The Marbo diorama is excellent too. It really captures the old-fashioned almost-cartoony 40k vibe, but with a modern high quality style to it. Never thought about the cigar thing either, but you're right...

That Sly Marbo vignette is great! I like that you've found a use for the old jungle trees. I've also got some of those bits left from the 3rd ed. starter box, and I've been thinking about where to use them..

Indeed, I saw a model online and messaged the painter to let him know what I thought of his work and that it was quite inspiring, he promptly messaged me back to help by translating some of his guides into english (I believe he was italian?) and that was how he did the rust and we all know I love me some rusty metal and this just had to be tried! i've got a certain project in mind to use it on and I can't wait!

All of that is just to accelerate the natural corrosion of the steel wool.

Water and extra oxygen from the Hydrogen peroxide,
Acid to attack the metal surface from the Vinegar,
And you'll know that salt makes iron rust quicker if you've ever seen anything metal that's spent some time near the sea.
The steel wool just gives a high surface area to work with.

It all helps turn Fe into FeO₃
I could go into more detail, but...

The final wash is a suspension of Iron oxide particles.
Is all you really need to know.

I have Ultramarines to show you! not just any old Ultramarines though! Oh no, these are special Ultramarines they are made from the series 2 heroes set and I changed a few arms and bits and bobs on them all to make them even more unique they look pretty awesome and I hope they kill lots of things for Moods who is their owner

I also saved some Eldar, yep I saved them from a horrendous paint job! like seriously awful from Blue Table Painting! I don't usually say anything about other painters as i'm by no means perfect but these were awful considering he paid about $1,200AU to have them supply the models and paint them with 'custom' lava bases i'll see if I can find original pics later but for now you can see the rescue.

And now for a much better looking Eldar army! before anyone says anything, YES one leg is backwards not my doing and when I attempted to fix it it was so glued together that it was going to snap the joints so I tried to get it to look o.k without breaking the model.

Lovely work all round, even without being a rescue job those Eldar bikes are incredibly slick. Top stuff.

I think you missed a detail bit on the assault cannon dude's leg. That is a very nice blue on them though. Seems to be getting better as you get more used to it.

Oh yeah, the scroll right above his right foot.

Lovely work Damo. The eldar knight is just wonderful in the bone and blue.

Kinda digging that matte black finish on the WK's head. The bikes and terminators are quite nice, as well.

Great jobs on the blue boys and the rescued Eldar.

How is Blue Table Painting still a thing? I've never seen anything good from them, and it's not as if they are much cheaper than far far better painting studios and individuals.
...And how do you get one leg backwards, seriously...?!

More Nurgle today a slightly different scheme than I usually paint for them but hot damn it's another nice look to the followers of the father of death and decay! a dirty grey with purple/pink accents works strangely well!










Another little thing i'm playing around with is Horus Heresy World Eaters, in particular a Contemptor dread with modeled chains wrapped around his fists that are flying behind him as he roars forward into the fray! i've had an image of them caked and clogged with human viscera rusted with blood and gore as befitting their chapter. Please ignore the rest of the model i'm only starting out the base colours.

I also love the caked gore on the contemptor, that is ferociously legit Nerds Looks like you used some crackle paint in there as well to further the story of how little his armor is kept up? Great stuff.

I'm a sucker for 30k World Eaters. I dig the juxtaposition of the white and blue colors we usually see on Ultramarines with the wild abandon and brutality they are known for.

Thanks fellas, I am going to agree with you whaley! it's the chapters brutality over such a clean chapter look that really stands out I think.

looks like the guy I painted the Nurgle for is happy with them and he;s sending more to me! I also did them in a day and had them on the way back to him :-) which may be another determining factor lol started them in the morning and had them ready to send less than 7hrs later!

If only those Nurgle had drilled barrels and exhausts... is that a task for the commissioner or commissionee? Otherwise I can see why he's happy with them, and that's an impressive time turnaround.

Good job on the Nurgles. Astonishing turnaround time, I can't even dream about finishing a model in 7 hours, never mind a large portion of an army.

I generally paint what I get, if the client sends them assembled and hasn't specified any extra work and want them quick then i'll just whip straight into them :-) i'm more than happy to do whatever though as long as i'm o.k at doing it!

Finished my first HQ for the Tau, an Ethereal on his hover drone I wanted to try and get his skin a little different to the troops and darkened the top and rear of his head to look mottled. everything else is pretty basic layered highlights.

I like the Alien Nation spots on his head.
