Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

Now, I'm not saying that all TOs are old fat guys....

But there is a stereotype about gamers. Beardy, smelly, awkward....unique at best. And to go the extra length to run a tournament....

I was just not expecting a normal looking, normal sounding, everyday cool guy. I'd expect to see you playing beach volleyball, not rolling dice on a table.

I watched an awesome movie about beach volleyball starring C. Thomas Howell. Does that count, provided my extremely liberal interpretation of the word "awesome"?

I just wish someone was running a tourney like this on the West Coast or that I didn't spend all of my vacation time on softball tournaments this year. Sounds like a winner; looking forward to highlights to the entire weekend.

I'm wondering if I should resent that since I am one.....

I actually feel slightly offended, like I should be one. You guys get all the cool ... b/c you're the image in the heads of gamers everywhere when they think of glorious tournament organizers.

/sadface :(

(PS - Be proud of the way you are and look, naturally ... and if you aren't, change it. This isn't complicated, and offense shouldn't be taken by anyone.)

I played 40k in a suit like that yesterday! Except I had a light blue shirt and a dark blue tie. ><

Stelek barely beat Dash. Tied on the first two objectives, won the third objective. Dash was winning early, but Stelek pulled it out in the end. Too bad, I was hoping Dash's Orks would kick ass, but they definitely put up a good show.

Hulksmash beat Danny Internets, so gratz to him!

Jawaballs beat Shattered Hands

Chumby lost, I forgot his opponent's name.

Good games to all! It was fun watching the live feed.

Any more details? Hulk beat Danny? Good for him! Thanks for updating!

Note that Stelek's win over Dash was a pure Draw by the standards of any event other than this one. They were inside the 10% draw range, from what they said on the live feed, so it's only a win by NOVA's rules which permit no ties, so grant one side a win even if the margin is 1vp.

Actually, Stelek has laid out the order in which 'dexes suck and... orks aren't at the bottom. In fact, quite a bit up

Note that Stelek's win over Dash was a pure Draw by the standards of any event other than this one.

I find it kinda amusing that the NOVA is lauded as being one of the only competitive 40K events... Certainly says something.

And Chumb (Frodo, lols) played stjohn70's Sang. Guard list and lost.

I guess BBF called that one.

Though being within the margin of a draw has got to count for something I guess.

To clarify, I don't mean to criticize NOVA by pointing that out. Within MVBrandt's chosen format (no ties allowed) you definitely need SOME kind of final tie-breaker, and 1vp is probably as good as any. I just think that GW (and most gamers( are right to consider such a narrow margin properly a Draw. They had a Draw on quadrants, objectives, and a very small VP margin. NOVA is a competitive event. They've made some unusual choices as far as their missions go, but each event has the right to do that. Varying challlenges keep the players on their toes.

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

Well considering…

Stelek is a master list writer,
Is unbeatable on the table top,
Is playing one of the 2 best codexes in the game

What does that say that he just barely non-lost to what he thinks is a very poor army.

I donno, luck swung both ways that match if you look into the details, either way, by my standards, I am happy it was closely fought and not a blow out.

Sounds like everybody had a decent game of dice and the dice favored those that won. For the most part, all of these players are good, and I would expect a fair amount of back and forth in wins if many games were played. Hope everyone had fun!!! This won't stop the hyperbole, notr should it, any good personality needs to create a level of drama to make these games worth knowing about. Otherwise, it would just be another game played.

Did you even read the BatRep and understood it in its entirety?
Technically it was almost a draw, but Dash actually got beaten up very badly. It was a turn 5 draw, and could have been turn 6 win by Stelek, and turn 7 tabling by Stelek.

Though I still think Orks are a good codex, Dash definitely brought a poor 2k list to the game (despite him always claiming how good he is with making ork lists). But to be fair, I think he played well with the poor list, also considering the SW is one of the best codex around (besides IG).

Which is fine. Except for the fact your playing a WARgame. Which by definition is designed to represent the tactics, and strategy involved in the conduct and art of war be it historical, or fictional. Wars, battles, and bar fights end in draws. In fact one could argue that especially during certain era of history that a “draw” was the more common outcome of conflict. Conflict in real life is not black and white and neither is it in the 40K universe. So if your playing a miniature WARGAME… whatever system you decide to play is certainly your business but in my opinion should allow for the condition that is mandatory for the exercise.

But it's okay for people to do it when the person isn't allowed on Dakka to defend themselves?

Enough with the double standards, please. You guys claim to treat everyone equally, be they a "named" player or not, perhaps its about time to actually start doing that.

Good lord...

It's not OK to do it to anyone, hence the note in general to the thread. Also, that kind of language is unacceptable here (Rule #1). They are just toy soldiers... nothing to get so upset about?

What exactly are you talking about?

Dakka has a long standing rule of NOT allowing 'attacks' on people who are unable to appear here and defend themselves.
