I think a consistent color scheme is the way to go. Honestly even the emblem might be too much.

Well if that's the way you're going, I'm curious when Devastator will show up. More importantly what the "Devastator" equal is in a Tau army.

Also that Wraith Knight looks the cheese! You certainly got practice in on gems!

Ta Daaaa! more Tau! this time it's my first actual squad finished I painted up the first Pathfinder team and I actually think I prefer the models with just the green and no white accents on them I reckon i'll be continuing the theme of solid colours mainly throughout the force. I was actually really inspired by the leaf insect grasshoppers I see a lot of down here and the Tau helmets resembling the shape of the wings and the colour is also pretty close! it's going to make for a really interesting gaming jungle board for them.

Now, as far as actual painting skill on these guys don't judge me too harshly, I wanted something that was fairly quick to paint a lot of, still look good and not drive me mad so you will notice a few rough areas but they're meant to be 'Taubletop quality' they are intended to be a gaming level army so i'm giving myself a little leeway on the line troops. And as you can see I still like my faces I wanted the squad leader to be a bit weathered so carved his eye up a bit as an experiment, didn't look too bad but I did just notice I need to paint his topknot

They look very festive in an earthy, jungle sort of way. I like them... as much as I can like any tau.

I think the white looks good on the suits, but not really needed on these guys. Some purple tau line squad markings though.....

You've done the impossible - you've painted Tau that actually look good!

Awww geez, thanks guys, They really do have a fantastic range of models! now i've been looking into them I can appreciate the posing and aesthetic of them all and i'm pretty keen to do some more. I would love to do a Riptide *cough cough whalemusic....* and then bust out some vehicles for them. At the moment i'm working on 3 battlesuits and then that's all I have for them :-(

As long as they're magnetised, so they can combine, I'm completely fine with that I was watching Pan's Labyrith the other day and your colour scheme really reminded me of the crickets/faeries in that. Definitely onto a winner!

First time checking in in a few pages, gotta love that Wraithknight, I wouldn't have done so many gems for my own sanity but it looks gorgeous!

Also really like your Tau, I'm a big fan of the colour green anyway, but it's a really nice tone that you've picked! The bases are great too, blend really nicely into the models without looking bland.

O.K well, I don't want to upset you so I did these guys over the last 2 days and now I have painted all the Tau I have boo hoo for me, I think I'll have to look at commander or something next perhaps? I don't really know much about how they work in the game world as i've been Mr Marine for 20 years ( *inaudible screeching about hatred for Primaris*) but I'm liking what i'm painting even though it's a pretty solid level of painting but not pedantic perfection kind of job they look cool!

It’s like you can’t make up your mind. Are they little green aliens or little grey aliens , I guess little grey aliens in green armor works . Your talent with colors is just amazing. You bring out completely different hues than just about anyone else, well done mate.

Fire warriors and Riptides are pretty good from what I can see gamewise and you see the odd Coldstar for some up close action as well.

Well, thanks guys i'm having a running text battle with my mate about starting Tau, he's always thought of me as a marine guy (which obviously I have) but i'm out now no more marines for Damo, unless next year I look at Horus Heresy

I'll still be painting them for friends and whatnot so they'll still be on my bloggy blog but I won't be actively collecting them or liking them anymore

BEAUTIFUL Wraith Knight, and lovely Tau. Top stuff as always, nerdfest!

I finished up my little Sly Marbo diorama, a lot of fun to really get a vibe that worked for him and his pose, I chose pretty vibrant colours to add to the tropical jungle vibe and tried to get the swampy marsh to resemble water that had heavy rain drops pattering the surface? the only thing I don't like is the smoke in his mouth really not something that a man of his skills would be doing since it adds a strong scent to him and would also dull his olfactory senses. But Hey still a cool model







And the other thing I was experimenting with was more weathering, namely rust since I plan on doing a few figures with rust caused by copious amounts of blood I thought i'd begin with a necron lord from a dynasty who's slumber wasn't as fitful as hoped! somehow a liquid that reacted to their bodies was slowly turning them into figures that were more akin to being aeons old. A really nice way to do the rust and it's fun too

Grimy Necrons are really something there aren't enough of, and that mini proves why there needs to be more! Imagine an army like that, rust and tar sloughing from their decaying forms, joins creaking in a mechanical scream, the glow of eyes and blades the only points of light in a sea of dull metal....

Sorry, went on a tangent there! But yeah, lovely stuff. Marbo looks great too!

The rustcrons are an interesting take. You going to be doing more of them?

I like the look of your Cron Lord too, I've seen a good few people use crackle paint to make them appear weathered but never a rusty one!

Fantastic work all around, especially on that rusty look for the necrons. Gives character while maintaining uniformity when expanded to a group.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys! I would love to do more crons like that, especially a destroyer or 2, they were going to be my space marines 'break up sex' army but the Tau won out, not to say I won't keep fiddling around doing them now and then if I can find some cheap models.

But I do have to agree it's a really different look for them and despite its lack of gradients etc it still has enough to draw the eye to the model as a whole. the technique is right up DrH's alley it's a wash made from hydrogen peroxide, salt, vinegar and steel wool.

Beautifully rusty Necron, for sure. Just a few more Crisis suits and you can form Devastator!
