Since you guys are apparently in the know, have there ever been any bug pokemon that weren't completely useless simply by the virtue of being bugs? I loved Scizor in gold and Ninjask/whatever the ghost version of him was called but they got destroyed by nearly anything that looked at them funny.

Both is fine! Just like this pic everyone is confused!

Lessee...

Scizor is a fairly durable(thanks to great typing) physical sweeper with the ability to do some decent support through swords dance and baton pass.

Ninjask is one of the best baton passers in the game.

Heracross is a godly physical sweeper.

Fortress is a great physical wall, rapid spinner, and has access to spikes, toxic spikes, and stealth rock.

Yanmega would be a decent special sweeper, but gets raped by stealth rock.

I never really liked bug Pokemon, with Scizor being the exception.

This thread has gone from "How do we make pokemon better?" to talking about competitive pokemon.

I approve of this discussion.

One means the Mechanicum truly loses their gak, and the other means the Eldar realize that Vaul is really a toaster and experience religion fail.

Right now I'm playing through Leaf Green, with Squirtle as my starter.

My party currently consists of:

Wartortle
Pikachu
Geodude
Bellsprout

I was going to use a Paras in place of Bellsprout, but Paras wasn't learning any Grass/Bug moves when I wanted it to And Bellsprout came with Vine Whip.

I am currently in Vermillion City about to board the SS Anne.

Any specific Pokemon I should have at this point? I might pick up a Drowzee or (if I can) an Abra for Psychic attacks.

You can make your way through the main game without any trouble with just about any party setup. You're fine.

It's once you get into the competetive aspect that things change considerably.

Arkani is the best Fire Pokemon. Charizard's attack just aren't as strong because, he's a Fire/Fly type.

Just as I don't go to any 40k tournaments, competative pokemans isn't my thing either, so I'll leave this section to you guys

Sorry for the Threadnecromany, but I felt I had to tell you the following:
I borrowed a FireRed from a friend of mine who got his from some store online. I really wanted to play real Pokemon again, not that crappy diamond and pearl stuff.
So I started the game and I rad "the safe file has been deleted". My first reaction was: okay, nice of you to tell me that, game. So I played it for about 1 1/2 hours or so, beat Brock, already had a Pikachu and stuff and was looking forward for a nice trip down memory lane. Though every time I started the game it told me that "the save file was ok" which was kinda wierd. I mean, why shouldn't it be?
10 Minutes ago I switched it on again and I read that the saffe-file has been deleted. I have no idea why. I played on my DS (the first one) and there was only Mario Kart in the DS slot. Now my save file's gone and I have no idea how and why. This really pisses me off. I was so looking forward to playing it again, but if this happens to me once after 90 minutes of playing, I don't want to experience it again.

Did anyone ever heard of that? I was looking up some stuff online and appearantly this is a frequent issue with the game but nobody ever gave a good answer to that. I treat my stuff right. It didn't lay in the sun, there wasn't any dust, etc.

So, this kinda pisses me off big-time. I go play FF6 again.

Dude, just download an emulator and a rom for it.

It's because the battery backup has drained of energy. you're gonna have to open up the case and replace the battery.

See, emulators are the win. I remember my GBA. The bloody thing couldn't survive being thrown against a wall. Hey, I'd just died for the thousandth time on Elevator Action and I was only ten.
