How do!
Thought this might be fun, and I’m starting it now because...
A) Lockdown means I’m not seeing anyone, so I’ve sod all better to do
2) with Christmas presents, I’ve plenty to be getting on withdrawal, and am not intending to expand my two current armies much further.
So, my pledges.
1) Finish off my current collection of Gloomspite Gitz. I’ve more than enough for a 2,000 point army, but I’m one for having options ready to go, so I’m not playing the same list every game.
Z) Get my Indomitus Necrons built and painted.
¥) Buy “interesting” models to develop my painting skills and confidence.
What about you, Dakka?

Utilizing Careful Highlighting
|
1) paint at least 72 models total--dialing back from 144 this year. I made that, but several points felt unfun and l passed doing some larger stuff for units to make count.
2)paint at least one (28mm scale) tank
3)finish off at least one army to fully painted, preferably my WarGods of Aegyptus Basti, and preferably before whatever the next HMGS convention to actually go off is
4)keep working on improving my painting

The Marine Standing Behind Marneus Calgar
|
I’ll write up my formal list once I think on it some more, but it’s probably going to be mostly the same as last year.
Here were my New Year’s resolutions for 2020:
1 Paint 25 SoB
2 Paint more than I buy.
3 Paint At least 12 spare bits. I've magetized a number of things, painted the primary set up, but never get around to doing the other options.
4 Try to get more games in. At least 12, with some being non Floorhammer.
5 Update my blog at least once a week, and maintain a consistent pace of work (1 mini a week).
6 Paint at least one unit for all my army factions. (Ultra, Eldar, Deathwatch, Death)
7 Enter and finish an entry every month for the painting challenge. If the monthly challenge stops, enter at least one comp in the year. In addition, paint something odd from the back of the bench a/o try out a new technique.
8 Buy, build, and/or paint at least one piece of terrain.
Assuming I finish the canoness on the bench, I’ll be done with #1. That will probably be replaced with a faction focus to get my new Tyranid quarantine army up to fighting strength. At least 50PL/1,000 points, with 75/1,500 being preferred. I’m about 35PL/700 points now. The goal for them to too also keep them pile of shame neutral; Paint a unit, buy a unit. Although I did grab the new battle box as a birthday present, so have a lot of painting to do before picking up anything else.
I’ve cut deep into my spare bits. Still a lot of random junk there, but not enough to warrant a goal anymore.
While I like the symmetry of one unit from all my factions, I’m not sure I’m going to commit to maintaining/growing my deathwatch. I still have a few models primed and ready to join them, but not enough for a full unit.

My list is:
1: assemble every model I have in my pile of shame
2: spend at least 1 hour a day painting (maybe not every day but my target is to spend 365 hours painting next year)
3: complete painting on 3 or more armies.
The first one is well on its way to completion only a hundred or so models to stick together now. The other two will be the challenge for me because I just cannot get motivated to paint, hopefully if I make it part of my daily routine I will do loads more painting this year.

I promise to try learning to paint in the Grimdark style during 2021. Oils, Enamels, TMLM, the works. But if life gets in the way again this year and manifests a lot of priorities before me, I might not succeed, and if so, I'll not be all seppuku about it.

1) Going back to painting metal miniatures for most of the start of the year.
2) Planning on not buying any GW stuff this year and instead track down other interesting miniatures to paint and collect.
3) I have a big box of resin scenery I've had for almost 10 years that I'm planning to paint. If only I can find space for them...
4) Buy an air compressor and mini spray booth, again if I can find space them!

Yea I'll bite. My overall goal is always to finish the year with fewer unpainted models than I started the year with. Unfortunately, it seems that 3 years running now, I've managed to buy/build an entirely new army in December and slam myself with a slew of unpainted models in January. In Dec 2018, it was my entire Nighthaunt collection. In Dec 2019, I bought Bonereapers. Now, Dec 2020 I've built my Junk Force (Kharadron Overlords) army.
Thankfully the KO army is small, and I'm making a firm goal for 2021. I will finish the year with no unpainted models. If I've bought and built it, I'm going to paint it. So:
1. Build and paint my Junk Force (Kharadron Overlords). It's only 36 models, so I don't expect this to actually be difficult.
2. Build and paint the scenery for my gaming table. I've already got most of the pieces/parts I need for this, although I will require foam for some of the scratch built elements like rock terrain. Primarily 40k, as AoS doesn't require a lot of terrain, and I'm creating some of my 40k pieces to be cross-compatible, which will be nice for re-use.
3. Finish my collection of busts and 75/150 mm figs. For busts, that's a 1/14 Queen Elizabeth, 1/10 RAF Pilot, 1/10 Battle Sister, and 1/10 Orc. For 75/150 mm figs, I've got a Roman Legionaire, Razgor and Cybergirl from Black Sun, and the Queen of Ecstacy and Plague Angel from Creature Caster (these two will take a significant amount of time I think).
4. Paint Szerakh, the Silent King.
5. Paint my Infinity Combined. This will actually be the challenge; I honestly hate painting Infinity figures and while I do want to learn and play the game, really getting these done is going to be a struggle. But I'm going to try!
6. Slow-grow Deathwatch. I think everybody should own a Space Marine army, and for me, I've settled on the one that lets me do all the Chapters. Especially from a modelling perspective, I really want to push my boundaries on conversions, particularly on sculpting, and I think this army will provide that opportunity for me to up my sculpting game, and focus on building a narrative for each individual model.

