Wow guys!

Once again, I'm blown away by all the nice comments here! Thank you all very much for taking the time to check this out and write a reply! It always makes my day

Keep up the amazing work, both conversions and painting!
Subbed!
Thank you very much Sarpedon of Sotha! Cool name
btw!

I'm trying to get through this combat patrol quickly, but I'm admittedly a very slow painter who also happens to get distracted very easily
blockade23 wrote:Man those conversions are lovely, and that purple is so crisp! Models look amazing, would be awesome to play against.
Thanks a lot blockade23 for your kind words! I'm in love with the purple too! I must confess that my camera and lightbox are contributing a lot to the vibrancy of the colours, but the paintjob actually looks rather crisp in person too

Oh, and regarding your other statement: I need to get this Combat Patrol done to finally allow me to start playing, as I wanna do a quick test game with a friend and our local
GW staff member showing us the ropes. We'l see how that goes

Gorgeous painting on all those recent characters! I LOVE the little bubbles on the Apothecary’s vials!! Tech priests look so darn good- for me the First Born versions have so much style.
Man your purple scheme has always been so consistently good, group photos will look amazing.
Heeeey buddy! Happy to see you around once again, and thanks for your kind words!

Indeed, Primaris were a bit of a nono for me but I guess the Soul Drinkers lore helped me overcome that aversion somewhat. Super stoked to hear you like the characters I posted, and thanks for noticing the vials! It was my first time attempting a glass canister effect, though I had a lot of good reference images!

Oh and regarding the techmarines: I did a headswap on one of them, but he's now also in the process of being painted. Hope he'll turn out alright
Alright, so today I'm back with just a quick little update. I managed to get 3 more Primaris Marines painted over the course of this past week which I want to share with you now. Here's the first one:
This guy is slightly converted/kitbashed like the others. I used the Reiver Bolt Carbine arms again for his main weapon, and also gave him a different helmet. It is a converted Khorne berzerker helmet with the "bunny ears" removed. I think it actually makes for a fantastic, slightly more brutal head option for loyalists with its more snarling appearance. Also, I only noticed this later, but the mini now totally reminds me of this guy from an artwork:
Next, we have this guy with his large combat blade drawn:
Same principle as above, the weapons came from the Reivers kit. I gave this guy a studded shoulder plate for added visual interest. Let's move on to the final mini. Here's
"Sergeant Phraates", one of the characters from the newer novels:
This character is the Sergeant of the squad with Brother Cyvon (the protagonist of the new novels, who seems to have quite some potential to become important later down the line should the Soul Drinkers lore continue). While Sergeant Phraates is described wearing a red helmet in the books (as per the Codex Astartes), I tried that colour and it looked absolutely horrible with the rest of the paint scheme. Thus, I decided to do what I did for my Firstborn Marines, and instead used bone colour to denote important characters. This was also the first time in ages that I used a transfer decal on a mini (the last time was in my childhood
iirc), but I'm happy with the look of it on the little tilt shield there. Certainly much better than attempting to paint a tiny skull or yet
another chalice.
Now, for the Combat Patrol, this mini is fine, as it has no extra equipment, as described in the datasheet. However, I decided to give myself some more flexibility to expand my Primaris Soul Drinker collection by magnetizing one of the mini's arms. This way, I can easily add extra gear to the model if needed. Here he is, for example, with a classic chainsword:
... and here, with a power sword:
That's all the new Marines, so I guess it's time for another group shot!

And that concludes today's quick little update! Hope you enjoyed what I showed you and you'll stay tuned for more. As always, I'm very much looking forward to reading your replies! Catch y'all later
