I expected nothing and I'm still let down.
I knew it was going to be either about Orks or SoB. I'm not dissappointed because I don't play SoB (or Orks, for that matter). I'm dissappointed simply because what was shown today had already been shown weeks ago.
At least the next 40K preview will probably show more minis for Orks because GW showed already a lot less. Hurray.
I don't know. I hoped that at least GW would show a short teaser (ala Be'lakor) of something completely different right at the end of this preview.

Sorry to say this, but I think these mech suits are awful.
Maybe I am showing my age, but they look too advanced for the Imperiumof Man, or at least the Imperium of Man I used to know.
The Morvenn Vahl model looks like it comes from Warmachines The Protectorate of Menoth.

I’m disappointed that’s all there is.
But I will say, everyone is harking on like these are the previews we’ve had all year.
They’re more about the interviews (and talks that would come with in the physical fest), with a few smatterings of models.
I mean, I’m here just to see the goodies, but just saying it’s maybe more in line with Warhammer fest than the regular previews we’ve benn getting,

I can't help but think that this would have been better received if it had been one day of SoB + Orks. Maybe Orks are getting a LOT of new stuff.
Definitely don't need more campaign books before everyone has a 9th edition codex.
The addition of all the filigree and robe does improve the SoB warsuits considerably IMO though.

What did the 40k players get in comparison?
A gouge book that you need to buy for £40 for 3 pages of rules.
And 2 Sisters of battle models, everything else we have seen months ago.
What really rubs salt into the wound is we are getting campaign books when half the factions don't even have a codex yet, why?
Drukhari got zero new models.
About time you started giving the 40k player base something new.
I already know that Fridays "big reveals" is going to be the beastsnagga kits they already revealed on warhammer community articles.

I don't think it's necessarily 90% of the miniature designers, I just think all of the good one ones get sent over there. I'm not sure if that's a desire thing, as AoS tends to give designers a lot more freedom in what kind of things they can make (giant monster has a lot more range than giant tank), or just because GW is trying to grow AoS or what, but it really shows. I haven't been inspired by a 40k model in years, but I feel AoS has pretty reliably turning out fantastic things left and right.

All they had to do to make this a worthy preview in itself was to detail the road map of the next 6 codex's after AdMech, no need for dates etc, just detail what they are and in what order, give people an inkling of when they will get their codex.
The saving grace on Friday maybe guard though, plastic guard are coming at some point, it could be right at the end of the ork stuff.

One of the french designer (the one who designed Mortarion for 40K) already said the designers are working for both AoS and 40K. Every single one of them.
I suspect it has more to do with the will of GW to develop AoS since they killed Battle. They can create whatever the hell they want because AoS universe is in its infancy (on top of being sorta "high fantasy") while 40K has an already heavily established universe AND design for every faction.
Also, 40K almost prints money on its own. That helps too.

The celestian sacresancts were already revealed in a previous Warhammer Community article. They just showed the variant with halberds, but the article said they could be equiped with maces too. Now we saw them equiped with maces, but that doesn't make them really new.

And if we were dealing with stuff that was leaked, you might have a point - but in terms of the SoB content, only two new models (and the alt-build for a unit) were shown that hasn't already been shown by GW themselves...
The campaign book and scenery box are undubitably news, however = might pick up that box, depending on the price.

Dendarien wrote:100% this. GW just has no ability to set expectations with the fans when it comes to these streams.
I think you've hit the nail on the head here - they're getting a bit better, by (mostly) clearly signalling in advance which games are getting covered now, but not so much the scope of them.
Yesterday's AOS one showed off a reasonable number of new models, even if only for one army book (and a campaign book), while this one only showed two new models - despite the tagline for Friday's 40K preview being "Seriously, we have a lot". That now rings less true because of how much of their already-previewed content they've shown today.
Weds, Thurs & Sat may be worthy of their streams, though that might be because I'm less clear on how much we already know about upcoming Black Library and Boxed Games releases, but there we go.
On the upside? No new SM models previewed today - that's got to make someone on Dakka happy, right?
tneva82 wrote:Well seeing dakkadakka is full of complain and whining if preview isn't at least 100 new kits per faction and new edition gw can't satisfy them.
Post preview dakkadakka whining is best part of previews. Keep it up! Whine! Whine! We want more whine!
Dude, when you're hyping the week up as a big event - and claiming you have "a lot" of stuff to show for one system, so you need two shows for it - a negative reaction to only seeing two new things for a faction (plus a book) is not unreasonable.
Kanluwen wrote:I'm disappointed there wasn't any discussion of the Mechanicus. The previews we've gotten have been absolute crap, focused on basically just weapon changes. We'd normally see that once the pre-pre-order article is released, wouldn't we? If Sunday confirms that, then we'll see that sort of content next week.
Unlike the Death Guard, it seems they've remembered to hold back WHC content to fit with the pre-order schedule this time.
They got one - a resculpt in a new material still counts.

You're not wrong - they could've probably mentioned the pre-order date for AdMech without too much of an issue, then confirmed the next three without an issue ( SoB, Orks, ???), even if they didn't confirm the release months.
Maybe we'll see that on Friday.

So they had too much 40k that it needed 2 days to cover it all. Then they start off by casually recap the AoS day for a while. Then when they have nothing much more to say they are still "ahead of schedule" and go on with a video to get things rolling. And they take time to recap all the Sisters stuff we've already seen and talk about them.
I remember seeing the tank on screen before falling asleep. Reading comments it seems I missed the terrain box (of not-new models) and that's it?
Color me disappointing. I would have expected some of the rumor engine stuff showing up. At least there's another day to wish some something actually new.
