Pretty sure the x2 was intentional. My understanding of the Trollforged material and process is that a lot of the cost is front loaded into the molds. The figures themselves are relatively cheap after that. He can probably off to put them up in the packs of 18 as opposed to 9 due to that change in costing. Plus - x2 isn't a common typo.

BTW - for those who may have NSFW issues...if you link to an NSFW directly in a thread and hide it behind a spoiler block - they have already been busted by the thought police. The image loads even though it is hidden. You will want to have a link that they need to click to follow in order to protect them from the thought police. If it is just their squishy morale values which you are being courteous too...well, they can scroll past - or just ignore it like I do when I see the fat guy wearing the speedo on the beach.

Of those - about half are female (the other half being monsters, accessories...and a few guys). A good half of the women would easily be considered cheese cake. Some rather blatantly (Eldessa and Virina for example). Within the world of miniatures, non-cheese cake females are a niche market (which if you do the math - a niche of a niche is little more than a cubbyhole).

That's actually an excellent point, and one that applies to my own purchases as well. While I don't quite buy things like the Maelstrom boob-warriors, more than half of my Reaper purchaes (including monsters and non-humans) would be female figures of various types, and by extension, a goodly chunk of those are cheesecake versions of warriors, druids, etc. While I don't have any objection to cheesecake or fully armoured/clothed female figures (I buy both) this is really the only way to get female adventurers for RPGs and boardgames - as opposed to males which pretty much have the full selection of 25+ years of WHFB models to choose from if I need a knight or cleric or ranger so on.

Though thanks to some other kickstarters I am slightly broke I still managed to order some Undead miniatures from RBG. The least one can do when not being able tu support the Kickstarter. And I hope it will be a very successful one. Want to se more from RBG .

I think this touches on something I brought up in that thread: the problem with Maelstrom's BaneBreast line of figures isn't that they are cheescake, it's that they're bad cheesecake.

I mean, Yrsa and the Melusines are in comparable states of undress, but there is no comparison in terms of quality beyond that. I mean, take a look at the metal version of Yrsa (NSFW!); the hair is hair, not play-doh, and the anatomy (and by this I don't just mean human scale breasts, but the muscles in her back, stomach.. well, everywhere)... it's years away from what VanShaik brought to the Melusines.

Dangit... I hadn't really been interested in that model, but now that I really look at it I'm remembering just what kind of chops Tre has for sculpting anatomy... this is going to be a very expensive summer...

Yah - Tre is one of the better sculptors who is active right now IMO. Right now I am having a bit of a toss up though. If I purchase some figures which I don't need (the evil barbarians) through the Kickstarter campaign...I get the figures (which I don't need) and I give a little to the cause (of which Amazon/Kickstarter take 5-10% and Tre gets the rest to cover costs of the campaign and the new tooling).

If I order through the website - I can get more figures which I am interested in...but it doesn't help move along the campaign (which by moving along the campaign...it generates interest...which will lead to more molds...which is good for Tre).

I haven't fully looked at the back end of the Kickstarter site to see if it is feasible (I believe it is...but I am not completely certain) but it would be nice if he could manage to tie the existing catalog of figures to the campaign itself. Sort of how Mantic did their Add on figures. This would allow me to make purchases which I am interested in (a few hundred dollars worth) and help move the campaign forward (which will be good in the long run).

If you are reading Tre - it might be something to crunch the numbers on. Because of the costs related to it (both on the cost of metal and the costs of the Kickstarter/Amazon fees) I don't think it would be discounted prices...but if it moves the ball down the road, that is a good thing.

While I think the other elements are good ideas, I would be massively cautious about trying to make rules. Just look at the difficulty that Mantic is having with their rules betas (in the sense that the market is filled with truly different views on what people want); beyond that, there simply seems like a glut of rules systems out there right now. How would this even work with the existing range? Some ranges have dozens of figures, others have less then 10. Making a worthwhile set of rules would seem to be a pretty massive undertaking, and I just don't see the payout.

I agree with Buzz on this, I don't think there's anyone screaming for another set of fantasy skirmish or mass battle rules right now. I don't know how feasable it would be to partner up with another company, but making a "campaign" supplement for another ruleset to use the RBG figures might be a better way to go. In either case, it's not exactly vital for the near future. Maybe that new ruleset that Rick Priestly and others just worked on with a RoC-warband campaign theme...?

Im loving those Hordesmen, im definitely going to need a big solid block of them.

Im waiting for Tre to add some new pledge levels so i can increase my pledge, If he had a deal that was 3x the Fjarde level with a small discount i would be all over it.

Concerning female warriors, Tre made a post over on the Red Box Games forums listing some of the critical stuff he wants produced. Some of them were the current stretch goals, but he also listed a few other miniatures that would be used as stretch goals if the campaign was popular enough.

One of the units he listed was called the HelsMaidens, which im assuming by the name are gonna be kick-ass warrior women that put Maelstrom's Boobarians to shame.

Tre mentioned evil shield maidens, cavalry, and archers for the Helsvakt here early this year, and he posted early greens of the horses, whiched looked amazing. Hopefully those are all still coming down the pipe regardless of how far the KS goes.

$15K has been reached. Now we can get past the Aenglish distraction and back to the barbarian horde.

Wooooo!
Hopefully the clarifications and new stretches will see some solid gains over the weekend. Tre producing some new pledge levels with benefits would be a big plus as well.

Weekends tend to be good - as are things like the 1st and 15th (common paydays). In any case, there was almost another $1000 added last night, so things are moving forward at a descent pace.

Looking at the revised lists, I'll probably go in for $110. But I'll wait until there's at least two and probably 3 units to choose from. The barbarians are nice, but I don't need a horde of them. If those Wraiths make it across, I'll be on it like white on rice.

