What about Codex: Angels... an alien, extra-galactic or planar race drawn here by the emergence of thier warp-enemy Chaos beings?
Once masters of the warp but some of them driven insane and terribly mutated over time and through warp accidents these beings were the predecessors to Chaos entities and shunned the use of the warp for their own protection. Moving about the Galaxies trying to cut off the warp rifts they find to trap the 'evil' within it.

I know there are some fluff-bumps but someone could run with that idea I am sure. Obviously being Xenos they would come to blows with the Imperium, be mortal enemies of Chaos, etc.

There would be a better name as well, I only used that (Codex: Angels) as an attention grabber and it represents the idea of the types of beings that would be represented. Something like the archetypical angels, ancient gods, celestial beings of light, etc.

That which does not kill us, makes us stronger. That which kills us, makes us stronger. We are the terror in the night, the shadow in the warp.

Codex: Imperial Wolves

Like the Space Wolves, but imperial guard. So basically, ork style humans. Large numbers, close combat, but with multiple new variants of the Leman Russ tank, including the Leman Russ Immolator as suggested by Corpsman_of_Krieg.

Or maybe even bring back 13th Company

if you havent noticed, I like the space wolves

"So when do we get our tank?"
We've already got it, it has been with us the whole time"
"No we don't, its just 10 of us, and a Washing Machine"
"That is the tank...."
"There's no way im riding in that, it sucks a-"
"Leman Russ rode in that rhino back in the da-"

Codex: Succestionists

Imperials that have fallen from grace, but not to chaos, and are hunted down by their former masters, and so have to steal/scavenge all sorts of weapons from different races, they also can have mercs. from other races too. also in their ranks would be unsanctiond psykers who have some "interesting powers" and mabey some imperial workforce mutants(mabey).

also Codex: LOST AND THE DAMNED, that includes units like Blood Pact, and Sons of Sek, and other 'god' related unit types

and Codex: Ad. Mech would be cool too

I would make a codex called something like
Codex: Diggas.
it would be based on humies that want to be orks, and in turn ally themselves with the green menace and the imperials get reeeeeaaaaly p***ed off with them and stuff like that....

Roight ladz, Get stuk in!
All over Ausralia, "KEEPIN IT GREEN"!

right behind you...

Adaptus Mechanus. Plenty of original stuff, crossover with Tech-Marines in training. Cool new vehicles that they are still working out as to whether they are sufficiently "old" to be "re-released" to the imperium

Fallen/Chaos/Dark Adaptus Mechanus (currently reading Dark Adaptus, good book, Chaos AM would make a good army imo)

If it were possible, it would be this:

http://bolterandchainsword.com/Tyler/CodexIronHandsReduxBannus.pdf

Failing that, it would be nice to hit on the Hrud, or possibly SQUATS. Either would be a nice addition to 40K IMO.

Bring back the Demiurg, mean Squats.

Though for a new codex I think a Merc Force with many races being represented would be great. The Demiurg could be worked into this. Maybe have them do the hiring to fight proxy wars. I really just want ork and eldar pirate themed armies on the table again.

4 MEGACODEXES!

I think I'd like to see a compsite codex series, in hardback, each the size of the rulebook itself! With all the codexes for the game in them! 4 Volumes:

Imperial Armies: (Sisters, IG, Daemon Hunters, Adeptus Arbites and Mechanicus, Armored Company)

Loyal Space Marine Chapters: (We know them, at a minimum; Blue, Red, Green, Grey and Black ones)

Xenos: (Tyranids, Tau, Eldar, Orks and Necrons)

Forces of Chaos: (LATD, All the chaos chapters, at a minimum, Red, Pink, Blue and Green ones, Daemons)

Each with cleaned up Allied rules for those who would end up fighting together and expanded additions for historic units (bridge rules for units that use to be in the game!) Possibly also include the formation cards for play in apocalypse as well!

That would be sweet, like the imperial armor books!

My vote would be Mechanicus - although Mechanicus already has a book - it's called Demonhunters Counts As. But a Mechanicus book with the 100+ pages of fluffy goodness and models and all the opther additional stuff that accompany a new army.

There is an attitude that not having an insanely optimized, one shot, six stage, omnidirectional, inevitable, mousetrap of an assassin list army somehow means that you have foolishly wasted your life building 500 points of pure, 24 karat, hand rolled, fine, cuban fail. That attitude has been shown, under laboratory conditions, to cause cancer of the fun gland.

I would do a Rouge Trader Codes, based around the concept of retinues, Ala the inquisition.

Rouge traders would never have "units" per say, but they would pick up fantastically skilled individuals, that could be supported by other members of the crew.

gun servitors, kroot mercenaries, rouge psykers, strange aliens, veteran guardsman, Bounty hunters, Mutants, ratlings, priests, disgraced sisters, gang fighters, pit fighters, sages, eldar raiders, rangers, Hrud, could all be possible as members of the different retinues.

this would make the army totally unique, while still operating within established rules.

A rogue trader book would include everything I wanna be a part of.

Also, you forget, Rogue Traders are often close allies of the imperium, so they sometimes took SMs and other such forces with them. Or at least they were in the olden days.

In codex: abhumans, i reckon they should make them an add on to Imperial Guard armies or a totally new army will loads of cool special rules like Fear and Feel no pain etc.

I was thinking both; half the book detailing noncompliant worlds where they're stand-alone armies with all their nifty rules, and the other half detailing IG abhumans that lose a chunk of their special rules but gain the Allies ability with the IG to make up for it. Sort of a Codex: Daemons/Codex: CSM generic daemons thing only in a political sense instead of a metaphysical one.

@Rockit, Im working on an Angel Army theme for fantasy. Making your own rules is tough, especially balance issues. So I just use the Deamon rulebook. It works. Just swap out the models.

As for a Codex in 40k, HOw about Codex: Skaven? Those sneaky bastards have some dangerous firepower in fantasy, can you imagine the destruction (on both sides) they could wrought in the far future?

"OKay, I launch the Skaven Omega. Crap, misfire. Crap, I rolled a 1."
"What does that do?"

I made a fan codex for the Covenant from halo.

It is so big now, that I had to upload it as a torrent, here is the link if anyone wants to download it:

http://www.mininova.org/tor/1124231

It is not finished, mostly the fluff, but the army list is complete if unbalanced and untested.

THe army list has everything so far seen in halo for the covenant, plus a few thing I had to make up.

It includes the elites, the brutes, the hunters, the grunts, the jackals, and even the prophets, with all the vehicles so far seen for the covenant included, with list based on the 4th ed rules, once 5th ed comes out and I have some familiarity with them I will upgrade it and finish it.

Please give me some feed back

I want to make a codex about superhuman soldiers who go through several years of physical and mental augmentation to become some kind of... I dunno, marines in space. They have psykers called book-keepers and they go to battle with guns that shoot explosive bolts and wearing powered armour.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Wow, what a novel idea!

Not sure if this one was taken because I'm not gonna read all the posts here but here's what I'd do. Not exactly a codex but I'd split the core rulebook into different sections (i.e.~ senerios, turns, modeling & painting, ect.) so that you wouldn't have to bring the whole big honkin' book with you to game and you wouldn't be confined by the mini rulebook from the starter set.

Who needs to carry around a big book like that when you aren't going to use over 90% of the pages???
