Always ALWAYS run your Battlewagons with:
Deffrollas
Armor Plates
Boarding Plank - (You should have at least one Power Klaw in the Battlewagon & you can use this on your Assault phase and theirs, as if charging ie Str9 PK swings)
Red Paint - (move 7" and still shoot out of the BW but they are Hitting you on 6s if they try to assault you, move 13" and another Ork Battlewagon can't Boarding Plank you but if they moved 12" or less you still get to boarding plank them. )
Grot Rigger - (can drop it if your Big Mek is inside it, only if you need the points)
Stikkbombs Chukkas - for the Boyz Mobs (Nobz should carry Stikkbombs themselves so they don't need it on their BW)
1 Big Shoota
===============================================
Optional but still fun & effective:
Grabbin' Klaw - (Grabs any Vehicle, even Walkers & Flatout moving skimmers, on a 4+ so it will not move during it's turn. That means auto hitting with your boarding plank during his assault phase, Walkers you still use your WS but they didn't get to Assault you during their turn & they don't get to swing back when you use the boarding plank )
Wrecking Ball - (Beginning of Assault, before charges are made, always Hits on a 4+ and Str9, on any unengaged UNIT, not just vehicles.)
1 Kannon - (Can shot it as a frag Str4 blast and still shot your Big Shoota if you only move 7" or less. Can help a bit vs Bugs and other Hordes)

The main problem with Green Tide is A) Lack of mobility, and B) It takes too fraggin' long to move 180+ models.
You also don't want to footslog nobz or meganobz. The latter have S&P, and both suffer from ID from S8+ hits.
Unaware of the SoCal slaughter....I'll have to look into it.

Am i reading prophet of the waaagh wrong? i thought it gave your whole army fleet for 2 turns and any rolls to move count as a automatic 6, so thats 6 for slow and purposful and 6 for fleet. makes for a very nice power klaw assault range.
Please let me know if i am wrong on this cos my eyes are still shocked at the thought of such a charge lol

This is interesting, I thought the plank only worked on your turn, is their a source for that in case it comes up in game? If that is possible, I do believe I'll be adding klaws/planks to my wagons. With the amount of skimmer these days it makes sense. On a related note, how the heck do they work? I've looked all over YMDC and can't find a definitive answer. Does the vehicle have to be within 2 inches of the klaw/plank itself, or 2 inches of the wagon?
Sorry to derail, just thought it interesting.
On top, I still find orks pretty competitive. It might just seem like we're not since the codex is old enough everyone has seen what we bring and generally know how to combat it pretty well.

Boarding Plank is 2" from the Hull of the Battlewagon, any part of the hull. And yes, it's both Player Assaults
Grabbin' Klaw is 2" from the Klaw itself. This is done at the beginning of your opponents movement, before he tries to move anything.
All the Mech and skimmers out there is why i added my Grabbin' Klaws. And they are super Orky
"Only Orks can put a giant klaw on their Vehicles that can be Grabbin' a flying skimmer!" hahaha

You are reading it wrong. It gives you fleet for 2 player turns - yours and your opponents - which is less helpful to you in their turn. It only counts as an automatic 6 for the Waaagh!/run roll - not any difficult terrain (ie slow and purposeful roll) you need to make. So Meganobz move as per difficult terrain (highest of 2d6), run 6 for Prophet of the Waaagh! and then assault as per difficult terrain (highest of 2d6).

Without FAQ, the second part appears to be inconclusive/hotly debated. I direct anyone's attention to ork boarding plank query to make themselves aware of the arguments for and against and be prepared to find people who vehemently disagree with you - either way

It doesn't give your opponent fleet - it's just fleet isn't very useful to *you* in your opponents turn (but you still get it in your turn)

I think shoota boyz are one of the most under rated shooting squad in the game sure bs 2 but they have 2 shots each in a squad of 20 or 30, that is quite a few hits and you can still charge and cc that turn.
For ranged attacks I like big guns, the grots are bs3 and the kannons 3 per squad can do a lot in the game consistently except for land raiders..

make them shoota boys.
Nothing like pumping 300+ shots into some prized enemy infantry unit and watching it melt away just due to number of dice thrown...
30 wound powerfists can be fun...
Load up three meganobz (all with different wargear so you dont lose any until four unsaved wounds)) in a trukk and you have a P. klaw cruise missile: point at enemy and fire

I honestly think Orks are pretty mcuh the best army out there. This is why.
Very good written rules.
Very good options through out the codex
Very good Characters
Why they lack the top tier armies if you will is.
Most Ork players think like Orks.
Most Ork players are there for the fun of seeing orks die in masses. and laughing about it.
Most Ork players don't care about winning.
Now if us Ork players would stop having so much fun at playing Orks, then I am sure Orks would be a high tier Army.
Makes you think huh.?

Kan wall FTW!!! I saw someone mention how ineffective kan wall is, i run a kan wall and there has only been one army i cant defeat easily. The new gk purifier spam. Any other list in any codex i have taken down.
Over 100 games with my kan wall, less than 10 losses, almost all to grey knights. 2 losses to space wolves who jawsed my big meks.
Orks are competative against all armies that dont have the words "grey knights" on their codex. Even then a non cleansing flame build is susceptible to orks.

I am not sure how you lose to purifier spam with the kan wall. Assault the purifiers with the kans and you don't have to worry about the cleansing fire power.
But the Kan wall is an awesome list. I play it all the time. i am about the same with win ratio. I don't have to play GW's where I play so thats a plus. Nor Space Wolves. I love whee I play. People play to fluff of armies and there is no powergaming going on here. It makes the games very enjoyable.

Frightening Flamer of Tzeentch
|
Played a 1k game against mainly footslogging orks tonight with my IG.
It was a close game, but one thing my ork playing friend had that really bothered me was a kustom force field on his big mek that gave all units within 6" a 5+ cover save. So all his ork boys either side of the big mek got a 5+ save against my template weapons like my LRBT and manticore as well as autocannons etc.
That was a real pain in the ass until I managed to take out the Big Mek and whittled down the rest enough for my blob to survive the Wagghh and close combat.
I think using little 'tricks' like this can make them competitive.
Honestly I think if you run a horde list with 300 Boyz, a KFF mek and a few support units (Nob bikers) that in itself is a list that would be competitive against anyone...Even against a template-heavy army list or a flamer-heavy list that amount of bodies on the table is going to be very hard to deal with. Green tide.

The kans never make it under massive psycannon spam. I am lucky to get across the middle of the board with them, and well, we all know how boys vs purifiers is going to go...Grey knights purifier spam are the absolute best shooty army. Being able to put out around 80 str 7 rending shots at 2k is rediculous! Kans taking 80ish str 7 shots have no chance.

I would say orks are the best shooty.
But seriously I don't assault with my orks. You don't need to worry about cleansing fire when there is no assault. They are still Marines and will die when they have to make 14-15 saves. especially they are probably running 5 man squads. Doesn't really scare me.
I can understand they have alot of shots. I do too with my 30 Lootas. I also run Dreadsso that extra armor can save a couple shots going to Kans. I am not saying it is perfect by any means. But I am not scared really. Orks are the Best!