A new Update from Tre

Hey Guys,

Well despite my bets intentions I had to rethink the number of undead per rank. The price per model was just too low to double it at every interval It would have gutted the profits from other models so I have had to change it from 18 per rank to 9 per rank BUT! Every pledge of $110 or more will receive 2 ranks free when we reach $45,000. AND I am going to add the Keeper to the Characters options at the $45,000 stretch as well. I am very sorry for the slip up but I figured it was better to catch it now than to have it be the straw that broke the camel's back so-to-speak.

Also I am still working on the upper pledge levels. Hopefully should have something soon for that.

Cheers,

Tre'

here's the Keeper figure he's talking about

NOTE: at the 45K stretch you only get 9 undead for a rank (I was right when I thought that 2x 9 looked too good to be true), BUT if you're in for $110 you'll get 18 undead free. A fair trade off in my opinion (you can take more evil barbarians )

I totally agree that 2 free ranks of zombies at the $110 pledge is a much better deal than 1 rank counting as 18 instead of 9! But I think it will also mean that less money will be contributed to the KS overall (I'd totally go with an extra 110+ just because 108 zombies for $110 was such a good deal, but not like I need 108 zombies - 18 free, on the other hand, totally fine with me! )

I can't stay away. The miniatures are too good.

In for $110. Likely the chaosy type guys and some aengland dudes to go with my Cadwallon dudes.

A new update from Tre

First off he's posted a picture of Belegast in the new Trollforged Plastic, showing exactly what folk are buying (and we're geting a weapon choice sprue for him too which is good) It llooks great (Tre feels it reproduces detail better than metal)

Second he's added a couple of higher pledge levels for folk that want more figures

Femte..($145)....... 9 ranks and 9 characters. Supporters at this level will receive their choice of any nine (9) characters chosen from the funded characters section and any 9 ranks from the funded ranks list. Additional characters may be chosen by adding $8 each to your pledge. Additional ranks may be chosen by adding $18.00 each to your pledge............................................please add $15.00 for international shipping and $10.00 domestic ( US ) shipping.

Sjatte....($185).......12 ranks and 10 characters. Supporters at this level will receive their choice of any twelve ( 12 ) ranks chosen from the funded ranks list and ten ( 10 ) characters chosen from the funded characters list. additional characters may be chosen by adding $8.00 to your pledge. Additional ranks may be chosen by adding $18.00 to your pledge..............................................please add $15.00 for international shipping and $10.00 for domestic shipping.

I've asked for clarification whether any other pledge levels can buy extra ranks or not
(yellow text is me correcting an error in the update)

so if anybody wants a huge evil horde (or lots of Aenglish) jump in

Getting really close to the next stretch goal too. That should help with more options in building the horde.

I am looking forward to the next stretch goal as I would prefer to use them for Warriors of Chaos than the armoured guys. I have a heap of Rackham miniatures I want to use with them, and I think putting woad on these guys and the Rackham ones as "armour" is a pretty cool way to go.

Got to say I was hoping for some sexier pledge levels, which, to be fair, Tre has said are coming.

Excited that we're going to hit the 20k mark. If Helsvakt cavalry isn't going to play a part in this then the Hordesmen are what I really wanted.

The horde is in. Now at Stretch Goal #4 $25,000 Yrsa and Fenris. First of the girls.

Are the cav definitely off the table? I had seen them mentioned - but I haven't been digging through the Red Box forums to see what was mentioned there. With the $20K mark being hit today and 15 days left in the campaign - I am going to guess that the stretch goals which have been mentioned will be met (more stuff to choose from will generally get more people involved). Perhaps they are a possibility for a $50K or $55K goal (following the undead).

Nothing definite, I'm just making assumptions because we saw greens of them in April but no mention has been made of them directly by Tre throughout this process. Maybe he scrapped the work he'd started on them or maybe they aren't suitable for casting in the new material?
If Tre is sitting on them he should definitely pull them out now as an additional carrot as a 50K+ stretch.

I am workign on havign at least one of them finished to use as the stretch goal "advertising. " the plan is that they will be modular like the Hordesmen, mayeb not the quite the same extent but the riders will interchange between the horses. and the riders will be fitted for universally interchangeable heads, weapons, and shields.. There are going to be 3 different horses and 3 different riders, there will be 3 different shields, 6 different weapons and 6 different head / helm options.

These will be the stretch after the undead. If these fund then there will be a mounted champion. If that funds then there will be musician and standard bearer kits . i am still tryign to figure out how to sell these. As the kits need one anotehr to be complete, but sellign all 3 for $18 as a single rank might be too cheap to cover costs properly ( I will have to also invest in different packaging and such to insure safe shipping. ) We will see but they are DEFINITELY still in!

I think with 15days to go we can make it there. I am goign to post WIPS to help make that happen.

Awesome news!

Especially on the WIPs, anything you can do to generate excitment would be great.

Any news on some alternate pledge levels? I still think some limited levels where you throw in some of your existing metal models would work...but obviously I have no idea if you're sitting on stock or not.

There's a new image up on the front page of the kickstarter that makes it easier to decide on a pledge level. Would still like an option that isn't merely more of the same, I know there is an exclusive being announced soon which might help. Also, only 3k to go till the next stretch goal is reached!

According to Tre's comment on the KS page the concept art for the exclusive model should be uploaded tomorrow morning.

Im a little disappointed that this Kickstarter hasn't really exploded yet, i know Tre has made a few mistakes but considering that he is only one man and has no prior experience with Kickstarter i think that a few errors are understandable.

Im hoping over the final week we will see a significant increase in pledgers, enough to at least surpass the current stretch goals and maybe even get high enough that Tre adds the Helsmaidens as a goal. (Fingers crossed!)
