Looking forward to the next steps of the process... it'll pull them together nicely and in a hurry... which is good for the ego & motivation.

Yep. Wanted to do sound (ceiling) tile which also works very well, but the cork was available and probably a better fit. It's fun to work with too.

Slow progress... started blacking out the areas that will be metallic. Wife and kids are busy doing things tonight so I should be able to start painting fairly early. Think I should be able to get the metal finished up. Once that's done, it's just detailing, lining and edge highlighting. Good times! Hope to have a pic for you tonight that shows some significant progress. - Gits

Did make progress on the assault squad tonight, though perhaps not as much as I'd hoped.

Have a fun pic for you... "The Road to Adepticon, WIP #1"

Here is my full Adepticon army, with proxies. The pic zooms in nicely if you want a closer look.

I need to build and paint the two assault squads that reside in the razorbacks. One's well on it's way, the other hasn't started yet. Even though I have an apothecary, I plan on building a special one for the army... already have the bits laid out or on order. I'd also like to finish the pod... It's never had the interior bits added or any hazard striping done. The libby is a wonderful one I got through the GMS. I keep thinking I should probably paint my own, but this one is so cool it's hard to not use it. So at the moment... he's in.

Everything else is done. Which is good because it's taking me a *really* long time to build and paint the first assault squad.

They get their first workout tomorrow vs. wyomingfox. We'll see how they do!

Looking real great gits. It is quite clear from that pic why so many dakka users take the time to read and contribute to your blog. The skill, dedication and general awesomeness. So thank you for being an inspiration.

@Johnny: Thank you!

@Cutthroat: Thanks, the display board is Solar_lion's task. Mine will be the presentation of the army lists and back-story.

@CK: Yeah, *grin*... I think that's my favorite objective. Uses RT era bits too!

@proto: You are too kind. But keep it up, flattery will get you everywhere.

@Gir: It's become easier to do these photos since I got the "mondo" sized light box. Flash pics on a table never turn out right as most of the army was always out of focus.

@ImpMon: Yep, BA dex. This is loosely based on the army I normally run, however it's modified to be as flexible as possible to accomodate whatever mission or opponent we happen to get. The other armies on our team are similar in scope but vary quite a bit in make-up. You can check out Solar_lion's army here. Not the best shot but if you page back through the blog you can see some really fine work. He's the one that actually inspired me to finish the inside of my drop pod.

@GS: Fantastic news mate! I hope the model made it OK. You still have one more coming... haven't gotten the pads yet (hopefully they're on their way, they are ordered).

A bit about the proxies...

If you zoom in on the assault squad in the upper right hand corner, you will see one of my tactical sergeants from last year's Adepticon. It occurred to me that there's no reason NOT to use him since he's equipped exactly the same way as an assault sergeant and he even has bionics (since I want that to be a common theme throughout). I will eventually need another jump pack sergeant to go with the assault squad when I play them normally, but if I'm pinched for time, I can just use him. There are 3 GMS marines and the flamer guy is one of my original beakies from ~20 years ago (whenever the original plastic kits came out).

The apothecary is an actual apothecary... Mk-7 but I'm pretty sure from fairly early on. You may ask... what the heck is that gun? Well, its what passes for a storm bolter when you don't have any storm bolters and before there were such things as 40k bits merchants (and you aren't part of a club or anything where you can get extras).

It was completely intact. :-D I noticed the small flamer attachment! Very neat! I have all the parts for a MW of my own now, waiting in a neat little bitz box until I have finished my current painting tasks.

@Cutthroatcure: Didn't. Wife got it for me for Christmas, but I pointed it out to her on the web... so I assume that's where it came from.

Well, wyomingfox and I had a raucous game. My "Mantis Angels" vs. his Space Wolves. Gods they get a lot for the points... Had a lot of fun... and almost.... tied. I thought I was going to get slaughtered the way the early turns went, but things got interesting near the end. Had it gone one more turn we very likely would have tied. One mistake I think cost me the possibility for going for a snatch-and-grab win... but as things played out, a tie was the best I could hope for.

I'll be working on the battle report tonight and will post a link here when it's up. Also will post a pic of where the assault marines stand P&M-wise.

Even with the ridicolous (sp?) amount of pages in this plog, it`s worth a read cause the end result is very nice! I only have one of those jetbikes but I`ll be using yours as a referance cause mine is caked in some form of acrylic paint and the details are quite hard to pick out. Anyways, good luck for Adepticon!
