I have made a bit of progress on the next figure... actually it's effectively done save for magnetizing the back pack / jump pack, just haven't had the energy. Feeling much better now though so I anticipate finishing it up this evening. Didn't quite work out exactly as I'd hoped but to be honest I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

Got a 4-day weekend coming up... all the wood cradles are full and both kids are in a 40k modeling/painting frenzy (especially Thing 2... last night he primed all his termigants on his own without my even being there... which I know is no big deal but shows initiative, confidence and enthusiasm that I'm all in favor of).

So, I plan on finishing the build of the first 5-man assault squad and with luck, getting the airbrushing done.

I'll finish painting Tranzen (sp) the Infinite for Thing 1 while he'll be gleefully assembling his new box of Necron Praetorians (into whatever configuration is best... I have no idea). I'll also be helping Thing 2 paint his hoard of termigants (though I'm going to make him do most of the work) while working on his two, custom made Nid drop pods (thanks to Solar_lion). They're big enough and unique enough to warrant some airbrushing games.

We may also go skiiing.... (thbbbbbt!)

I *wish* it looked more like me. And thanks for noticing... you're the first one to comment on it. It's just that in the midst of endless "quick and dirty" paint jobs... it's been the one figure that I've taken time with over the last couple of months... so I thought it deserved a bit of time as my avatar. Besides... I really like the way the eyes and mouth look. Kind of like Lo Pan in "Big Trouble in Little China".

I participated in several local tournaments.
Went to (and played in) my very first con (after 20+ years of gaming), which was Adepticon.
Went to my second (albeit much smaller) con (Rock Con) and played there, as well as having a wonderful chance to get to hang out with some of the boyz from my FLGS in a more social setting.

OH, forgot a *very important* one... ORGANIZED MY MARINE BITZ!!!



What did I give up to do all this??
Mainly... time with my wife. Also time taking care of the house, which then fell on my wife.

Man, on reflection... I owe her big time...

- Built and painted a warlord, warhound and an AdMech army.

- Built and painted a Circle Orboros (PP) army.
- Built an Infinity army.
- Built a Lizardmen army.
- Rebased and painted 2 Imperial sectors (~20 CoD buildings)
- Painted 4 Bastions and a skyshield.

I thought it wasnt that much, but on reflection!

Though to be fair, a very small portion of that is painted. Thats my one stumbling block atm.

Thats on top of going to uni in september, ie having NO free time

-Joined Dakka and promptly became a DCM
-Pretty much painted a Lizardman army up to 2500 points (in the space of a month!)
-Pretty much painted a Dark Elf army up to 1500 points
-Faffed about with 40k and pretty much accomplished nothing for it other than maybe 10 models as my heart's not in it at the moment.

Finished my 'Nids.
Started and finished a WotR army (dol Amroth mounted)
Bought about £200 quids worth of new Ogres and painted them all up.
Started a gaming club and got up to 15 full members in about 3 months.
Faffed around for a bit.
Attended first doubles tournament with Ogres and my partner using Empire (Both were less than standard quality.) and came 25th out of 99.

Well I got back into the hobby after a very long time out.

Holy smokes! Most of you have been far more prolific than I have! No idea how you do it.

Here's some eye-candy for you. These are still missing the chainsword blade "ornamentations", purity seals, etc., but the figures are essentially done as far as their shape is concerned.

So long as he doesn't land on his mate, they'll be fine In all seriousness though, fantastically dynamic poses - kudos.

Im liking the bionic direction you chose for these! Cant wait to see some more. Imo these will be as iconic as the Tranq vets.

Have you got any plans to use the BLACKHAND heads?

I know there's more but if I go in the Nerd Lair it'll wake the Nerd wench and she'll throw the Nerd pillow at me and force me to sleep on the Nerd lounge!

Hmmmm.... looking at the pic... I might re-position the head slightly so it's looking down more. Since these both (and perhaps the nearly the whole unit) will be leaping off of rock piles, it would make more sense, especially with the positioning of the bolt pistol. Don't know if you can tell from the pic, but his right arm, chest, left leg and left hand are bionic. The Srg has really had a tough life. More machine than man at this point.

I have two different variations of the next figure in mind. He won't be leaping... but with luck should be very cool and help the over-all dynamic in appearance of the unit. I would kill for a good source of straight arms. GW hardly makes them... I've picked up a few for my vanguard but if I had them I'd use them all the time. Also, arms with a greater than 90 degree bend would be fantastic.

If I had the time, I'd commission sets from Chapterhouse... but I don't... so I'll have to do them the hard way. Dagnabbit...

@Vit: The BLACKHAND heads are for my later period Mantis Warrior army (post crusade... 100 years after these Badab era marines). One of my stated goals for the year is to complete one full squad for my late period army. I know it doesn't sound like much, but it's a start.

No, don't reposition the flying beaky's head, it looks perfect, the running guy's head might need lowered a bit though. The beaks give a defined sense of head-pointing.
