Thanks guys. It's been an absolute blast to have some time for modeling again. Next week I am away for business, but intend to take a few days off after that and dedicate some quality time for Legion and Pimp my Soceror challenge.

I really like the little Yoda mutant in Shades of Grey. The next instalment looks great although personally I hope it won't just be Death Cult Assassins as I really enjoy the more random specialists you create.

Awesome work so far man! The thumb on the switch is indeed fantastic, just one of those little details that makes you stop for a second and think "Wait... did he really... oh man!" Just splendid!
The only question I have about the gun is whether she shoots it with two hands, and if so, where does the second hand go? As it is it looks big and bulky enough to require two hands to use, but there doesn't seem to be a decent place to put the other hand. If it is in fact a pistol it probably needs to be cut down a good bit. Even by 40k standards it is probably too big and awkward for one hand, especially because she is so svelte withe her DE parts. Rawr!

It's a point I also considered, but in a group of groups it's great to have variety and I think the Inuisitors' varied personalities are really reinforced with different entourages. Some have a plethora of weird mutants and never do wells, some a collection of specialists, and some a brotherhood of warrior monks that all look alike! It's a flamer weapon - think alien 2 - so the lack of recoil and less weight for its volume does make it much more plausible. However, a lithe pistol might have been a modeling choise, for gaming reasons I wanted a proper incinerator Automatically Appended Next Post: ELSEWHERE - the pimp my wizard challenge is progressing nicely. It might not necessarily be a tie in to this project, but who knows yet. Here's some musings from the other thread:
It is often restrictions and apparent "drawing a blank" moments that when conquered provide the best minis (or most other innovations our race has to offer) Scarity and given parameters add focus and or force you to be even more creative to stand apart.
I'm nearly done with my conversion. It's proving to be one of my personal favorites. Being part of a group effort always helps and adds an aura too, but also I picked such ill-fitting upper body that I had to really go town converting it to a coherent, well proportioned whole. I think it's now a very different volume for an =I= and sits very well between the other inquisitors I've done and the large scale Legionnaires. I'm certainly doing the spin-off later and would be great to have some of you guys join - but enough of that, now is now.
I'm going on a business trip to states on monday and will be away for a week. But pics when I'm back and going to keep checking this thread.

I just wanted to comment on how much I like the use of the spear hand, with what looks like a thumb on the switch, for the null rod (I'm presuming). It's a great touch, making it a thing to turn on and off. Great bits all around.

Just realized I didn't comment on Agnes yet and maybe it's for a reason I forgot to. While it is without a doubt a solid conversion and I might have praised it if somebody else would have made it, I've got to say she's not what I've come to expect from you Migs.
Maybe it's just me, because it seems like I'm the only one criticizing, but imo she lacks the je ne sais quoi your work normally has.
It's basicly dark eldar bitz with some imperial hints bashed in. If it's WIP and you planned to blend the dark eldar parts into the rest to create a whole, consider me happily waiting for that, if not it's still nice, but beneath your usual inspiring work.

You know, I totally understand what you are saying, but likely it really is just you (and everyone else who doesn't like it as much as some other piece ). It's interesting how people essentially approach personal taste as some ultimate quality measure that requires a strong statement of it being some how inferior.
I'm very relaxed about this all these days. Just awesome when I have a moment to do models, beneath or beyond anyone's taste - who knows.

Brian Nelson is seemingly given time to do these absolutely fantastic one frame plastic characters. Starting with the wizards and now gorgeous new undead models.
My latest =I= (Not agnes, but the one for Pimp my wizard) will get a retinue made solely from these new Nelson sculpts. And look at that Ghoul riding the Terrorgheist! That is so going to be the sickest ever archoflagellant conversion.

Fantastic models I must say. The detail, features, volumes and imagery is getting significantly better again!

You read/sound a little offended and I hope you neither took it for a strong statement nor for a ultimate quality measure on my behalf. I didn't intend either, I was merely intending to provide C&C. Maybe I should have been less direct, but I expected you to shrug that off.
While my personal taste of course has some impact on my judgement, I wouldn't say that this was the case here. It's a solid model and the fact that it doesn't make me drool like your shades of grey stuff hasn't had any influence on my comment.
I was mainly trying to say that the conversion is quite simple and imo that's a fact, especially if we compare it to your others.
Again, not bad, just simplistic compared to your usual standards.
The only bit of personal taste as quality measure I'm willing to admit is my dislike for the unchanged dark eldar details.
I'm very relaxed about this all these days. Just awesome when I have a moment to do models, beneath or beyond anyone's taste - who knows.
Yeah, and who cares? We're doing it for ourselves, just because it's a nice hobby. Enjoy your (scarce) hobby-time!

Ooooh, I didn't know the better pictures yet! Yes, that ghoul looks great and I'm sure there will be some nice conversions with those new models, especially if we manage to keep the "pimp my wizard" trend alive.

Not offended. Amused with the interweb. The other guy might say it's one of the best and the next one it is beneath me. Both like it is some exact science. I go to a nice restaurant, I get a quality meal, but the second dish might not be quite like the 4th. Different dish rather than beneath the chef? The imagery of twists vs. angelic is kinda different. I don't know how I should react . Probably just say thanks all round
So thanks!
I just want to have fun modeling and share for what little pleasure it may give folks here on a board that has given so much to me.
Best regards,
migs

It's a BA torso front and back (sanguinary guard), with a Grey Knight terminator psychic hood modified to fit it.
Once I've painted him, I'll share lots of shots. With the shoulder guards finished with proper spikes - he is quite Blanhian in a good way I feel The face of the hammer is a very cool light-fixture part from some modern tank kit.

Bit of a repeat from the Wizard Challenge, but:
I started painting today. "look ma no hands". It's been a while. I have some great reference material for my reds and the feel of the model/imagery. A combination of Blanche, Allan Carcasso, Goodbrush and Fichtenfoo. All artists from different genres that I admire deeply. Bit of JRN tricks thrown in too
I'm so happy to do bright, deep reds after the whole moon light saga with the legion!
I guess it's time for that =I= trilogy blog thread.
