting and pinning themselves, and my modeling skills were not all that refined at the time.

2nd: A tyranid Lictor. I have no idea why I had so much trouble with this particular miniature, but it took me forever to glue together what should have been an easy miniature. The arms were giving me trouble, and the torso kept breaking off from the legs. Very annoying.

3rd: Chimera kit. I never was able to do this model's tracks right without sitting in front of the "Step-by-step" directions on game workshops website.
