Hi guys! Thanks for the kind comments... they do indeed look good together. Which is very gratifying after all the work.

Been a bit. Sorry for the silence... just very preoccupied. Took my kids skiing at the local hill a couple of weeks ago and discovered that after 20 years, I could still ski! So I dug around in the basement, found my old skis and poles. Got a fantastic deal on a new pair of boots off the web, then took the set over to the Shop at the ski area & in 10 minutes they had everything set up for me and ready to go (no charge)!. My problem now is that the temperatures are running in the 40s (they have a good base, but you're skiing on slush) and I have something else planned every weekend through February. Bloody hell.

This Saturday, Solar_lion and I will be playing in an Adepticon practice tournament at our FLGS. No painting or modeling scores... this is just to work the bugs out of your lists & re-familiarize yourselves with Adepticon's rather "unique" version of mission objectives. I don't know for sure what army I'll be fighting at the moment. Things could be shifting on the team (army-list wise), so I may undergo a major re-write. However that's not a big deal as the list I will shift into will include a lot of figures that are already built and painted. In essence, I'm not anticipating my P&M work load to increase. I will be doing my best to document our efforts during the day and producing battle reports as a result. We'll see... these all-day tournaments can get pretty grueling and usually by game three my enthusiasm for documenting everything has waned.

I still hope to finish my first assault squad by Saturday, but I must admit... with the re-basing that needs to be done & a major school project that I'm helping Thing 1 with every night, it's looking pretty sketchy.


@Disjointed Entity: Probably not. I have a lot to build and paint... and doing something that has no game-table application just doesn't make the priority list.

Nope DE... I'm sitting this one out. Neat idea... great opportunity for some fun modeling, but I'm very table-top driven at the moment. To many armies and too many folks waiting for trades to divert a large amount of my time to that.

Maybe its time to paint up a Lictor or some such nid unit for T2, and a trade marine for whoever, and put them on an oval base?

I could, but it wouldn't match the competition. I'm fine. I've entered LOTS of mini painting competitions over the last couple of years and come up short. I think I'll just let the army speak for itself as a life-project & let those more talented than I strut their stuff in the painting competitions.

Love to see what people come up with though.

Second... you have to learn to deal with my new and improved Mantis Warrior.... blood angel... thingies.

Well Johnny, as I understand it the West Coast has it's own wealth of 40k tournaments. Be great to see you in Chicago of course, but at least you've got your own options. To be honest in 20+ years of 40k I never attended any kind of con until last year... now I have two of them (both pretty local) on my permanent calendar. Adepticon is very neat. The team tourney is unique and once you lose your first two games the pressure comes off and you can relax and goof off for the last two. Many of the armies are spectacular... that in itself is worth the humiliation ... I mean "the price of admission".

Really.. it is a good tourney. Good Company and nice to spend a day just doing your hobby and picking up stuff from all the merchants.

lol, me and Elluj do enjoy our games of substantial size, but that only consists of about 1/3 of my games, i usually play 1850 or 2000. As for your Mantis Warrior blood angels, nothing a lasgun wont fix (its funny because lasguns are completely useless). And as for Solar Lion, my solution is the same as for your manits warriors, lol. But anyway, see you guys saturday, it seems like everyone is doing this tourney.

It's usually very well attended... as is Adepticon actually (from our FLGS I mean). Frankly I did these practice tournaments even before I started to go to Adepticon... team tournaments are a different animal and a lot of fun.
