Oh no, I was only joking, I vowed never to get back into GW games and I plan on sticking to that. Ok, if someone lent me an army I could of course go as far as playing the game....but I won't spend another penny on GW products

If there's open gaming time, then we need to look at Maelstrom - it's the only large venue that allows non- GW. Automatically Appended Next Post: MeanGreenStompa wrote:You could get a mantic army of squats...

Ah well now you have my attention. Hope I can make the date this time, but the weekends around Easter are peppered with weddings (really wish people would stop getting married).
I shall focus my efforts on Necrons just in case though

I'd love to see something in the midlands (or at least the middle of the country somewhere ).
I'm hoping to start up an Infinity force this year, so would be interested in some Infinity side action, but would be bringing out my trusty CSM again for 40K as my main gaming force

Where abouts do you play in the Midlands, We're looking to expand our Infinity gaming group, maybe you'd like to join us?
On that note, maybe we need to take "names" on who would rather have an event in the Midlands and who'd want to go further south. If there's enough interest in both locations, theres no reason why we couldn't have a "North" and "South" UK Dakka event.

Definitely not a GW if you want to play any games, simply because of the number of tables. WW being the obvious exception.
Another thing, is that I believe that most Dakka events as far as I know have been over 18s as well. This is for various legal/insurance type reasons I think.
As I think that Mercer organises tournaments in the middleborough area for northern types - check out the find a game/tournament section.

I think Ketara showed that if you're willing to put something on, the Dakkanauts will come. Canterbury really isn't the centre of the UK, but he got a good attendance from all over.

Ok, so Maelstrom looks like it's available on the following dates before summer...
Feb 18/19
May 12/13
They're reluctant to book anything in August because they 'have plans' but then there is more availability from Sept.
What do people reckon? I'm happy to phone up and organise the booking...

I'd favour the May date as it gives me time to finish my Crons. My attendance would rely on finances though as Nottingham constitutes lot in petrol/accomodation. Might look into cheap train fares...

They don't exist.... Seriously they really don't appear to exist, they supposedly do, but i'm yet to see any 'cheap' train tickets.
I would be very interested in a Dakka meet up, May sounds like a better idea than Feb, just gives everyone a bit more time. Should hopefully be able to attend if its in May, depends when my exam (only one..) is.
Another Platinum Devil sounds great, I had to miss the last one :( but if its around Easter time, I might not actually be in Canterbury which would suck.

Cheaper to drive mate. Trains are only cheap if you book 6 months ahead and travel at 3 in the morning inmy experience.
Car sharing is the best bet. It wins on a environment side plus everyone like a Jolly Boys outing from time to time.
Ketara and me drove up to WW last time, it was certainly allot more interesting than going all that way on my own!

Yes, a quick perusal of the interwebs reveals that cheap train tickets would indeed be much the same as petrol costs. Grr... why is it so expensive to travel in this country? If I was a transport planner, I'd get right on that... oh, wait a sec

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

http://www.redspottedhanky.com/ is about the best deal for rail tickets in my experience. I quite often use them for travel to London. Not much cheaper than petrol but a lot quicker...
They also take Tesco clubcard vouchers on a two-for-one basis.
