Yup, world-class neurosurgeon, whose his hands were damaged so he can't continue to do literal brain surgery. Woe is him. Fortunately, his previous job paid pretty well, allowing him to travel the real world when his personal world came crashing down. It's nice to have been a multi-millionaire before you take that big trip to "find yourself"...
If I'm not mistaken, he was also kind of a dick... like Tony Stark but with magic instead of a suit of armor.

And some, I assume, are good people." |

No, not mistaken. He was a major tool before he became a hero. Also like Thor. And Tony. "Jerk turns good" is kind of a recurring theme at Marvel.

It's more about bringing Steve Ditko's original super trippy comic drawings to the silver screen. So far it's working.

Rich jerks. The working-class jerks have to go work for Hydra.

Aye I get that, I'm just wondering if the comic book origin has that same "fnar fnar, I don't believe in silly magic mumbo jumbo", "but look, CGI special effects, whaddaya think of science now, nerdzoid?", "TEACH ME!" line running through it? It's not a dealbreaker or anything, just a bit of a tiresome trope - there's a particular brand of lefty writer in American TV/movies that never misses an opportunity to take a pop at science or silly stuff like "wanting to see evidence"(see also: the completely random "GMO is poisoning the world's food supply! And is literally Hydra!" interjection by the supposedly-a-biologist character in the recent Agents of SHIELD episode).

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.
"Your society's broken, so who should we blame? Should we blame the rich, powerful people who caused it? No, lets blame the people with no power and no money and those immigrants who don't even have the vote. Yea, it must be their fething fault." - Iain M Banks
-----
"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal |

Yes, I am sure that will be in there. It is a trope for a reason.
As for the Lefty writer bit, it isn't just the left. Look at anti-vaxxers, Climate Change deniers, GMO scaremongers, Creationists, etc. There is a strong anti-intellectual trend in America. Period. Full stop.

Too bad that "particular brand" has been around for over a century, and hasn't been confined to the left, nor writing...
