Why doesnt anyone ever seem to think that the Golden throne "Failing" is really the Emperor about to be reborn, and all those Psykers being sacrificed to him for the past 10,000 were his plan for him to be reborn and launch the second great crusade an lead mankind onward to a victory over the Ruinous powers.

The pyskers were to power the throne, because it takes a lot of power to keep a dead guy alive. Also, the Golden Throne canonically keeps his body and mind alive. If it fails, his mind ceases to work. Yeah, he might become a god, but what worth is a mindless god who can't think?

As I said earlier, I think humanity will survive due to its adaptability, something a lot of the other races lack. However, I doubt the Imperium and the Emperor will.

Normally when a body die it's mind dies too that does not mean it's gone forever atleast in this case it obviously would go to the warp, where like the sensai who he is made of will be reborn again.

In my opinion he'll probably be destroyed by the united forces of the Chaos Gods if his mind went to the warp. He'd been weakened and on their turf, just a sitting duck. The Emperor is more powerful than any individual Chaos God (even Khorne), but all together they'd destroy him.

My theory goes that this is true now, and is why he doesn't ask the custodes to gut him now. He is pooling energy in order to safely return to his former glory, when all the gods feared him. He's not going to destroy all four chaos gods on their turf as some say, IMO that is ridiculous, just return to the material realm safely where he can deal with them from afar.

Tau are adaptable (far more so than the IOM, as they actually know how their machines work) and have developedd a very impressive tech base in a very short space of time that is constantly becoming more advanced. Their fluff has them adapting their tech over the course of a campaign to counter nids that are trying to out evolve them in turn.

Nids are very very adaptable, as their 'tech base' is extremely rapid forced evolution. Some hive fleets adapt faster than others, but they are all continually evolving.

Orks are nothing if not adaptable. They may not be smart, but they are no-where near as rigid in their roles, tactics or tech as the IOM.

Eldar and dark Eldar are static, even more so than the IOM, as everything is stylised.

Necrons don't adapt much either.

Humanity at present is about halfway up the adaptability scale, fluffwise. In real-ish life we are far more adaptable as a race than the current incarnation of humanity in 40k, but the IOM is not prone to innovation (it's heresy) especially when it comes to tech (HERESY in capitals). I would love to have an innovative human faction that isn't IOM or IOM with spikes on

As to the 'BIG E will become a new god when he dies' thing. Maybe, maybe not. There are some bits of fluff that can be taken to support it (not many, mostly outdated by an edition or so or from BL) but nothing very definite, which leaves it to the IOM fanboys to proclaim it as unassailable fact

I would be ok with it if it did happen in the fluff, if only to move the story forward, but i'd be more wowed with what would happen if he didn't. Would the IOM hold together without him, or have a nice civil war, or whatever That set of possibilities is far more interesting to me than 'rofl- your race will be curbstomped now '

Heretic! All of humanity must be united under the Holy God-Emperor of Mankind!

But in all seriousness, it would be good to see. Considerably less grimdark than the rest of the universe though, which might make it a problem. Either way, it's a shame to know that the massive strength of the Imperium probably won't be enough. But I think that as much as the Emperor is a uniting force, humanity would stick together in the event of his demise. After 10,000 years of aggressive xenophobia, in addition to the dangers forcing them together, humanity is a very unified body. But, I think with the Emperor and Ecclessiarchy gone, alliances with races like the Tau and Eldar are much more likely, as well as a renewed interest in technology. Cooperation and independent research could probably lead to a final triumph over evil. But in order for that to happen, the IoM has to collapse.

The IoM is doomed. It's like their thing. Everything about them says borrowed time. They don't renew themselves. I guess bige E might just wake up and do a brake dance, but it dosen't fit.

Also why do they need the big E to come and save them? Can't they save themselves?

Okay, so apparently the real short story has been lost but I found a discussion thread in a guy's blog for it...

http://ceramite.blogspot.com/2010/12/horus-on-throne-eh-wat.html

Basically it boils down to this: Horus lived through the fight and the Emperor died, when the two were found, Horus used his psychic powahs to trick the loyalists into thinking he was the Emperor, therefore, Horus would be sitting on the Throne and would be being worshipped by a galaxy spanning Empire that at the same time, curses his name...

First of all Malcador would see trough it ( he was the 2'nd most powerful psyker in the Imperium. ). Second, if the Emperor died truly then nothing of this would happened today as he would kill all of the Chaos Gods before he would reborn ( Star Child ). Third, Horus wanted to make Milky Way one big Eye of Terror witch not happened. Fourt, if that would happened Eldar would react since they are not to kind of their galaxy turning into the Eye of Terror. Fifth, any further objection of my claims will be considered heresy and it iwll result in *BLAM*-ing.

Personally I think the IoM is screwed. The Emporer is dying, and any theories on his rebirth are pure speculation. For all we know he could have been dead for 10,000 years and everyone is being told that he's alive to give them hope.
If the timeline is ever advanced, I think the Imperium will go down fighting against a horde of xenos, daemons and heretics in a massive epic battle. After years of fighting the IoM will be shattered and destroyed...until Ward retcons it.

1. Malcador was the 3rd most powerful psyker after Magnus.
2. The Star Child theory is complete speculation. It seems to me that you're buying in to Imperial propoganda.
3. Horus didn't want to turn the galaxy in to a second Eye of Terror. He wanted to rule mankind in place of the Emporer.
4. The Eldar wouldn't be able to do anything short of invading Terra itself. That wouldn't end well.
5. Oh yeah? Well I'm the God Emporer of Mankind and I disagree.

If GW is about to go bankrupt they may try it, just to give the universe some sort of end.

Also isn't it accepted canon that Horus was obliterated. This is also assuming that he cloaked the Emperors body while it was halfway across the galaxy to look like him, and that the Emperor's Children purposely cloned the Emperor, because the theory says the other Primarch's knew of the treachery.

The Emperor lives...since the BRB tells us so.
GW could ruin it and end the species. ( mind you, it isn't Endtimes of IoM, its endtimes of humanity. ) But they could move slowly towards a more desperate struggle, nearly ending it and then crashing the company. "The sacrifice of the Custodian bought the Emperor time to deliver a finishing blow to Horus. With iron resolve, he gathered his full strength and delivered a massive psychic blow that killed Horus almost instantly and obliterated his very soul. In his final moments, the powers of Chaos were driven from him and the Emperor sensed his favored son's return to sanity for a fraction of a second before he finally died."
