I see what you mean about the crane it does look a bit odd there. It looks really good btw, the telescoping and the design of the lifting mechanism is really cool, but it's maybe a little flimsy at the base joint and the first spar.

Thing is, if you did move it what would you replace it with?

Thanks Noodles, and yeah I still need to work on the lower part of the arms, add some details, and bulk them out a bit.
At this point I might remove the crane altogether, so I do need to think up some kind of replacement.

Warboss_Waaazag wrote:This build looks amazing. I can't believe the detail on the servo arm. And am I seeing this correctly? The converted arms are moveable?

Thank you very much. If you mean the servo arms, yes their all movable, and each one has four points of movement. So they can be posed however you want, and then folded up again.

The crane arm, like the rest of them, is looking fantastic.

I think, what you need is some kind of adjustable counter-balance that will not only show that it works in-universe, but also balance the model (as all those arms on one side is a bit unbalanced... however, you have not added the shoulder pad to the other side which would go some way to balancing it. But maybe consider a counter-balance on that shoulder pad, or between the exhausts).

Something to think about anyway.

The Crane looks awesome...but it does not suit the model. The other arms have their place and seem to fold out of the way when not used. Not so much with the crane. Is the crane really needed? Couldn't it just use vice clamp arm to pick up things? I think a flail or hammer would be more usefull. Just my 2 cents

BTW Love you work, wish I had your skills and patience

Yeah I think your right about the counterbalance, and not just from a physics/weight point of view, but I also want the model to balanced aesthetically as well.
so with that in mind I've decided not to use the crane on the knight, and go for something else instead.

I do want to add a shoulder pad to the other arm, but I'm gonna build one from scratch, as I don't think the standard knight pads suit the mechanicus look that I'm going for.

Thanks for the feedback, and I think your absolutely right. I've been thinking along the same lines, and have decided not to use the crane on the knight.

I'm now finishing up the three arms that I've started, once their done I'll decide what to do with the fourth space.
I did have the idea of adding a servitor there, that directly controls the arms, and I still have a load of Skitarii bits lying around, so that could be a thing

Work on the Knight continues, as I've just been finishing off a new shoulder pad for the Knights gun arm.

Never been too keen on the Knights standard shoulder pad design, so I decided to build my own.
It's still a WIP, and might need a few more rivets, but I'm quite pleased with it so far.

Phenomenal! Such amazing detail work. I wish I could work with plasticard the way you do.

Because the arms you built are so cool I kind of want you to replace the head with something more special. What about something like the old weapon heads from Adeptus Titanicus; replace the "mouth" of the knight with a construction tool or weapon? A manipulator claw, chainsaw, drill, melta-cutter, etc.

That shoulder pad looks fantastic, really nice even finish you've given it, I take it you intended not to file the gaps in the layers right down?

I disagree, it's terrible. You should finish it up and then send it to me. You know, for proper disposal...

Thanks for that, I really appreciate it . As for the head, I do want to convert it in some way, but I want to keep it fairly simple for this model. I do like the Adeptus Titanicus idea though, maybe something I could use on the next one.

Thanks Noodles. Yeah some of the lines you can see are actually pencil lines showing through. Although there are few little bumps, which I did my best to fill and sand, hopefully they wont show up too much.

I do believe this project is nearing it's end. Just a few more details, a couple hundred rivets, and were done .

Apart from the Knight, I've also just finished setting up my light box. It now has a permanent place to live, so I don't have to keep setting it up every time I want to take a photo.

Since the last update, I've added damage and debris to the Knights base, and completed some more work on the Servo Arms.
Although the original concept was to have four arms, I've decided to stick with just three, as I think it just balances the model better.

As always, please leave you comments, questions and feedback below, as they really are appreciated .

Yeah, I'll be posting a link here as soon as it's up for sale.

I hope it does well too . As for the base, I've had a lot of people comment on how much they like it. So I was thinking I might start making a few detailed base's, as their really fun to do
and don't take anywhere near as much time as a full on conversion project.

Kataklysm wrote:When is this bad boy hitting ebay? I've got a hole burning in my pocket waiting for it.

I've still got a few more details to finish, not to mention the 150 plus rivets I still need to add. So it might be a little while yet, but I'll post here as soon as it's done.
