I'll treat myself to the IF stuff. Seems they've gone back to Rex standalone box to make it so the new IK weapons will be locked into a bigger and pricier multi-knight box?

Erm...

"This set can build one of the following: a Knight Preceptor, Canis Rex with Sir Hekhtur, Knight Paladin, Knight Crusader, Knight Warden, Knight Errant, Knight Gallant, or Chaos Knight Despoiler. It includes an upgrade sprue that can build a Knight Preceptor or Canis Rex, as well as a Knight Questoris transfer sheet comprising 302 decals."

To be clear, both Knight boxes will contain all the sprues to make a Knight Paladin, a Knight Crusader, a Knight Warden, a Knight Errant, and a Knight Gallant, as well as the Chaos Knight Despoiler including the Knight Questoris transfer.

The Knight Questoris kit will also contain the new Knight Defender sprue. The Knight Preceptor / Canis Rex will also contain the Knight Preceptor sprue, which includes the Hector Rex bits.

So I expect these kits will likely be priced the same as each other. I have no idea if that will be up or down from the old price? Was everything in a single box before?

IIRC the previous kit included everything in one box. This version of the box will "fork" it where the canis rex/preceptor kit will continue in the same way as the current kit, whereas the defender kit will be a sprue swap.

Because GW, I expect there to be a price hike on the box, even though sprue counts remain constant.

For years I fantasised about them getting plastic upgrades.
Now, the far seer and warlock plastics are some of the most uninterresting sculpts they produce. A unit that used to be full of character and pure rizz replaced with zero personality.
I dont usually complain or compare old sculpts with new, but the Aeldari psychers are some of the greatest dissapointments for me personally. Still use my metal guys, exept for jetbikes.

Concur. I don't care the new plastic Warlocks either. I don't know if it's the derpy ynarri faces, the general poses, or even the studio paintjob. The kit itself is oddly designed. The way they molded the legs as separate pieces under the robe is just weird. It looks like you should be able to mix and match parts between the two, but they really only go together one way and your only choice is helmet or ynarri face.

Yay! Giant Mech Suits! I wonder if we will get a codex that doesn't require Canis Rex to be used.

I doubt it. I strongly suspect that if that were the case, the revised index would reflect it.

Since the current series of Sandman was released on Netflix last month, it's quite likely.

Eh maybe maybe not - its old enough people might think the TV show was inspired by the model or something like that.

Honestly I don't think anyone would really care; in fact this is the first time I think I've seen anyone mention its possible inspiration in decades.

Plus don't forget the 70-80s had loads of artwork of a similarish nature kicking around.

I’m not sure it is a Sandman reference. I do see where you’re coming from, but it’s also similar to Omega, from Arc of Infinity. Could be a bit of both.

Honestly I'd just say all 3 - Sandman, Omega and Eldar - are all just evolutions of the same idea of a "bug-eyed" helmet.

All three aim for that similar mosquito style of a pointy mouth area and big bug-eyes

Sandman graphic novels started in 1989 and the all time greatest issue of White Dwarf, 127, was ?July 1990 - wherein the first 'bug eyed' Jes Goodwin Eldar Farseer was released, so whilst its possible one inspired the other, they're pretty much contemporaneous.

Looking further back there were were some less prominent elongated eyes on the helms of the 'Space Elf Command group in what, 1988, so who came first?

Spiritseers don't have the bug eyes, just a blank helm in any case.

Latest valrak video (cue certain people coming out of retirement to decry):

Christmas boxes rumours he's heard:
- chaos space marines, legionnaires, oblits, venomcrawler, master of possession, rhino, havocs
- marine box which is rammed to the gills with terminators including assault terminators (he does note hes uncertain of this one, as new minis at Christmas has ever been done, unless they release beforehand
- nidzilla box with the screamer killer, neurotyrant, an exocrine box, trannofex box and I think it was a trygon?
- farsight themed tau box
- his personal speculation that there could be a 5th for emperors children

More combat patrol boxes are coming in certain "flavours", i.e. he heard about a krieg one, but it could apply to other armies i.e. a night lords combat patrol and so on.

Dark eldar due very soon, combat patrol is haemonculus, wracks and 2 pain engines

Also due quite soon is a pirate showdown, red corsairs vs eldar corsairs. He noted that the vyper is sold out online in the uk.

Gaiman wrote it, he didn't draw it. I'd be surprised if he had much input into Dream's helmet design, other than "yep, that looks pretty good. do that please". It also appears to have been based on stuff from the 30s and 70's anyway.

It was meant to be a nod to the gasmask worn by DC's original Sandman character.

He didn't say one way or the other, so maybe a narrative book jobby or just themed releas period.

In 1977 we got 3B6-RA-7 in the Jawa Sandcrawler and in 1980 we got 4 LOM on the imperial star destroyer. Maybe those were the inspiration for the bug eyed Farseer helmets.

Hell yeah! Bring it! I just bought the existing Drukhari CP off the shelf since it's sold out online. It's nice that the new one won't duplicate any of those units and it'll give me stuff I want.

Dudeface wrote:

I'm lukewarm on Red Corsairs... Nothing against them, it's just that any Chaos I buy should be able to fit into an EC army in order to maximize my return on investment.

But Aeldari Corsairs? Hell yeah! All day, every day. And this likely means the addition of AT LEAST an HQ model to the range... Hopefully it's a generic character and not a named one. A dual build named/generic kit is an even better choice for me, and likely a better money maker for GW. Give me enough options, and yes, I will buy three copies of the kit. Do it not, and my money will go elsewhere... I have an unspecified date with a dude named W. Artel, and he's perfectly willing to set my up with all the stuff GW doesn't.

PS: Can't wait for the Drukhari dex- I'm anxious about their Crusade content and curious to see whether the Court, Beastmasters and Grotesques are in it, because if they are, even if we don't get models this edition, it's a good indicator that GW is still planning on getting them out SOME DAY. If they're gone, on the other hand, it likely means they're gone for at least a few editions. Also curious to see if Cosair and Harlequin units will be added to this dex in the same way that useable Drukhari units were added to the Aeldari dex. If so, I also wonder if they will differ at all from their Aeldari dex counterparts.

It could be a Kill Team box. Those still come with 2 teams.

GW has also released a few simultaneous 1-player Battleboxes with a new character model in each. That could fit the bill also.

There were rumors (iirc from Valrak) some time back of a resculpt of Yriel, so that might be the HQ model, which unfortunately is not a generic unless its a dual-build.

For corsairs it's a Huron resculpt (if we're lucky some bikes) and for eldar it was a seer, yriel, some jump guys and a new combo jobby with the vyper.

They should do both - graceful mysterious alien space elves.

If they'd leaned into more bone-like armour designs; the bug-eyed helms and a bunch of other things they could have very much the eldar grace but looking far more alien
