I go away for a day and this is where the thread goes? Sigh....
Well, I, for one, would never make an army like this, but I wouldn't refuse to play it, if it were done well. I think you could even do a Zoat army from Fantasy as a "counts as" army from IG or Tau army lists and could probably rock a good paint scheme out of it.
If you stuck with standard IG troops (or, really, any other humanoid army) I think you could make it subtle enough that, unless your fellow player was "in the know", or you came right out and said it's a Pony Army, they'd never get it. You could easily do a custom SM Chapter in dark purple armor with the Chapter Insignia being the moon crescent. I don't think anyone would really notice.
On a few other things I've spied in the last two pages....
Pink, as a girl's color, is definitely a societal construct. Time ago, the color for boys' clothes was pink, and for girls was blue, because pink was closer to red, which was the manly-man color. This changed less than a century ago.
Anime, as a genre, is neither "for kids" or "for adults". It's simply a storytelling method. I've seen anime that were definitely "for kids" and I've seen anime that were as dramatic and heavy as an episode of "NYPD Blue" (and in many cases moreso). Japanese Animation is simply a vehicle for telling a story, whether that story is a comedy, a fantasy, a sci-fi action thriller, supernatural horror or a police procedural drama. What gets exported from Japan to the rest of the world probably skews perceptions of it, however.

See now it's getting unreasonable. No offence man - the first post of mine I meant what I said that it is your army and you do what you please. And the concept of a galaxy-styled army is pretty cool. But the moment you start plastering Ponies over it I think many people would take it far less seriously and turn down games against you. There is such a thing as going Over The Top. If you want said army to leave a good impression, the Ponies have to stay behind.
Also I recall someone asking why ponies are considered feminine. Well, no, they aren't. Horses or ponies aren't something you can assign gender bias to (eg only girls ride horses). Ponies meanwhile (that's with a capital P all the time in any circumstance of reference) would be associated with MLP, which I would think was aimed more at a feminine demographic.

"My little Reavers"
The guy actually did a pretty good job painting his jetbikes in a way to mimic Pony paint-schemes; that said, I don't like it. I think the brony thing is a bit ridiculous and kindof worsens the "social-outcast/neckbeard" stigma that comes with WH40k players. It is frankly kindof creepy, thinking of a bunch of adult men watching it. Regardless, I wouldn't refuse to play against it because I don't like it. That in it's own right confuses me; I'd figure most haters would want to play a MLP army, because they want to beat them so bad. I'd fistpump every time I downed a pony-themed unit. Come on; who wouldn't enjoy that?
Get roughriders though; maybe even DKOK riders. It's not pony enough without them.

I said I just MIGHT put them on there as removable decals, really I'm still deciding. However after seeing those pink Necrons I think really anything is possible.

I don't know about OP, but that would be a bonus for me. People like that seriously creep me out. There's something very juvenile, very "Comic Book Guy" about people who react like that. Frankly, I'd be glad to have an army that helps me avoid them. As in my previous response, I'd say the opposite. It's people who take this stuff so seriously that seem more like social outcasts to me. That's just plain childish, which is, of course, a hallmark of hardcore nerdery. I prefer people who are chilled out and have a sense of humour about this sort of thing. They seem far more socially acceptable to me.

I love customizing my Models, and I'm still trying to get some tiny speakers to put on my Baneblade to play Imperial music and such while I do battle, as I loved the Idea from the book "Imperial Glory" of putting vox-amplifiers on your tanks to play hymns and shout orders. I just feel like I'm stuck between doing what I want to do creatively and what I acceptable.
Do Ork players have problems like this?

Also: those are some of the awesomest colour schemes I have ever seen.
They just work so incredibly well with the Eldar's retro sci-fi aesthetic that I almost feel compelled to actually go out and buy a bunch of Eldar jetbikes and do the exact same thing with them. Hell, maybe make a whole Saim-Hann * army all with crazy individual colour schemes... Those paintjobs just made me fall in love with Eldar all over again. <3
*EDIT: Whoops! Forgot I was looking at Dark Eldar reavers, not Eldar jetbikes! Honestly... Saim-Hann, indeed! Tut-tut. It's the bubble visors that threw me. Those are totally the sort of thing Craftworld Eldar would wear. Psychedelic jetbike detachment, psychedelic reaver gang: it's all good.

I definitely agree with this. If you can't have a good laugh when someone paints their army like that sample Necron army, or this army, and just get on with the game then you are what is wrong with the hobby. It is, after all, a game and while GW prefers you paint your minis the sky is the limit when it comes to *how* you paint them. They are your minis after all.
I still stick by my original assessment that if someone refuses to play against the "pony" army and complain a lot about it, it is most likely because they didn't think of it first and are feeling sad and dejected now because someone else did it.

Very well said. People should not get so angry over a hobby, especially when it's accepted to do paint like the Necron pictures posted above.

Alrighty, I have decided to make this army and today I went and bought the paints.
I even confessed my intentions to the staff there after they were asking about my strange paint choices and asking them about any Lunar, moon decals. They were in total support of me, and said they would allow the army to be played there.
I would also like to thank everyone who supported my decision in this thread! I will post pictures and photos as the painting and build process goes along.
Thus Luna's Legion was born!

Yes, there will be many wonderful pictures to come, I have even been working on attaching Vox casters to my Baneblade to play the New Lunar Republic theme!
I fear however I will need to do a lot of Experimenting to trying and make a decent Luna Lord General model. I have been getting my concept pictures and inspiration by taking pictures or just looking at the night sky outside my house.
I live on a farm so it's easy to see the stars on a clear night, it's beautiful really. I might even start painting outside when it starts to warm up a little bit!
Remember folks! Magic is Heresy!
