Target:
January: 5 liberators.
First two done.
This is the first time in 23 years I have set about painting something from Fantasy.... so I guess Age of Sigmar has done something right....

Hi all,
Just thrown my hat into the ring on this one as I have a ton of epic 40k that I need to be painting.
Finished these the other day and I'll get updates done as often as possible
And this is about half of what I have that needs painting for my epic 40k:

That's part of it.
Have squats, Orks, necrons and Tyranid to be working on.
So plenty of work to be doing.

The Karist Troopers are finished.
I've also been able to get the Epirian Contractors base coated.
Still not sure about the visor colour but I expect that'll change once I start on the washes.

@John - Nice work on those Sigmarines. Their bases are nicely detailed as well. Will you be adding some static flock or tufts, or going for the fully-barren wasteland?
@Jackal - Very cool Epic squat army there. You've got a hell of a lot to paint! All those little men on stands is what stopped me getting properly into Epic back in the day.
@Nick - The snow and winter grass(?) finishes the Karists off nicely. Looking forward to seeing the Epirians come along.
I've also convinced Marouda to participate as well, with the caveat that I'll be "helping" (aka doing most of the actual work) - but anything that helps get her painting more is a win in my opinion, so we're calling the Mythological Greeks for KoW her painting goal. Since she did some of the work on the Spartans that just got finished yesterday, I'll now call these part of the challenge, and done for January. More here.

The grass is army painter tundra tufts. So yeah winter grass would be a good description.
Great Spartans, they look pretty spot on to me.

Well, it's halfway through the month and most of my models haven't been dispatched yet (never using Wayland Games again), so I'm going to be doing my stealth suits instead. I haven't been able to prime them yet as I still need to run it by my landlord, but I did manage to do the teleport homer.

Nice start! I like the white effect, very effective shading!
My 10 Orks are nearing completion - I have alo been spending some time with Fairy Power Spray and a toothbrush trying to get the great thick dollops of paint off the metal Dreadnought that I am lining up to be February's effort
Nearly there, just need to pick the bits out of some of the recesses now.

My latest Ebay purchase was posted today so I'll probably get it next week. I would like to do some painting this weekend but I have nothing for active projects, I may try and finish my Capitol Heavy Infantry for Warzone.

Barzam alerted me to this.
I'd like to gently set my hat inside the ring. None of this tossing hogwash!
My goal is to complete a lot of unfinished reptile stuff to begin with. We'll see how long this lot takes before I begin phase two.
3 carnosaurs
3 pteranodons
1 stegadon
2 cold one riders
2 kroxigor proxy stegosaurus dudes
10 saurus warriors
1 stygian guardian from Chronopia
1 reptus shaman from Reaper's Warlord line
3 reptus warriors form Reaper as well
Is that an acceptable start? Pics on Monday since it's a holiday.

I'm guessing it's a "Lizardmans until I run out of them, followed by another set of models". Like Archer starting with Tyranids and then going on to a second army. Also, welcome, highlord.
Also also. I got my Undead unit finished today - a trio of Skeletal Ogres from Ral Partha Europe, for Kings of War Undead using the Zombie Troll rules. They've just been spray varnished, so hopefully it'll be dry in the morning so I can add the tufts. Pics tomorrow!

So below is my planned list for this challenge (well hopefully the first half......) I plan to have the colour scheme finalized for January plus as many Gaunts as I can (I have 86 so I hopefully never run out of spawning fodder). If I can do that I will consider it a successful January.
Hive Fleet Acidica
HQ
Mother of Contamination - Tervigon with Toxin Sacs, Shreddershard Beetles and The Norn Crown
Mother of Poison - Tervigon with Toxin Sacs and The Miasma Cannon
Elites
Harbingers of Venom - 3 Venomthropes
Bringers of Poison - 3 Venomthropes
Troops
Heralds of Contamination - 4 Tyranid Warriors, 1 Venom Cannon, 3 with Deathspitters
Bringers of Rot - 3 Tyranid Warriors, 2 with Devourers, 1 with Barbed Strangler
Poison’s Envoy - 3 Tyranid Warriors, 1 with Venom Cannon, 2 with Death Spitters
Leaders of Corruption - 3 Tyranid Warriors, 2 with Spinefists, 1 Barbed Strangler
Lords of Decay - 3 Tyranid Warriors, 1 with Venom Cannon, 2 with Deathspitters
Poison’s Consorts - 3 Tyranid Warriors, 1 with Lash Whip and Bonesword, 2 with Rending Claws
Heavy Support
Father of Contamination - Tyrannofex with Toxin Sacs and Acid Spray
Father of Poison - Tyrannofex with Toxin Sacs and Rupture Cannon
Contamination of Worlds - Toxicrene
So you may have noticed the running theme of Toxins and Acid. The idea behind the army is that the Hive Fleet only seems to attack the most polluted and toxic of worlds and this has started to show disturbing effects on the creatures as a whole. Only the largest beasts seem able to withstand the pollutants on some of these worlds for any length of time and therefore the only Gaunts seen are those birthed from the Tervigons and they usually expire from the harsh environments quickly anyway. Hopefully the theme comes through in the list.

The Tyranid model range is about the only thing that I can see myself picking up out of 40K these days- it's top notch and nearly all plastic.
I've gotten back down to business today - got the last two "stone" items (a sarcophagus and a throne) done in my attempt at a marble scheme. Just drying right now, so photos a bit later, but it looks okay from tabletop. Not going to bear close scrutiny by any geologists though.
