Glad there wasn't any of that SPOOKY PINOCCHIO stuff that was making my eyes roll out of my sockets with the last two. Looks like they gave Stock Female Character #4 some fancy high-tech weapons, so maybe she and the other lower-power heroes will feel less out of place in this one. I like a lot of the new visual design such as the villain, the big Iron Man Armor, whatever that wispy-power was.
Negative I'm a bit worried about being introduced to two new characters for the first time in a big team outing. The trailer is still making this one look a fair bit "darker grittier", which would be a huge deal breaker for me. Some of the action shots look a bit awkward.
Did you legitimately call Quicksilver and Scarket Witch new characters?
To be fair they are new to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I tend to judge perception of "new" or "to complicated" thru my wife who has zero knowledge of marvel outside of the movies. To her they are new characters.

Most people don't read comic books. This is a fact that many in nerddom seem to have trouble with.
Regarding the movie being too crammed with characters...it's definitely a risk. IMO, the problem you see with many sequels that the studio/director/etc. put the desire to give audiences MOAR ahead of the storytelling.
Personally, I thought that the plot of Avengers was awfully thin, although probably necessarily so with all the characters to balance. If Whedon and Marvel have gone down the path of MOAR characters, MOAR wisecracks, MOAR action set pieces, MOAR banter, MOAR superpower tricks, a villain who's MOAR powerful and nasty...it would raise some questions about much room is left for plot and character development.
I think Whedon may need to have (had?) an even steadier hand on the wheel than he had the first time around.

How are they not? I've never seen either so much as mentioned in the other movies outside that one stinger.
Unless you're expecting me to be familiar with the comic versions, which would be difficult given I've never picked up a super hero comic in my life.
EDIT: (see post below this one) The same goes for anything that might make Black Widow seem like less of a stock archetype. If they did it in the comics it doesn't count because I and a great many other movie goers have no familiarity with that material, and have no interest in becoming familiar with it.

It's hard to say because there's no one else visible to compair it to other than Iron Man who doesn't really count, but Vision seems to have a distinct lack of bulge for that kind of costume material. I mean that makes sense given robot and all, but I wonder to what effort and budget they might have spent in production and effects to remove any prominence there throughout the movie and that thought just amuses me.

You can hear Burt Ward weep.
The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

Anyone else more excited for the next Star Wars trailer than the Avengers movie? I'll be going to see it in the first couple of days, but mainly for the trailer.

I have almost no faith in the Star Wars franchise anymore. However, I do not doubt that Avengers 2 will at least be entertaining on some level.

I'm not that hyped about trailers, but I'm more excited about Mad Max: Fury Road than Avengers 2. MM looks insane, and I think I'm getting Marvel movie-ed out already. I'm sure Avengers 2 will be lots of dumb fun, but I feel like I've seen plenty of these characters smashing stuff recently. *shrug*
I almost wonder if they should be showing less and not more in their trailers, etc. I kinda feel like I know exactly what to expect from it, and how it's all gonna go.

No.
Actually, I want Mad Max: Fury Road to be good, but I'm more than a little worried about the path it has taken to finally get released.

Here we agree - movie trailers need to hint at more and show a lot less - we're all (mostly) going to see this movie anyway!

You think Widow is a "stock female character"? Oh give me a break...
For once I'm going to have to agree with HBMC Widow is not a stock character, especially in the second Captain America movie where she's given almost the same amount of screen time as Captain America.

So, guess that confirms why Banner turns on Stark (beyond 'we need the Hulkbuster in this film!'), predictable but still awesome. As for the scene itself, WOW! Awesomeness in its purest form.

Yeah, methinks the sound engineers could spend a little more time on it.
I kept wondering if James Spader was hiding behind the robot doing the talking. It doesn't sound like Spader playing Ultron, it sounds like Spader playing himself.
And somewhat counterintuitively, I feel like their attempts to give Ultron more naturalistic human movement just calls more attention to the CGI.

No, but then, I'm not even going to see star wars because I couldn't give less of a feth about that entire franchise.

Yep, it's also confirms that Tony is in full control of his armor and squashes all of the "But you don't see him in it..." talk that was floating around here a while ago. I am disappointed to see that Hulk is fighting him because Scarlett Witch is apparently messing with his mind (which was proposed on the other Avengers thread because in the first trailer there is a tinge of red in his eyes), because I hate the "mind-controlled conflict for plot convenience" that superhero movies often do with a passion.

Spaders ultron voice sounded great until the clip reds8n posted. If it's gonna be that clean and clear throughout the entire movie I will probably be a little annoyed. Otherwise I'm loving everything I've seen so far.
