I'd like to see a mark of the wulfen model or even better bring back the 13th company wulfen models.

I'd like some kind of model for guys with MotW, but the old Wulfen models were fugly apemen looking things.

Thunderwolves would have been something cool to field with the old SW 13th company (maybe as Fenrisian wolves that were affected by the warp- or injected with the canis helix so they are pseudo-wolfen), but that's it.

Space wolf bikes are only available to be crewed by Blood Claws, which are BS and WS 3. Thunderwolves, on the other hand, have rending in combat, S/T 5. 2 wounds and 4 attacks each. Only real downsides are the lack of meltaguns (you can take a plasma pistol on ANY model if you're willing to blow the points), and the fact that there's very few opponents out there who don't look at thunderwolves and immediately plan to overcompensate to deal with them.

To continue with the wolfy them, maybe GW are going to update the normal ancient wolf models that people are still using that has only one basic pose.

My brother used HE lion chariots to make his T-wolves and they certainly look the part.

Wrong.

There are two sprues. The other has running legs and an open mouth (see here) meaning you can make 8 different poses just by mixing the heads and legs in different combos.

I thought about doing that with the lions from the high elf chariot. They look big enough.

They really do! I think they could make a really good basis for a conversion, but I had something more tiger-ish in my head, and you know what its like once you get a picture of what you want, its difficult to look at anything else objectively.

These guys make a really good plan B though, or to mix it up a bit, thanks for the sharing!

Wow Grimtuff. Sorry i'm wrong there is more than one pose. However still could do with an update anyway something like this could look a bit better than the current wolf.

I assume this give a bit more variety than the current wolves.

If it is possible for VCs don't see why not for normal wolves?

You know the bad ass with the pit bull on a metal chain? That's what I see. Since they are wolv-ish themselves they would be their closest of kin.

Didnt they have to go out into the wild as part of their 'test' to become a man ? Or, go to die by the wolves in the tundra,,,,I cant remember..

They have the test of Morkai which is the first phase of the geneseeds and the most dangerous. They basically make the aspirant drink the first geneseed the Canis Helix, dump him a thousand miles from the Fang. If his body and mind can accept the Canis Helix without turning into a mad man/raging beast and make it back to the Fang on foot alive. He then gets the rest of the geneseeds. More fail than suceed from memory.

While a little off topic. The "there are no Wolves on Fenris" is an interesting one. I think it was Prospero Burns but could have been Battle of the Fang where a SW character is attcked by some sort of Warp entity, I cannot remeber exactly. A Wolf steps into the frey and you cannot help but feel the Wolf was more than an animal. You got the impression it carried the soul of a fallen Space Wolf. So when you say closest kin. This may be nearer the truth than you think. Than again I could be remembering it wrong.

I could be wrong but I feel the Wolves on Fenris are similar to Eldar Warpstones where they can carry the essence/soul of fallen Space Wolves. Maybe this is why the Space Wolves like having them around although they probably approach it from a belief/lore angle rather than psychic knowledge. I know this is a bit out there but I think there is something in it. It could even be they devoured fallen aspirants and by doing so some how take on their soul and the aspirant fights for the Space Wolves in a different way/has an affinity. One day GW & the Black Library may explain.

nice post bro,,,,
Makes me want wolves even more now,,, to considerthem as fallen heros is awesome. Could be a telepathic link to the living. just sayin!

Going to put this post in spoiler, just in case it were to upset anyone
Spoiler:
It's pretty heavily hinted that the wolves of Fenris are either the souls of fallen Marines, or (and I think more likely as the first option is a little too spiritual for 40k!) possibly those that have fully succumbed to the curse of the Wulfen, if they retain an element of intellect, that would really help with the whole concept of TWC.

Whatever happend to Freki and Geri anyways, are they still in fluff anywhere?

it was in Prospero Burns when the event happen. I think the wolf was described as Chimaera put in his post.

I am an Old School player, I still have my copy of Rogue Trader and the first compendium of white dwarf articles from white dwarf, and I do like the idea of Space wolves riding larger than life wolves. But that's just me.

Both he and Ragnar Blackmane are old 2nd ed sculpts. There was a rumor of a new Ragnar a while ago, but it was by one of the many rumormongers who just liked to vomit out false information.

Well, the scouts have been made redundant, as there are conversion bits in the Wolf Pack box. Things become "no longer available" and pop back up days or even hours later all the time, so it might be nothing. It would be a pleasant (and possible) surprise if these models got resculpts though.

I'm personally using the LoTR Wargs as my Fenrisian Wolves. I think they look much better than the aging fantasy wolf sculpts, and they are (US) $16.50 for six models, where the sprues that make five wolves are $15.

I don't have a GW in 75 miles of me (or even an LGS that supports 40K tournaments), so I don't worry about the "No LoTR" issue.

They date, in fact - along with the power-armoured Njal - from the latter days of Rogue Trader, making them among the oldest sculpts - after a couple of Eldar Warlocks and the Knights of the White Wolf - presently in production.

How old is Mephiston, I always assumed he was the oldest still in use in 40k? I'm not suggesting they "fix" Mephiston in fact I like that sculpt so much I really hope they don't bring out a "better" version.
