SoB vs Eldar would be a much bigger "Girl Getter." If GW was really worried about female income, they would actually have made updating SOB a top priority. Even if that meant consolidating them into the GK codex.

6th edition lands on June 23rd!

Good news. This is the best time in the hobby. Full of promise. GW lets us down each time and we know it but secretly we're hoping that this is the edition that GW gives us a balanced game that can also be played competitively at tournaments. I'm loving it.

Goes against Hastings? That's almost the same as saying "Is wrong".

I think these rumours seem the most logical so far. I just don't see SM vs evil SM in a starter set. Eldar would seem like a logical choice. Edit since spelt wrong on phone.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

I suspect that income generated by women in GW is too low for it to have a determining factor in what codexes are replaced. That's part of the reason why I think the rumor is incorrect.

Thanks Redemption post 30 memory has been jogged . From those posts, it seams that it was more speculation on Harry's part based on him hearing that the Chaos and Eldar codexes would be released soon after 6th landed.

Harry wrote:I had Eldar and Chaos in the starter set based on the fact that I had Chaos as the first codex of 40K and Eldar as the second.

OK. I officially give up on reading rumors and trying to guess what is next. To me it sounds like GW has found the last of it's leaks and plugged them so no info gets out about what is coming next. The ONLY thing that is for sure is that DA is coming when that picture on the WD spines is finished. That looks to be about half way done so... aug, sept. oct. something like that. (Hopefully they put them in WD because I want to read all the posts complaining about how DA got dwarfed!!! ahaha)

Stikk bommas are special among ork society for one reason - They know when you pull the pin out of a stikk bomb you throw the bomb not the pin!

It wouldn't be too unreasonable for the boxed set be Dark Angels vs Eldar with a Chaos Codex somewhere nearby. Or Chaos vs Eldar with a Dark Angels codex nearby. Or some combination of those.

Do you ever get the feeling that GW is the world's most successful troll?

GW has gone from rumor lockdown to rumor falsification.

Maybe they're trying to crack down on rumor sources by feeding false info.

Or maybe 6thEd is acually only going to be Codex: Xenos vs Codex: Power Armor.

A Codex Cannon would hurt though, I think.

Even moreso if 40k follows the recent WHFB trend of switching to hardcovers...

@ Kanluwen Yep. It is also possible that all these rumors are true but were at different stages of development. At one point it could have been one or another, cover art done, and then GW changed direction. I think it is funny to see Tau back in the rumor mill suddenly.

I think Dark Angels this summer sounds more likely than Chaos. The concept of a Chaos release is too closely associated with the lies spread by ghost. Rumors follow a cyclical evolution, somebody starts a rumor and others feed off it and add to it until it grows and takes on a life of its own.

I have that picture of the girl with the gazongas behind her Eldar army... but other than that I've never seen a girl playing Eldar, let alone Warhammer. My girlfriend plays, but she plays Tyranids, and in all honesty doesn't -play- nearly ever.

June 2013, perhaps?

But seriously, this is getting weirder by the day. I doubt GW will release so many codexes in such a short time, and do 6th edition in between. So either there are a lot of false rumours, amongst even some of the more reliable rumour sources, or GW will do something unforeseen, like update multiple codices in short order. Some White Dwarf codexes perhaps?

I don't know about you, but them releasing new Codices for some of the oldest/underperforming armies would be rather unforeseen.

My wife plays Eldar (and no, that isn't her in the picture... but distraction tactics are very Eladresque ). perfidious eldar temptresses....

My daughter does too.

I've run into several female eldar or DE players, more female Nid players. Girls and Nids... My daughter wants to start a pink and purple nid army

SOB seem to be mainly played by guys, in my experience. I've yet to physically meet a female SOB player, though i've run into several online on forums (assuming they are the gene\der they claim to be ).

I think we can get a rough idea of what GW is releasing in the near future by going with their past policy:

Summer: Marines vs. Spiky Marines in the 6th Ed. set.

Fall.: Marines, either Angels or Templars

Winter: Grudgingly, a non-Marine codex is released, but it sucks.

And life goes on.

Maybe it's the ever feared "Geedubs went wrong" release.

The release that may sound cool or promising, but when mortal eyes gaze upon it and its unexpected hideousness thousands of Rage threads launch across wargaming forums. Wargamer blogs are thrown into long winded fits and disagreeing commenters. And posts in other places may as well be translated by little children making angry pew pew noises.

Either that or a "big summer release" thingy like that Storm of Magic or New Fantasy Edition
