Those obsidian weapons are rather nice

I'd assumed the green ichor in the corner of the light box was just the remains of some nurgle-spawn recently dispatched by the knights of grey

Have fun with beer and bewbs.

I'm really overwhelmed with the response to the obsidian. Thanks everyone.

Okay, so a pretty much built SR. I've not done the Lascannons under the wings, or added the gk iconography. I'll take better photos (ie less than usual rubbish) once that's done, along with PIP shots. Anyhoo:

Good sense of its general chunkiness.

I really like the clamp, but I like the coil that comes with the SR, so I shaved down the original grapple (which leaves with a cog outline; I imagine I'll sneak a bit of GK brass etch in there). I also had to shave a miniscule amount off the resin plate to make it match the lines of the tail, but it's a very small easy job indeed.

And a shot of the excellent interior detailing.

Overall I'm very impressed. Slight warping on side plate, but nothing like as bad as I'm used to from FW.

On the subject of FW:

Love this guy. I've wrapped a brass etch =I= round the back of the flag but pic was dreadful even by my standards.

A quick pip, as I've not been completely idle:

Coming along, I think. Colour scheme good for the =I=?

And finally, a query: which head looks better? You may recall I was trying to do a "Chaplain in Xeno Armour" from IA10 (executioner maybe?):

Can't decide which head I prefer! He'll be getting Chapterhouse ridged pads, and a Dante axe.

Also, 'Black Hole Sun' by Soundgarden. A good soundtrack, methinks.

Well that's fairly conclusive in favour of the 2nd head! I guess it emphasises that This Is A Chaplain. Funnily enough I only got it as an afterthought. Other head will look good on a Dragon Warrior champion or some such other base litter. Feeling a lot of love in the room for the SR - heck, even the wife and the 3 yr old approve! It is very butt heavy now, though, so may have it in landed mode, or weight the front of the stand (loathe to add weight into the front of the SR, don't want it splitting like a cheap chop shop number!)

I've painted that first head, it it definitely works better for any reptilian-based chapter. Consider this a vote for numero dos.

I'm going to join in on the calls for the 2nd head. The Storm Raven does look far better bulked out like that.

Not sure, but I reckon the dude at the back of the first shot may not completely fit in scale wise.

I'll start with the apology: not been updated for a week because I'm back at work and new term's always a bit crazy. Timetable's ok this year but got some... challenging classes. Also, other part of this apology: it's only of a couple of models, though I've block-painted the red highlights on the rest of the figures. A-nyway...

I've added brass etch to the NDK's shoulders, finished the hammer (that I'll almost certainly never use) and generally tidied up a few things:

Not quite sold on the silver of the plates at the armpits, stiil looks untidy to me, but otherwise happy.

Like that pose. Mmm, angry.

Again, tidied up a bit.

And lastly a couple of detail shots to show the brass etch, and the obsidian effect on the hammer.
NDK-wise generally, I think the next one (yes, I'm planning the next one already) will be sword/double psycannon. That seems to be a suitably brutal loadout

And the Venerable dreadnought, who's currently swappable as a Psyfleman or a cc version. Tbh I think that I'm going to treat myself to a FW Mk4 though and affix the cc arms to that. This guy is pretty much done apart from the base.

I wonder whether the rear could do with a splash of red in there somewhere, mind. Still, pretty content.

So there we have it! This weekend I aim to get the base done on this guy and maybe - maybe - add some orange highlights, plus a bit of work on Purifiers and gs filling on the SR.

Thanks for watching,
Later,
graven.

What brass etch parts have you added to the shoulders?

The dread looks great, I like the flamer

Maybe some red on the rear engine armour plates, like you've done on your awesome NDK

Off the FW =I= brass etch I've added a square plate to right shoulder and a GK icon to the left. TBH, you don't get much that's GK specific on the sprue, but it's still pretty darn good.

Good call on the back of the dread - I already added red to the top of the clamp, pre pic, but knew it wasn't quite enough. Glad the Flamer works for you btw! I'm all about the psyflame

Thanks for c&c, as ever!

Agreed, flamer's nice... My only question comes from the Dread head : it looks as if he's looking upwards, is that on purpose? Or just the angle of the shots?

And that mass of pic just confirms that the overall scheme is really efficient!!

Yup, dread is indeed looking up, I intended it that way; I was originally thinking about the TLAC like Hydra guns, tracking the skies. I'm still thinking about adding something to the NDK's shoulders, dunno though. Also the middle toe's have mould lines, bah.

I'm tempted - slightly - to get another Ven Dread rather than an FW one, actually. I have another Furioso Libby front and that worked well, don't know if it'll fit a ven dread torso though. Plus there's all the shiny goodness of a bits. Oh, bother.

In other news, got a cheap, badly painted LR with FW doors of interweb, which has now had a tune up and a respray. I've also done a test of Mk7>Crusade head which wasn't too bad I thought. Try to get a pic up tomorrow (hellish weekend, roll on work!)

Very nicely done graven. Both are looking really good. I think a little color of some sort would benefit the back of the dread, but it's not necessary. It's a war machine after all.

Loving the libby dread.

If you are looking for some red to place on

Why not have the =I= symbol on the back in red, it's central and has a definitive line? While I understand you have the pilots head pointing skyward, it does look a little out of place when the arm's aren't doing the same.
