So, after mentioning Necromunda to a friend with whom I used to play with, I decided to search for my miniatures, and cringed at the paint job I gave then when I was 14 or so.

I haven't messed a lot with them, the most converting I've done is facial hair on the leader, since it's a matter of personal principles. Since the leader also has a bandana and an eyepatch, considering he's only 28mm tall, I guess I'll call him "Little Boss".

Yay for Necromunda. Are they gonna be in standard Orlock colours, or something different?

Though my guards may sleep and my ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

So far I'm thinking "urban camo", and since we don't play WYSIWYG since it's impossible to buy anything related to the hobby sicne years in my country, I'll probably "color code" them, with the bandanas or something, so I can make clear and obvious what's every miniature gear on each game.

The day didn't really lent to painting today, heavy rain and still too hot, so I was with closed windows and my ceiling fan on.

At the very least, gave them a first thin coat of skin colour. I'm no great painter, but I'll aim to pale caucasian; caucasian because it's easier when you have to rely on artistic acrylics and they already have with handy names like "skin", and pale because life within the hive.

Since I have no rush nor deadline (I have no games on the horizon so far), I'll rather go with the "as many thin layers are needed" approach rather than destroy the few details this miniatures have with a thick layer of paint.

I need to choose a scheme. The first one is the "codex" one, sugested on the Necromunda rulebook. I'm partial on the second one, but my mind also came up with the third and fourth variant.

I'll try to decide /:

Since I couldn't decide on a given color scheme, I'll use 'em all, in the following order: juve, gangster, heavy and leader.

So far I'm slowly basecoating my heavies, but I have to say it's annoying to have my paints dry quick because of the fans I need (since it's summer here and all that).

Painted a bit more, forgot how horrible I'm at it, but still, these are the very first layers of basecoating.

So far advanced a bit more on my heavies and Little Boss

Love those Orlock models and Like the conversions you did. The beard on the leader does a lot to make him less baby-faced.

I like the color schemes too.

Cool. Nice idea for the different schemes for different ranks.

Thanks for the replies and support!

I'm no good painter, but washes are just magical. And how long since I stopped painting at all? Well, I still have old Devland Mud and Badab Black washes...

I'm not sure I'm good enough to blend properly after the washes settle, so I'm not sure if I should just go for a quick and dirty dry brush. But alas, the Heavies (sans weapons) and the gang leader are almost done, and then I'll probably move onto the juves since I only own two.

Had these primedfor 2 years, without touching them, and honestly, right now I need something to keep my mind busy, so I'm resuming this (and mayhaps I can convince my friends to play some games in the future).

I hate how the already painted minis look like, so I'll remove the paint and will start over, but before doing that, I'll just work on the unpainted ones.

So far, the first base coats on my two juves.

Edit: I guess this can be considered "tabletop ready". Will let the acrylics cure overnight and tomorrow will seal them.

Another WIP, two gangers.

So far I reached the ink wash step (reviving my old Devland Mud and Badab Black washes), and if I can, tomorrow I'll highlight them. While I've subverted the shirt and pants colours for the juves, from the original scheme, I'll keep the schemes for the rest of the gang.

Nice work! I've been reviving my own Orlocks recently, the old metal ones were always some of my favourite sculpts (mainly from nostalgia).

Thanks a lot! So far, while I like and enjoy these old minis, getting the new ones ain't an option since nowadays, if I add shipping costs and custom taxes, the gang box can go up to around $120, which is a bit too much for me nowadays.

Alas, I've finished the two gangsters I left halfway done last night and sealed them along with the juves. Then started 2 more gangsters, which I'll put below.

The worlflow plan so far is working these in pairs, except the next gangster (since I've got 5 of them). Once I have them all finished, I'll remove the paint of my heavies and gang leader (shown earlier in this old thread) and will prime and paint them again.

If all this goes well and I get at least one of my friends that has a gang (a Delaque one) to look for it within his stuff at his home) I may feel motivated enough to make some scenery, since we've got nothing (and when teenagers, we just used random boxes and household things we had laying around)

Thanks a lot, really. I know I'm not the best here (though I hope I'm not the worst here), but at least I'm getting them painted as best as I can right now.

Another 2 more gangsters are done.

The two heavies and the leader are already taking swimming classes in a tupper with alcohol, so I can remove the old paint job.

Last gangster is almost done (it's funny, when I got it sent I thougt it stood out, turned out to be a gang leader mini, having 2 I decided it to be a gangster, tabletop wise, and be a lieutenant in the gang's fluff)

Here he is after being sealed, and I also painted the rims of the others in black and sealed those too.

The heavies and actual gang leader are still being prepped before repainting them

After months of heavy humidity and rains that seemed to never stop, I got to prime the remaining miniatures and started to paint them.

As I'm "finishing" this, I'm planning on replicating (sort of) the boxed scenery of old with foamboard. Won't be fancy, but the idea is that I can store it flat ina box and it's easy to transport if I play at a friend's place.

Alas, back home.

I've finished painting the minis and here are the photos (I know, nothing great or worthy of praise, but I know it's the best I can do today, and I should get better with time).

Since because of the looks of the gang leader I jockingly called him "Little Boss" I decided to call the gang "Promethium Dogs".

Also on my way home I've got me a piece of foamboard and will try to emulate in a way the old scenery that came with the original Necromunda box-set. Let's see here how that goes for me.

Well, time has come to do some scenery.

I've been wanting to emulate the original scenery and make it able to be stored as flat as possible when not gaming (since storage space is an issue nowadays).

I've seen that one can make 3D prints of the old bulk heads, but sadly I've got no access to that where I live, so I had to think of someone else. What about non-modular bulkheadsmade of foamboard that has slots for sliding what'll be the floors?

I've made a paper template and cut the broad shape in foamboard.

As for now, I'm waiting until the glue here dries before continuing, which may be tomorrow sinceit's 2200hs here right now.

Cheers!

Glue's setting on the pieces that'll support the first Necromundan building, because I won't have the plastic Bulkheads.

Now I'll have to buy thick cardboard to make the floors.

Still adding bits and pieces on what I have already, and used my lunch break of a home-office day to test the structure using scrap cardboard for the floors.

I've realized that the "floors" will have to be perfectly flat so I may consider reinforcing the final pieces to ensure that, while keeping it as flat as I can.

Finally, finished the structure of the first building.

Some will recognize it these shapes from the original boxed game, which is what I'm trying to emulate. The pieces that'll work where the bulkheads are missing are made of foamboard, these are made of pastpartou cardstock, very firm and thick.

I've assembled the pieces to see if I needed to make corrections or add reinforcements but I moved the gang around and I think I can paint them now.

Very cool stuff. Looking forward to seeing dome paint on it. Will you be texturing the floors at all?

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

If for "texturing the floors" you mean replicating the artwork printed on the original stuff, then that's way out of my league, sadly.

I'll just go for a brutalist architecture (which even in real life is worthy a chaos cultist architect). I need to retouch some of the paing, add grime and rust (obviously leaking from the concrete's internal beams that no one can see ) and some washes. Then I'll move onto the next building.

Started the 2nd building.

The structure is done and all it needs is some paint on it.

A pre-finished photo of the "bulkheads" portions, made in foamboard.

The cut portions that'll make the floors. Love the texture that comes on the pastpartou cardstock.

Building's test assembly.

These are great renditions of the original buildings! Great work!

I scratch-built a Macharius, Thunderbolt, Spartan, Land Raider and more! Have a peek at the build and my painting progress here: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/90/513429.page