Make and paint more terrain for Necromunda and by default 40K City Fight.
Finish all the all the old metal and plastic Shining Spears (they do take a long time to paint to get the white right and the blue stripes on top).
If I can acquire any more old metal Necromunda, paint those up as well so I have gangs for every member of my gaming group who wants to play in person (some time in late 2021).
Cheers,
CB

Step 1 finish painting everything that is currently built or primed
Step 2 begin working down NIB models 1 army at a time
Step 3 Clear out the backlog?
Step 4 Buy storage foam so that I can keep the models stored safely for transport.

1.) Finish something that at least resembles a small army, best bet is Sisters (finishing the 2019 Army Box, getting some extra kits or - depending on the price - the upcoming SoB/DEldar box)
2.) Paint up one complete boxed game / board game, either Blackstone Fortress + Escalation or the first WarCry starter set, including the terrain
3.) Finish at least Cawl and the Yncarne + Visarch from my horrible (and horribly random) backlog

My group started a new year, new army challenge.
2,000 points of AoS was agreed on.
First to have it fully painted gets some unknown reward.
Must be painted to a decent standard, no spraying and saying it’s done.
With that I’m sat here impatiently awaiting my order of 2,000 points of FEC to change from “pending”

I don't usually make new year pledges or resolutions because I find them hard to keep.
But since this is Dakka perhaps I can break that rule a little.
1.Get motivated. Motivation is something I find hard against a backdrop of family life, work and other things. Usually its a case of got 5 minutes free. Plop bum in front of telly and fall to sleep.
2.Perhaps start a blog here. Having to try to show something at least once every week or 2nd week might help improve the motivation issue.
3.Get my eyes seen to. Starting to paint again has shown me just how bad my eyes have become. OK for distance and a bit of reading but close up work on a mini........My finger ends up with more arcane colour then the mini.
4.Find a paint system I like.
5.Set up a dedicated painting area. Something I do not have at the moment. It is a case of working from where ever I can.
6.Continue to check out the local gaming community. So far all I have found has been a couple of small groups of teenagers that have an interest in the Sci-Fi side of things. Too old and not cool enough for them. Looking for a more mature group of people. Guess at my age I am an oddity.(Wonder what ever happened to the mail order trolls?)
7.When this virus thing has passed or begins to ease off a bit I really must start to get around to see what model and games shops in other towns can offer me. I'm really not impressed by any of the shops in my home town.
Many of these things are quite basic, and some like finding a more mature gaming group may take a while to locate. But I am pretty sure most are achievable for the starts of 2021.

Not all strictly painting related, but here are my hobby goals for 2021 (copied from my P&M blog):
1: Paint at least 100 total models. I need to shrink the pile of shame if possible, and that's only going to happen if I get stuff done. 50 a year is just not going to cut it.
2: Paint all of my Indomitus Space Marines. Got started on them in 2020 (4 done), but there's still plenty more left to do. Won't be too hard of a goal, as I'm very much looking forward to most of the models.
3: Get my Sisters of Battle fully ready for tournaments. Whether or not I'll actually get to go to a tournament will of course depend on if they can get a handle on the COVID-19 situation, but I want to have a tournament-ready army of Sisters in case I am able to go. That's going to be a tough one, as I don't actually own all the models I need yet (still want to pick up a couple more Exorcists and perhaps the Triumph of St. Katherine), plus I've got a lot of unpainted Sisters that need work.
4: Get a full army from Middle-Earth done. I've been wanting to get some non-40k stuff done for a while now, but the motivation isn't there. Even my little "crisis of faith" from a few months back didn't really get me doing other stuff, so it's high time I did some non-grimdark stuff for a change.
5: Paint some non-GW models. I've got plenty of candidates, ranging from Infinity to Guildball to Star Saga, plus some actual scale models and stuff, and I've thought about picking up Star Wars: Legion as a side game.
6: Learn to take better photos of my models. This may necessitate purchasing or crafting an actual lightbox, but my current photos just aren't cutting it, particularly on my Sisters of Battle. I'm proud of my painting even if it's not going to win me a Golden Demon anytime soon, and I want to be able to show others my models as they truly appear rather than have their colors look drab and uninteresting.
7: Work on my bitz boxes. I've got so many bits sitting on sprues from kits I've built. Consolidating them into boxes will allow me to toss the sprues and boxes and therefore reduce the clutter in my apartment.
8: Paint more than I buy. I'm going to try to keep track and actually reduce the pile of shame rather than grow it, although I will definitely be picking up some new stuff when it drops.
Bonus: Play some games that aren't Warhammer. I'm calling it a bonus because it will depend on whether the world can open back up, but I'm hoping to maybe try some new games. And I hope to play some more casual games of 40k instead of always playing as if it's tournament prep (my local group is fairly hardcore!).

I had a successful hobby year even with working overtime. So for this year:
1. Keep up with the wife on our space marine army. We are both working on this so it should be decently quick. Right now we are both getting the main units out of the way. After that though I want to redo my armored dread fist while she is looking at bikes and speeders.
2. Complete the models for my WMH gators. Several casters and a battle engine have been sitting undone for two years now. Considering this is my all time favorite army it needs fixed.
3. Expand and finish my PHR. Dropzone is fairly dead in my area but I still love the models for PHR. Cute little walkers and big guns.
4. Paint the figures that came with "The Doom that Came to Atlantic City". It's an awesome board game and the Cthulhu figures that came with the game were worth the price alone.
5. Keep going with gaslands. This game is excellent as a palette cleanser when other projects stall.
6. Start 'One' (1) new army this year.
I have a ton of odds and ends laying around but these are the goals.

1) Paint more than comes in in new minis
2) Finally work out how I'll paint all the bases
3) Get the hang of this airbrush business
4) Finally get an actual 40k army fully painted
5) Fix the positioning of my paint holder on the paint station.
