Subject: Re:Game of Thrones Season 5 - Hyped! [SPOILERS]
GRRM establish a couple things in a recent interview (since the Night's King has had practically no explanation outside of Old Nan's tale):
Spoiler:
The Night's King of legend (twisted 13th Lord Commander of the Night's Watch who was cast down by Bran the Breaker and Joramun) is no more alive in the current than Bran the Builder is.
Basically, the Night's King is like a champion for the Great Other and GRRM stated that Azor Ahai is the same thing for Rh'llor. They're just potent people selected by those gods to fight for ice or fire respectively. If Stannis dies, Melisandre would likely see Daenerys in the flames and seek her out
And hopefully book 7 will see Daenerys head to Asshai as Quaithe told her and then to the wall. I'm betting Tyrion will play a big part in dealing with Jon/Brann. They're the only two Starks that had really good experiences with Tyrion (Jon will likely need a bit of explanation, but he's more anti-Bolton than Lannister, if he's still around, but with the above, if the current Night's King falls, Jon could take his place as the champion of ice.). Why else have Tyrion head to the wall, come back, design Brann a saddle, and head off before dealing with Catelyn?
Also:
Spoiler:
I think they're more likely to deal with Pale Mare in Mereen than Greyscale

A Greyscale outbreak in Meereen would just turn Game of Thrones into a crappy knockoff of Walking Dead. Imagine hordes of Stone Men rampaging through the city?

Awesome episode, though nothing terribly surprising. A little surprised that the 'Siege' of Winterfell turned out the way it did though.

Yep! And that piercing keening on the wind is the sound of a million teens crying in anguish that Kit Harrington is now "dead".

1) Epic magical fail from the last episode. - First time that's happened.
2) Alliser Thorne surprised me. I really was expecting a bit more of a 'plausible deniability' thing from him. Not taking part, not doing anything to stop it either...
I had another major thought, but it's nearly 4am and it's completely gone.

Kit Harrington said in an interview that, from what he was told by D&D, Jon Snow is in fact dead and he will not return next season.
Take that with a grain of salt I suppose.

Decent chance they could be lying though.
Also according to Suetonius, people at Caesar's assassination said that he might of actually said "You too my child?" to Brutus. So in a way Jon had his ides of march when Olly stabbed him.

I agree, which is why I said to take it with a grain of salt.
D&D seem to be doublingdown pretty hard on the "Jon Snow is dead" line though, but it could be part of a well orchestrated campaign of deceit. I guess we'll have to way and see...

Well...that was certainly an episode...where stuff happened, and things were done.
That was a very intense note to leave a season off on.

Subject: Game of Thrones Season 5 - Hyped! [SPOILERS]
I'm still not trusting Daario, especially as drums start beating right after he talks about trust.
Lena Headey's eyes have one this season in my opinion. Going back to when the High Sparrow tells her that there's somebody who told him about her sins and her eyes dart everywhere looking for what the High Sparrow is talking about all the way to how well they show her progress through the walk to the Red Keep. Obviously they couldn't portray her thoughts from the book directly, but those eyes somehow did it.
I was a bit bothered that they didn't give her a longer moment when she entered the keep though. She was close to having some sort of major moment, maybe just her screaming out for Tommen, but they cut it short with Robert Strong.
On the other hand, ROBERT STRONG! FINALLY! Super excited for that. Just need the Gravedigger now, not that it'll happen.
Tyrion's scenes were very nice and I didn't realize how much I'd missed his banter with Varys. The only thing I would have liked to see was a certain pale mare riding in, but there haven't been any prophecies on the show like the ones Quaithe hands out, so I doubt we'll see them outside of Melisandre. I wonder if a certain young man will show up as well.
Sam's back on track to the books. It's just a shame we didn't get to hear Maester Aemon's death speech from the books.
We've waited four years to see Jon get stabbed. I was a bit shocked that Ser Allister took part, as I was expecting a bit of plausible deniability as well.
Blind Arya, right out of the books and it's almost as freaky the second time around. My only complaint is that they made Meryn Trant so disgusting that his perversions started to border on the abstract and take away from it.
No Benjen or Coldhands. Oh well.
They built so much hate for Stannis so that his death would be more acceptable to viewers. That was a complete massacre. He was still pretty fantastic in that last fight though. And Brienne finally got to keep an oath (while breaking one), but Stannis could have said a lot of good lines for his last words.
As for the Sand Snakes, that line to Bronn was kind of awkward. It just felt out of place, even for those two. The double cross on Myrcella will hopefully play a huge role in the next season, but if not, it seems to fly in the face of mama Sand balling at Doran's feet last season.
The only other things is that I wish Sansa had gotten a blow in on Myranda. Maybe with her lockpick/ barrel opener. That subtle pickup a few episodes back played out nicely.

