The zoo was fantastic although I don't recommend the smell of penguins to anyone hungover...

Two more mutants for the legion are assembled. I'm having to cut these quite a lot to make em fit - looks fine from the front but the back needs major GS filling.

On a dolly related note, loving the beastmen! With all these nice new out of the blue things like Stealer cults and Deathwatch armies, I hope GW does some Lost & the Damned stuff like mutants and whatnot in the future!

Yeah its nice when they do something weird. If only they could find it in their hearts to do some squat asteroid miners. I'd buy em.

I've reached an impasse with the penal beastmen. Does a punishment squad deserve special or heavy weapons? Surely they should be punished further by being all made to fight with lasguns... Anyone know what the codex says?

Penal legionnaires do not get heavy or special weapons, they do however get rules that change how their weapons work.

Thanks shas, that's what I would have thought. Can't go trusting mutant convicts with a flamer, they'd frag their officers.

The rest of the team are ready to rock. Next I need to fill a multitude of cracks with GS.

Basically before deployment, roll a D6 for each Penal Legion.
1-2 Gunslingers ( The Penal Legion's lasguns count as Assault 2 )
3-4 Psychopaths ( Grants Furious Charge, Fleet and the Counter Attack rules )
5-6 Knife Fighters ( All Penal Legionnaires count as having an extra close combat weapon and they have the Rending rule )

Well I've been busy filling the cracks and adding wargear and GS pouches tto these beastmen. Then I had a little play about with leftover knight heads and some ancient warmaster halberdiers and came up with empire foot knights...

Do they still use explosive collars in the penal legions? Human bombs? Nice looking work on those conversions.

Is it my dirty mind or was saying "filling cracks" followed by a picture of the rear of the beasties on purpose?!

Excellent work on the Beasty boys. Coming to life nicely. One question on the knightly fellows. What's with the ridiculous ploom on no. 4. That is crazy! He should be bright yellow and the feathers be brilliant pink.

I really like the penal beasties! I gotta say though, when I read "Good morning dakka! I am now married! And my beastmen came in the post! " I thought for a second I had read it backwards and you had mail order husbanded a few burly fellows. Then again, maybe you did!

Cam I had to shorten all the other plumes, they looked ridiculous on these short bodies, but that one looked just ridiculous enough so I left it.

I reckon they can manage to call youse 'Bossman' But I don't fink their lips will twist round sir" Grabbing the nearest beast by the shoulders he screamed "CALL ME SIR YOU ORRIBLE LITTLE BEAST!!" The terrified beast, his eyes rolling, managed a strangulated "Ssthhhurrr ess sthur" and the lieutenant threw him to the ground.

Nevelon I think they do but the fluff says it depends and some have sub-dermal drug implants instead... Its up to the techpriest in charge I guess.

Hi dakkadakka hows it hanging. The happy world of retail has been keeping me away from miniature things recently. It has been the busiest tourist season for a long time and I have to sell them all food. Dirty jobs, someones gotta do it... (I loved that show).
