Nowhere in fluff is the Basilisk used as a frontline tank, and nowhere in fluff are the claimed attack-ranges substantiated. No need to get upset there, sport. Take a deep breath.

Oh I understand it perfectly. I'm merely pointing out the flawed assumption that tabletop usage of units translates to canon in-universe stuff.
Also, calling someone a "newb" is pretty rude.

Calm down collius...
Anyway, I'm sorry. To be honest, you weren't all that polite either.
And no real tank actually participates in close-range combat, in all seriousness. That is relevant, as I'm saying that by your definition, most tanks aren't manly because in all practical sense, all tanks would be battling over some distance.

in 40k, lots of tanks are designed for close quarters simply for awesome points- if it was realistic, they'd be taking pot shots from streets away.
land raiders, vindicators, walkers, hellhounds, some leman russes, CRASSUS ARMOURED ASSAULT TRANSPORTs, any ork vehicles... all are close quarters, but would never really exist IRL.

That's nothing!
When I was a kid we used to have to get up an hour before we went to bed and lick t'road clean!
And 'manly tanks' pale in comparison to the 2nd ed eldar war walker.
Real men
A) walk into battle
B) strap themselves to the front of the most rickety contraption a race that's been around since before the dawn of time could possibly devise. I mean they must have actually tried to to make it more 'explodey'.
Given that to the eldar, one eldar is worth 100,000 men, how manly must war walkers be?...

Blacksails wrote:

However, firing ordinance at someone isn't nearly as threatening as firing ordnance at someone.
Ordinance is a local law, or bill, or other form of legislation.
Ordnance is high caliber explosives.
No 'I' in ordnance.
Don't drown the enemy in legislation, drown them in explosives. |

An eldar is worth 1/100,000 of a guardsman. Can you tell an Eldar to go run at a alien horror just to be butchered? Probably! That's because they have a bunch of pansy ass toys to protect their soft, bony behinds. Give them a crap rifle, crap armor and no powers and I'll guarantee you they'll book it as soon as their friend dies. A guardsman, though, will keep running at the alien horror and he'll do it with gumption! Only thing Eldar are good at is back stabbing, being jerks and judging other people. They are the high school girls of Warhammer 40k!
As for the war walker, it's not a tank. It's a walker. Even then the Sentinel is far more manly. You know why? It doesn't have a sissy shield like the war walker does! Don't even say the Falcon is manly. Cause it makes the Hammerhead look like the Rynn's Might.

I'm sorry to butt in gentlemen. First, allow me to say that the very act of reading this thread alone has increased my manliness by a factor of ten. Last week, my fiancee wouldn't even look at me and was too busy modelling her un-manly Eldar to even cook me dinner. Now, I am so manly that I cannot enter the house with good clothing on, for fear of it being ripped from my manly form. I've had to invest in a lot of cheap, rippable shirts gentlemen and for that I thank you all. HOWEVER! In all the discussions here on which Tank is indeed the manliest tank of all, only one of you have realised the truth. One meme. One picture that I am sure you've all seen. One picture posted not long ago, that was ignored. One picture that PROVES beyond a shadow of a doubt which tank is the Manliest. I have to tell you gentlemen, it is not our Messiah THE CRASSUS ARMOURED ASSAULT TRANSPORT. Manly though it might be it is not the manliest. Nor is it Rynn's Might. A tank so manly that it destroyed a whole Ork horde without even a MAN to drive it! NOR... is it the giant flamerthrower tank (although that is pretty fething manly). We come full circle my friends. This picture proves it. It is the Manliest Thing on the Internet. Manlier even than Chuck Norris and Magnum PI in a Bear Wrestling contest. Manlier than if Morgan Freeman and Barry Whites voices had sex and had a child that they named Sergeant Guns McPain. Be careful my friends... Clicking that button may overwhelm you with manliness if you are not prepared. There is nothing manlier than that and I will duel anyone who says otherwise. Pistols at 20 paces.
