Ragnar and Njal are older, as said earlier they are late Rogue Trader from a Space wolf list that appeared along side the redone CC rules that became standard in 2nd. The thing I like about the 5e SW codex is that we finally got our wolves back.

I think TWC will be a nice addition, I would pick up a set if I could.

Both Mephiston and Dante are from Codex: Angels of Death in 1993. They're firmly in 2nd edition, yet Dante has aged far more gracefully than any other models of the time, barring Azrael.

Sounds about right, The only thing wrong with Dante is the lack of wings on his jump pack. Mephiston looked stupid from the the time I hit 18 onwards (probably did so before but I was way too teenage boy...)

Angels of Death was from Spring 1996, not 1993. It was brand new when I got back into 40K. Right before the Chaos Codex.

And I agree that Dante and Ezekial are some of the best remaining sculpts from 2nd.

My god am I on a roll for getting the dates wrong in this thread! Thought it came out with the starter box in '93, since when I picked up the box at a flea market it came with the book. My bad!

Love the character of Mephiston but never really liked his look in model form. Looks a bit too gothic/vampiric for my taste, sort of like he should be in a fantasy setting if you took away his pistol. I hope he gets a more 40K resculpt at some point in the future. Sort of reminds me of Rutger Hauer in Buffy.

Well, his model is based on the armor in Bram Stoker's Dracula:

It's pretty overt he's meant to be a vampire. I actually like the amount of detail on the model, but find the pose to be very, very dated.

So long as the models don't go along the lines of the Ogre Kingdoms Mournfang Cavalry or the Beastman Jabberslythe in terms of cartoony design, I think I might pick up a box. I wonder how many there will be per box?

They'd be comparable in size to Bloodcrushers, so I'd say best guess is 3.

I only remember because I bought it right after walking into my first GW shop, in Springfield, VA. Burned into my memory. I had been away from the hobby for about four years, and I got sucked back in something fierce. Had just started my first job, so I had paychecks to waste.

And waste them I did

16 years later...what difference does three years make anyway?

As the TWC are a 1-5 unit, I absolutely expect three in the box. Hopefully with a P.I.M.P. power fist.

Ideal set would allow for different bionic legs and heads and a whole new set of heads/torsoes for the riders. Dare we hope for a "champion upgrade" sprue? Some bits to make out an Iron priest TW rider would be nice if we dont get a generic HQ/IC box as part of this "second wave".
As you can see, I expect far to much from this kit

Edit: Not saying an Ironpriest would be crucial for gaming purpose, but riding a heavily bionical TW, the model would probably look sweet.

It all depends on how those (Thunder)wolves look.

If they look anything like the Canis wolf..... no deal.

(but I fear they will look like that one to preserve the overall similar look)

Sounds too good to be true. A plastic WL? Arjac? New "Fenrisian" wolves???

I'll just count on three TWC in plastic. Anything else would be a very welcome surprise.

And a significant splurge, assuming the wolves look good.

Clarification by Bobske:
checked the list
Thunder wolves (3)43 eur
Wolf lord on thunderwolf (1)33 eur
Fenrisian wolves (5) 19,50 eur
Arjac 21 eur
These and the nids come out on march 3rd
17th march
hellcannon 45,50 eur
2x Glue
No pictures, no wing information

We will see, if GW can sculpt good looking wolves for the first time.
straightsilver wrote:A colleague of mine has just told me that he went past the Bromley GW this morning and they may have (mistakenly) put the new Fenrisian / Thunderwolves in their display cabinet at the front of the store.

I don't suppose anybody can confirm this?

If so can they get pics? My colleague unfortunately won't be back that way for a while, and didn't realise the significance of such a thing so didn't photograph them....

It may not be them, but he said they were great big plastic wolves with great big blokes riding them.......

Not liking the prices for the TW and lord (especially if he indeed is plastic).

Hellcannon though has actually become cheaper in failcast

at those prices i expect the lord to be fine cast and the others plastic which means a lot of converting gonna be going on!

But hurray for Thunderwolf cavalry at last!

On a side note Its a but chilly down here in hell now that tyranids finally got their 2nd wave xD

Depending on what bits come with the lord it may be worth just converting a lord from one of the standard thunder wolf boxes and some extra bits.

especially since thunderwolves are 1-5 and its rumoured that you get 3 per box

Thunderwolf price point is the exact sampe price point as Blood Crushers. Considering they're very likely going to be the same size, though with more upgrade bits than Bloodcrushers come with, it's basically the price point everyone should have expected.

Wolf Lord on Thunderwolf almost looks like a typo. 3/4 the cost of a pack of 3 TW cavalry for a single model that can be kitbashed with one of the models in the TW box and various bits from the SW range seems unlikely. Unless, as said above, he's Finecast. In which case, you're likely still better off kitbashing one TW cavalry model into a lord.

I still think LoTR Wargs might be cool to use as Fenrisian Wolves. They give that "not quite wolf" feeling, but look nicely savage.
