where am I? *looks around* Well i'm...errr...I...I...don't know!
Also, why woudl the pilot wear his armour in the cockpit...surely they'd be just as well to be in their normal black carapce an have interface ports in the ship that match those of their armour...

Same reason all Space Marine vehicle crew wear power armour, and why all vehicle crew in all armies (real and fictional) don't drive them naked. If their vehicle is taken out, they're still a functioning soldier (theoretically, this isn't represented in the game).

The photography in these pictures for the stormtalon is not very good, its always at the same sort of angle so you cant get a good sence of the proportions on this thing.

Except for the C:SM tank commander.
He gets to run around after getting his tank blown up.

I am now imagining an aircraft being taken down and the enemy watching a naked guy scramble out and run off from the battlefield.

Only Chronus, the unnamed tank commanders die with their tanks.

Okay, my mistake for bad phrasiology there. But still, waring armour in a small cockpit like that is just stupid. Pilots in present day air forces don't wear all the same gear and equipment of footsoldiers, so why would marine pilots wear armour when they are pilots? Even the valkyrie pilots are wearing completely different gear.
The only thing wrong with my statement was the phrasing, they would still wear clothes, but it would be their carapace that interfaces with the ships controls, not the armour.

Having my eyes insulted by such a bad model was so worth it just to read this comment.
I can't believe anyone can take this thing seriously. Space Marine vehicles are supposed to be brutal slabs of bulky metal. Nobody ever looked at a Land Raider and said 'Awwwww, it's adorable'.

Had an opportunity to sort of use the scout armour as a basis for some new pilot armour, but then you look at the Land Speeder and even Storm Raven and it'd just be out of place.
I love Storm Talon. However, I think their weapons are oversized. I never loved Storm Raven and I won't do. I think I'll buy a Storm Talon to my Chaos Space Marines army even not being allowed, just for hobby reasons.
Ork flyers are awesome. Maybe my lonely AoBR warboss may get a friend...
Necron is what we expected, no surprise here.

They really haven't. The trukk perfectly captures the ork aesthetic: ramshackle and primitive, with parts clearly ripped off whatever seemed appropriate at the time.
The battle wagon does almost as well, although it's a little too clean looking for my taste.
These though are just world war 2 planes with teeth stuck on the front. Yes, the WW2 plane aesthetic if established, but it needs to be orkified to really work. These are just lazy designs compared to the rest of the range.
I don't know, imo the new ones look more orky than the ones forgeworld makes, while still fitting in very well with them. Especially those break flaps look like they used to be a gangway in a marine command post before getting looted.
If anything, they look too much like they could actually fly
7 Ork facts people always get wrong: Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other. A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot. Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests. Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books. Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor. Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers. Orks do not have the power of believe.

Glad to hear that I'm not the only one to do this with my Stormraven.

No, the detailing on it is different, as is the overall shape.
Thanks - I have a Stormraven in my maybe-someday-I'll-paint-this pile and for some reason the canopy has been in the corner of my desk forever, so it looked pretty familiar,
I thought the Stormraven was horrible when it was released but over time it sort of grew on me and I came to like it to the point that I bought it (along with the CHS kit, which puts up to 2 inches on my Flyer, you can trust me I'm a doctor)... but I don't think the Roflcopter is going to grow on me at all.
I think it could be converted to look less awful, but I wonder if It can be converted to look good. Maybe you guys that are converting it to have smaller guns are going in the wrong direction with this.
Honestly, is it supposed to land on those two front landing gears alone?

The Stormtalon reminds me of a bumble bee, defying physics, able to fly with it's tiny tiny wings. I picture it flying around in tiny circles off by itself.
Kinda hot in these Rhinooos...

You mean the same imperial guard where platoons consists of whatever planet's population got drafted, mixed together with the veterans of whatever platoon got almost wiped out last?
The identity of the guardsman is pretty much not having an identity other than wielding a lasgun and dying for the emperor.
The identity of a space marine is someone wearing power armor.

For GW the iconic guardsman is a cadian...every kit is a cadian version, sometimes with a catachan option. Yet the valkyrie differs. All I'm saying here is that they had the chance to make a slight variant with the pilot, it would have still been unmistakably SM, since the vehicle follows the design of the LR/SR. I just feel that GW missed a chance. Besides the model looks more ridiculous because there is a hulking armoured figure squeezed into this tiny control space...

Looking at the size of the Assault Cannon turret ring, I had an idea: what if you used the Stormtalon as the head for a Stompa or some other walker? Turn those turbines into head-mounted missile launchers and keep the cheek-mounted heavy bolters and see where it goes from there.
