Wehrkind - I see what you mean on armor thickness, I'll have to re-think that. Or at the very least, make a breast plate, and see if you think it will be too thin to cast. Failing the separate armor, yes, I can just do armored and non-armored torsos, not a big deal.

El Vic - Thanks I'll send the Monster your wishes! She does have pretty hair...when she lets us brush it! Most of the time she just goes around looking like she lives with wolves or something! And then she runs to my desk to make sure they are still there!

Torso length for the horses...yes, there will be much to change. The human torsos will more than likely be sitting farther back on the horse shoulders. The human bodies will be well muscled, even the females IIRC, their Abs will blend down into the horse body. For the most part, these centaurs will be naked, even the females. I will most likely add large lecklaces to some of the females to keep it SFW, but there may be a bare boob or two here and there. But even the naked ones will have ornaments, weapons, and wineskins. Some however will be armored. The armor will be in the ancient Greek style, so think Spartan Centaurs. I will be attempting to sculpt my own heads and faces again. I hope that turns out!

And no, I'm not Finnish, and I was actually joking about the bonfire! The closest I would get is sitting naked in a Hot Tub while it was snowing. Now that is fun!

Something to think on, is watch exactly how much you change, proportion wise.

Everyone thinks of Centaurs I believe in a way that isnt quite right (even me). Horses are actually rather massive compared to humans, and so there would be a lot more horse than man on a true-hybrid centaur. Even now, with that mockup, you have more of a deer or pony-taur instead of a horse-scale centaur. Not necessarily a bad thing, but something to keep in mind.

Also, I'd say don't put the human torso further back. Yes, human torsos are centered over their legs, but a Centaur will not have balance issues because of that, and it would be a lot more natural (think of the digestive systems and ability to twist) to have a bigger trunk there.

Better not be too many! You can always photoshop an urn into their hands. Urns = Art (Edit: not too many large necklaces or hair etc. concealing things, I mean. Going out of the way to conceal human parts is as annoying to me as going out of one's way to display them.)
Though on a side note, I am hoping to mimic the ancient Grecian style, where nudity was normal and showed up in art left and right (cloth historically has been fairly expensive and nudity not as taboo as it is now).

I don't know about needing to shorten the horse bodies. While from some angles the bodies look a little strange, from most others they look ok, at least based on my own messing around with mock up models. Centaurs seem to look really strange from certain angles, which makes sense. What is more strange is that they DON'T look more strange from other angles.

Yea, go nuts with the armor ideas. I am not in a huge hurry for models to cast up and paint, so experiment away

that made me chuckle... lovley monster ideed! and quite the good logic behind that action! and yep... with my youngest son oscar we try to keep the hair quite short...also he has kind of a brsuhy hairdo anyway^^ but the older felix is longer in his hair and he looks very cool...but brushing it is also not really welcome... tho he always asks if his hair is ruffled when he puts off his caps...^^


the concept really sound quite cool...and you do realize that even female centaures would have rather udders than boobs? but from an artist point of view i think boobs are better than udders lol...the armor idea and the rest i look really forward to to see them soon!

the mortheim crew has such handguards on sabres...otherwise...you could get around the problem by making it an ornamental form... like a leaf...or something else...also if all else fails you could add some cords...like:





with your skill i think you could really get that tackled from behind...

As far as boobs though, I think if you put an NSFW tag on the thread you'd be fine. If you want to avoid that for this one, You could probably just start a new thread for them, tag that one, and link here. Or something. If you're really concerned about showing us some boobs. To be honest though, I think we can take it..

One thing that just struck me is that both her arms are sort of in the same position, which is a little odd. Now that it is entirely too late, have you considered rotating her right (sword) arm so that the blade is parallel with the ground? Might help, though it isn't really a problem and is WAY too late probably I should have been paying more attention!

Oh, and for the basket hilt, have you tried getting really thin plasticard and wrapping it around a pin stuck through it? Once it is in place you could use a little GS to do little embellishments on it.

gotta agree with wherkind now that the pose of the arms now seems a bit akward with both hands facing upwards... if possible i would at least make one hand...the sabre wielding one seems sensible for that...facing sidewards...

i hoped that both are WIP as i think the blade needs a bit of work... i think it looks currently a bit to thick... but that might be because of the pic... dimensions sometimes don´t get shown so well in wip pics...

I agree, the model is gorgeous, but the wangcannon has to go.

Plasma pistols are shockingly difficult to scratch build, I'd ask around and see if you can get one from someone else. If you know someone who plays a power armor army, you're basically guaranteed to know someone who has extra plasma pistol bitz around.

Jake, I recently bought a huge set of like 20 marine plasma pistols to use for converting some las/plas razorbacks. If you want one and can't find any locally, lemme know.

I am going to be slimming the "Wang" down a lot, make it slimmer. The thing is, there just isn't anything else the right size out there that I have found!
This one is the smallest one I could find, and it is huge!

It was kind surreal Ailaros, I was JUST looking at your threads! And then I look and you commented on mine!! I get a lot of inspiration from your scratch builds!

And I heard back from the client, and I am going to try a different style of sword. If it doesn't work out, I'll re-visit this one.

oh... i thought that baybe the chaosy guns could work... or possibly an eldar plasma gun? they do have those?!

also i would try orky ones... sometimes the older ones are not that big...or maybe you could work from a laspistol? upgrading through greystuffing it to plasma level?

The one I'm making is not much bigger than an IG Las Pistol. I'll post a side-by-side later.

I'll look at my OOP Dark Elda bits, I don't think there is anyhting usable in there, but I haven't looked in a while.

iirc i used a DE laspistol equivalent for one of my sarges for the scottish platoon... it has even a blade under the grip...
i bet with a bit of effort it could be used as a plasmapistol...
