Thanks! What self respecting Blood Angel wouldn't want to add more bling?!

Hi, dumb question, but what white primer are you using?

It's a white primer from a UK auto/hardware store called Halfords. It's their generic white primer. I'll post a pic of the bottle when I do my update if it helps.

Which one out of interest?

I'll post a pic of the can in the next couple of days for you

Thats looking great so far

I can tell you used some dark vengeance stuff and you made it look like its a proper BA kit

The wings on the tank look superb, by the way!

There are only 2 things that I would look into that would make it look even better:

- drilling the flamers :p
- perhaps thinner highlights on the black panels. I dont know if that was intentional or not hehe

Cheers and keep up the good work!

That is one big BA army you have there, and your painting has clearly improved over time.

I really like what you have done with the Dark Vengeance bikes, any chance of an army shot soon?

Oh dude, redgasm!
I'm very pleasantly surprised you found a use for the Sang. Guard wings/barn doors. They look absolutely brilliant on that predator, and that librarian's shield. Good stuff man.

Cheers guys.

I'll try and do a BA Army shot soon, it's been a while since I got all my toys out

I was going to do a separate blog for my Chaos stuff, but since I update so sporadically, I thought I might as well make this blog over all my hobby projects,

For the last 6 months or some I've been working on KDK, I've probably got about 1000 pts painted, up to now. I don't have pictures of everything but I have got pictures of my Jugger Lord, and some Flesh Hounds, which I've just finished (using the Chaos War hounds Fantasy kit, as much as I love the proper models I just can't justify the cost currently £30 for 5, comparted to £15 for 10 Warhounds):

Lord:

Hounds:
Squad 1:

Squad 2:

Ooo that's an awful picture...
As you can see I’ve used different colours on the fur for squad markings.

I've also been busy working on some 30k Alpha Legion (which I'll also probably use in 40k to be honest, since the new Traitor Legions rules are so damn cool)
Tac Squad:

Vet Squad:

As you can see I'm doing my vets in purple, just to make them stand out a bit more on the table. I’m also colour coding the knee pad as a squad marking.

I have also posted some feeble attempts at free hand over the 2 squads.

Technically I started the Tac Vets and Flesh hounds last year and have only just finished them, and I’m going to try and log my completed models for the year, so Jan is already looking healthy at 30 models, which means it'll probably be the strongest month as I certianly won't be completing that many models in a month for the rest of the year

Next month I’m going to try and get 10 Custodes done. Stay tuned!

Really nice freehand work on your Alpha Legion.

It always seems a shame that Space Marines have some of the most suitable armor for freehand work but not much reason to do so fluff wise. It's good to see someone really take advantage of the opportunity to go nuts with extra detail.

How long does it take to paint each model? (If it's not rude to ask)

You don't understand! I coulda had class. I coulda been a painter. I could've been on the front page, instead of a lurker which is what I am.

Couldn't say exactly how long they took. I've been working on these 3 units on and off for about 3 months. I'd probably guess about 6 weeks, with maybe an hour a night?

In short long enough, lets just say I'm not excited by the prospect if doing the second squad!

I'm with everyone else, the free hand effect is striking! If I can say on the complex paint job, try to batch paint the layers by color. doesn't look great until it all comes together but when it does the whole lot is finito. I'm balls deep in a tedious paint scheme myself, so I sympathise lol! Keep going! More more more! For the dark gods!

I am now accepting commissions for any hobby project! I've been in the hobby since '92. Specializing in traditional brush methods, creating a gritty dark aesthetic. From single character models to entire armies. From individual terrain pieces to entire table tops. From tabletop level to masterclass level painting. From purchasing and assembly to leveling up your assembled armies paint job. If it has to do with the hobby I can do it! Hit me up and let's chat about your project!

Hi EDC,

Nice updates here, as mentioned by some others above I am seriously impressed by those Alpha warriors, it may take some time, but the finished effect is definitely worth it in my opinion!

The metallic, the freehand, the colour choices all adds up to an awesome look!

Looking forward to future updates whenever they might be

Your Reds on the Blood Angels are awesome! Also love the depth of gradient you've got on the vehicles and drop pods!

Nice work on your Alpha legion too, looking great, I'll keep checking in to see your progress for the remaining months

I'm doing my own thing because it's fun. And it takes longer, which means more entertainment value for my cash. So there

Thanks for the comments guys.

Currently working on 10 Custodes from the BoP box, which I'm aiming to get done this month as my club is wanting to run some sort of defend the imperial palace mission.

Other than that I finished painting up some KDK blood tithes tokens, which I'll post with the custodes at the end of the month.

I'm trying to burn through alot of my backlog this year, whilst buying a minimum number of minis, so there's gonna be a tea mixed bag of KDK, Alpha Legion, Blood Angels, Tyranids, and Space Wolves. Not sure what I'll do for March yet, possibly some KDK and Nids stuff.

The BA look stunning, and the KDK are awesome, but those Alpha's are outstanding, the freehand and colour choice is superb. Really stunning work. So nice to see something different, with the scales and chains, I bet they will look amazing as an army on the board.

EDC!

First off, I can't believe I've missed this blog!

Second, Your blood angels look fan-freaking-tastic brother. Your reds look just amazing. I love the kit combos you used, and your Devs look great. I love how ornate you made them look, very grim-dark

Then by the Emperor your Alphas are just mind blowing. Then free hand symbols and scales... what a work of love man they look fantastic.

Seeing your work, I am humbled for your comments on my blog, well done man well done. Did you air brush the blue and then high light green?
