Heh, thats interesting. I find it rather tame compared to most. I don't see the wide spread fanboi fights that plague other sites, nor the horrible waste of space caused by the phishing scam/spammers you find on comment boards at the big "game sites", or any of the rage directed specifically at XXX guy from XXX company for lies to the community.

Generally speaking I find dakka dakka to be a much more friendly internet community than most. Thanks in part to our all powerful moderator overloards.

I was kidding, though I do think this thread has gotten ponderous and uninteresting.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

LoL isn't as bad if you aren't playing ranked, but HoN is just obnoxious.

True, LoL isn't as bad when you're playing ranked, but still, there's plenty of low-lifers in ranked too... If only I got a penny each time I saw someone on LoL with worse social skills than me (and I'm pretty bad, although not in a way that anyone would notice in a game)...

Odd, I consider the Halo Community to be pretty good; but then, I consider the Halo community to be Rooster Teeth and Co. I would never have played those games as much as I did if not for them.

I think Gears of War has had the worst community I have played, especially on Ranked. Glitches (That add "Skill"), getting TKed/booted if you picked up the host's gun, stacked teams, and those people who thought if you kill me with anything other than a shotgun or 3 Active Downs with the Sniper Rifle, you suck.

The Best community I have been in was probably WAR; people just handed stuff out to you if you could use it. I can't tell you how many Chosen Shoulder Plates I got when I was playing as one from Marauders, Disciples of Khaine, and Shamans. It's a shame that game was horribly imbalanced for Order.....

Also, GW seems to have a bad community. I'm a build tinkerer; you hand me a build that works, I break it down and try to figure out some other forms of builds using that. Nope, that's not going to happen with Groups! I was always a Ritualist, and during one Farming run, I was asked to help them out with Damage. Instead of building a sup-par Damage Build, I go with Weapon of Quickening, decreasing Recharge times by 33% and a general support build. NOPE! Got booted, despite me knowing that that build works well, solely because it wasn't something they had seen before....

I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.

And that's why I stick to guild runs for stuff like that. That and I generally can find someone who's accepting of a deviant build. I think if I ever got my Paragon to level 20, people will start flipping and calling me out for not using "Watch Yourselves!".

Except for furries. Dakka's still not great in that area *thinks back to the last thread*

This reminded me: the whole of the Steampowered forums. I can't give any specifics because the whole thing is just a seething pit of idiocy given form, and after even the briefest of glances at anything contained within one can feel one's mind being scoured and rotted by it. Even /b/ does not have such a palpable effect.

GoW has an interesting community. Its pretty chill as long as you snipe and shotgun because really, using the lancer gets really annoying. I've made a lot of friends from GoW

This way I only notice good communities as on Red Orchestra or its mod Darkest Hour.

Confused

I've found diablo 2 to have a horrible community. First battle.net game, couldn't find any games for low level players among the endless list of Baal runs, so I created my own. I got joined by 2 people! Yay! Except both of them posted a load of advertisments. So eventually I got to nightmare mode at level 40, mostly on my own since almost everyone was on hell mode already, when a level 99 dropped in, laughed at my barbarian's kit, before turning hostile halfway through and slaughtering me. So I went back to solo mode and completed the game with a barb (twice), a druid (twice) and a paladin. Never regretted it.

TF2's competitive scene designs their games to be rock-paper-scissors, bitches constantly about how the game should be designed around their ideals/main class and writes 'open letters' when they don't get their way.
SC2's community is just bad. Just because it's SC2.
CS:S's community is the most elitist d-bag group you will ever meet, and those who aren't spend most of their time pissing around on surf servers.
The CoD fanbase is terrible in general. The current-title games are full of 12 year olds and tryhards, where the older ones have some of the worst FPS players ever borderlining physically challenged.
WoW is an amazing game and was one of the greatest ever made, but its gameplay was made horrible because of the people that thought 'God forbid that I should have to play more than an hour every week', and thus came the dungeon finder and badges. The original areas are still god-tier and wonderful though.

What is wrong with the halo community other than the retards who blow into the mic? At least its not like COD where the only word people seem to know is "F.A.G".

Consoles are a different monster all together.

Gears of War is pretty bad. Left 4 Dead and Counterstrike are some of the worst I have been on.

The L4D and L4d2 communities are some of the best I've seen. People are usually pretty helpful and talk about tactics and stuff over the mic. I've never been insulted on l4d I don't think. I play it on pc, so my experience may be different though.

The Starcraft 2 community is pretty bad. They care about nothing but winning at all costs; it's almost like they aren't even trying to have fun with the whole thing. If you are just a little behind on rescource production or something they will be like "wtf you noob" or "stop trolling or leave the game". Now I'll admit that I'm not the best starcraft player, but that crap is unnecessary.

Honourable mention go's to UT2k4.

I had a real good experience with it since I focussed on clan play. But whenever you did a random server, most of the time there was already a flame war on.

It would seem so indeed. However back on topic, Dawn of War Retribution has some VERY rasshøl aktige ( Norwegian foul word) members, I dont have the ability to count the times I have been subjected to rage, capslock and other thing.

Mesopotamia. The Kingdom Where we Secretly Reign.

Any game where the neckbeards playing it take it way too seriously gets my vote.

I don't play with my headphones on unless I'm in a party with irl friends. My wife, on the other hand, craves arguing with them. It's pretty hysterical to hear.

It is pretty funny to watch your friends and family stir up the neck beards and 12 year olds. I have a friend that sits there and taunts everyone while he plays Halo. He can be losing and he will just say crap to piss them off. I think that is the best time I've ever had on Halo come to think about it...

I actually got really good at GOW, ranked top 10 at one point for ranked games. Communities bad, if you use anything other than shotgun or sniper, your supposedly a noob. Makes it hella fun though. Playing mansion, being the last one left on your squad, rev the chainsaw and let them panic. The amount of games I won through people quitting is ridiculous.

WOW was pretty bad, played like half an hour and quit.

Halos good, but only in freindly games, you do get alot of hardcore gamers

Battlefield is really good I find, people rarely talk, but I just join a squad as a medic, and buzz around reviving people