Yeah, when momma snake had the big kiss with the girl, I though hey, I think she just killed her. And then when she's talking with dad I was thinking that this was way too happy of a moment. Like, it was Joss Whedon "someone's gonna die happy."

It really bothered me because just an episode ago, she was sobbing at Doran Martell's feet and he is incredibly against killing children. Then she had that very nice scene with Jaime about love. Now all of a sudden, let's just murder a Lannister girl. At least Jaime got a little closure.
Also, I guess this teaser from before Season 5 was just to rile up book fans?
Actually, it's probably for the best that we don't touch that stuff on the show. It's probably just a red herring in the books (and the last party to arrive in Mereen).

When she was doing the sobbing I assumed at the time she was just sucking up and playing nice and didn't mean any of it. I'm sure the dude had no part in the offence and would off momma if he knew about it.

Feel cheated we didn't get to have the awesome battle scene between Boltons and Baratheon.
Do we assume Stannis is dead since we didn't see the death? Could brienne of tarth stopped through mid swing?
Overall a very meh season, very forgettable outside the white walker battle in ep. 8 Seemed like they lost their magic with season and the Dorne scenes were just painful.

Last episode felt like a let down. The battle for winterfell especially was an anti climax.
Each time they kill off another character I sway a little more to team white walker.
The main issue now is whats the point in becoming invested in a character. They will almost certainelly die.
Need a shock value for season six, bye bye imp?

Well, at least a 9.5 month wait is way, way less than waiting for a book from Martin. So at least we'll all finally know a bunch of the cliffhanger endings from the books at the start of next season.
Also, I highly doubt Snow is gone. And with death comes release from his vows so hopefully we can get him setting the north to right with our short fingered smuggler lord

Holy feth, that episode was A-fething-MAZIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING!
Stannis: Finally he faces the consequences of his endless greed that consumed everything he loved. He dies (well...maybe...) a broken man who saw his fate coming a long time ago. He knew he would have zero chance at winning the battle and lost everything.
The Lord of Light's magic is kiiiinda bad. Sacrifice your own daughter and have the snow melt...yet still face an overwhelming enemy. Sweet deal! Hah.
Dorne: Saw the kiss scene, both of us yelled POISON. Hah, turns out that watching the (terrible) Batman and Robin movie was worth something. Interested in where this is going. Looking forward to the ship turning back and Bronn tearing the Sand Viper's a new one. Should be extremely easy as they aren't good fighters and would fuel the tensions. Wonder if their father knew about it...
Sansa: Uhm...that's a long fall. You won't survive it. I mean...they most likely will. In reality, however, you'd be dead and flat. No, I will not sympathize with Theon. His betrayal is what brought everyone to this point to begin with. He still is utter scum and Sansa is better of getting rid of him as soon as he is no longer necessary.
The Wall: Sam gone...sheesh finally. Knew that Jon would be stabbed by his fellow Crows but he will be resurrected by Lady Melissandre and Winterfell will burn...so she still is correct.
Cersei: Finally got what she deserved. Good scene, the spit in her face was really disgusting. Floppy wiener man is our hero!
Arya: Gem scenes. Outstanding. Brutal and vicious murder, well-acted and choreographed. Ja'Quen scene really got us at first, but we always guessed that it was him all the time. Hey Arya, guess justice really is blind!
All in all, brillant episode. Tied up a lot of loose ends, streamlined the story in important parts and established a lot of cliffhangers while still staying interesting. Hey, only 10 months of waiting now... D:
Varys is back! WOHOOO!
Anyway, there's shadow when there's light:
a) Olli's betrayal...I mean...come on. Way too heavy-handed and predictable.
b) Cersei's body double had pretty darn underwhelming tits.

I figured it out. John is immortal cuz he killed a white walker. When he was laying there in the snow he was like "wft, why aren't I dead?" That means Sam is immortal too, thus all the SamHaters will have to deal with him forever now.
I also predict that FrankenMountain will go kill the stinky priest guy.
I still wanna know what's going on with Bran and Hodor. They spent so much time on their story and now it's like "Bran who?"
