I'd say Catachan infantry squad arms would be better, if you can get ahold of some - they're super beefy.

I agree with Master on the catachan arms, they're huge and can really help in body proportion issues when it comes to large extremities.

I also really like the most recent iteration of the flamer traitor; those crypt ghoul arms look really nice! They provide a slightly corrupt, sinister look that isn't excessive (which I feel people thought was the case with zombie arm). Also, they make the model look less silly and more frightening, so I'm all for that new arm.

Keep updating at your pace, and get done what you can. I definitely understand the problem with getting models just the way you want them. I'll keep an eye out for your updates!

Hello again!

I've working a bit on my PCS these last evenings, just adding some gear & pouches... Coz most of the WH40k come out with too few equipment, IMHO... Indeed, what kind of soldier goes straight in hell's maw with just a lasgun, and SOMETIMES an extra magazine?
So, off we go with strapping as many pouches as we can!

So here they are!

All except the Platoon leader are ready to get painted... As for the officer, I'm waiting to find the perfect idea for his backpack...

Ok so here we are:


The Crypt ghoul arms are terrific IMHO!!! Also added a small skull hanging from the flamer


Added a CCW & pouches


Other pouches & grenades!

Next is the newcomer, the Meltagunner!!


Went through a lot of bitz for him, especially for the arm wielding the meltagun!!

Finally, I found some parts to add as a sort-of backpack... My aim was not to give him a regular rucksack; he's the commander after all, his minions can carry his gear! I want something more techy, maybe that can power his oversized weapons... So came up with this

My only "helpful" suggestion is that the bearded guy's head seems to be riding a little high and too far back. But then his is a chaos dude after all. Might also be the camera angle.

Yeah... Not many updates for summer... Laziness in taking pics, and it's so much easier to wander through the other threads than spend some time on my own!!

Though I have completely built-up the other 4 lasgun troopers from squad 1, and a complete penal legion squad!!!

I cannot get myself to paint them for lack of a good paint scheme... and I still don't know how to properly base them!

Still, I'll try and get pics for all of them... Tomorrow maybe? Argh, no, there's Bones on Thursday evening, and my GF won't forgive me if I miss it!!!

Yes, one of my aim was to avoid having to greenstuff as much as possible, for my sculpting skills are far from wondrous... So I guess I chose to put the head a bit higher than necessary, to avoid cutting his hair and have to GS some others...

But it hasn't struck neither me nor my GF, who definitely has an annoying knack for finding out when a mini's out of proportion... And of course blatantly mention it!!! I guess that's the camera then...

I agree... He was supposed to be the test mini for the standard troopers, but he ended up my favorite one in his squad!!! Well, almost... I'll show you later...

I do agree both his arms & head seem oversized... For they are!!!

Still, when it comes to Chaos, I guess you cannot really avoid some weird mutations... This one got a "Big 'Ead" uh!!

well you could just say she is the flower in the corupt garden of Nurgle. Or that she is the representive of Nurgle's little slave on who he test's his deseases how is she called again? i dunno there is some writen on her in the Daemon's armybook i dont know if its in the codex.

Lol!!! Yup, sorry Dude, I do am a French, ignorant 40k-hobbyist... Though the first battle report I read, the one that sucked me up into the Hobby, was a WHFB-one, depicting a covenant of Pestilens Skavens & Nurgle Daemon being cast away by lizardmen in the Lustria jungles...
I have such fond memories of that WD issue...

Back on topic, my apologies to all Goblin fanatics out there, they're River Trolls!!!! I just want to mention, as a excuse, in France they are called "Trolls d'Eau", which translates into "Water Trolls", not "River Trolls"...

Anyway, they'll - eventually - get turned into renegade Ogryns, so probably "Swamp Ogryns" will fit them best!

Nice! The robes and torso armor go very well together. You've got a good sense of motion in your poses, too.

Must say that the one thing you could improve is matching skinnier crypt-ghoul arms with similarly skinny gunbearing arms. Cadian on one side, ghoul on the other doesn't really work.

Heh, I knew I'd seen that arm somewhere. Been meaning to pick up that quartermaster for a while, for that very reason It's just I know there's a bunch of other stuff on FW waiting to grab me by the wallet when I appear

Aaaaah.... FW... I spent nearly 400€ at last French GD... Way over the limit I had set myself, but, as I was pushing through the catalogue, I couldn't help but repeat to the FW vendor : "Oh, and one of this, and one of that, and 2 of those..."

As for updates, I forgot my camera at my sister's house, so we'll have to wait a bit for them...
