Ok that settles it. Hell Pit is a must purchase. Damn you GW! Doom Flayer and Ikit Claw also pretty cool. Plague Claw/Warp Lightning Cannon is a slight misfire but I didn't really want those anyway.

Hellpits sure are hellish! (in a good, HP Lovecraft meets Rat Infestation kind of way)

My only grumble is the erect tails. Tails should be wavy. Not unfixable though.

Skaven are fast becoming my second favourite army.

Best models Ive seen outa GW in a while. I can only hope that Orcs get something as cool as these things! Regardless, at this point its tempting to start a skaven army!

Pure mcawesomesauce. I cannot believe that my 3 main armies are Blood Angels, Dark Eldar and Skaven.. I thought I'd at least get a break between Dark Eldar waves...

First impression:
1.) My favorite model and surpassing my expectations is the shredder.
2.) Ikit is an okay variation of the existing warlord models, but far too close in pose and detail to justify an extra model.
3.) The Plague catapult is also a bit uninspired, just a catapult with no visual extras. Not a model you buy whatever the rules.
4.) The cannon is an okay variation of the old model but suffers from being in the same kit as the catapult. Personally I prefer the old model, but I have a good idea on how to convert it to look better (lower the cannon and add a roof).
5.) Expected the HPA to be closer to the original art. This one is very difficult to paint well, would have preferred the main head to be more rat-like. I have no final opinion to this one, also depends on all the choices in this kit (e.g. the seen alternative Skryre arms and jaws). But there are two other non-GW takes on a HPA that I both liked on first sight. At least we have now several good options for this unit.
6.) Warp grinder and Tretch seem to be missing on the preview pics.

Thats some pretty awesome stuff. I might have to switch from Beastmen to Skaven!

Although this release does have me pumped for whatever kit they make for the Cygor and Ghorgon(hopefully)!

Agreed, doomflayer wins it for me, and is also the only model I will likely buy (three of)

On Ikit, he was my favorite special character back when I started fantasy, and I think I prefer the original sculpt of him I've still got kicking around somewhere.

Shouldn't be too hard to make both the catapult and cannon out of the same box, with a little creative use of plasticard. Will definitely be getting almost all of these (Ikit and the Doom Flayer don't do anything for me).

HPA is cool.

"Sitting" looks better than original "crouching".

While the Doomflayer does indeed look almost exactly like the one in the book... I wasn't that thrilled with the look of the one in the book. I've converted three from other weapon teams (two from Ratling guns and one from the IOB Warpfire thrower) that I like better.

need a second pair of eyes on this....look at the catapult pic, and then look at the rat ogre in the background....its a new design one, and I am 85% sure that it is not a IoB one!? can someone look and affirm/deny what I am seeing?

Some nice models in there. Not sold on the Hell Pit, I've seen some better conversions, but it's not bad.

heh. i dont know, the position of its back, the lack of fur and bandages on its face make me think its not...it could just be the paintjob and the position, but it was nagging at me

Good models imo.. MODERN plastic models >> 1990s metal or no models

Long as theyre decent sculpts they are a vast improvement over what is currently available

I have to be honest, I am quite disappointed with the catapult/cannon, maybe it's just the pics but I still prefer the old metal one. At least the old one actually looked like a weapon, not a meteorite with an antennae! In a plague-klaw configuration, it would look really awesome if they didn't use the massive warpstone chunk as the counterweight, it just looks tacked on and doesn't fit in at all.

As for the HPA, I'm not sure yet.

Can't comment on anything else, as the rest of the images have exceeded the bandwidth!

Unless we get some shots of plastic weapon teams/globadiers (or at least something I can convert) I feel quite disappointed with the pics so far,considering how much hype was given to the rumours.

You know, like when you get to the toy part of a kinder egg.


EDIT: Having now seen all the pics properly, (they came up after I posted my little rant ) I am now sold on the HPA, what put me off was the pic where the model has quite clearly only been done using 2 paints, tallarn flesh and gryphonne sepia!, the more colourful one looks rather more striking).

Like the doomflayer, despite having the parts specially ordered to make one now sitting in my house (these may now be used to convert a better WLC, given the lacklustre model shown).

As for Ikit, just had a little nerdgasm there...
