Agreed with all the rest. What a fantastic conversion, and seamless to boot! I thought the DE sword was perfect on her, but looking at her new combi-sword, that looks pretty freakin' good! I stand corrected, good sir! Definitely feeling the John Blanche on this one.

@Prime12357 - Sorry Pete, a bit off topic. Prime, you always have the coolest gifs for your avatar-pic... what game/where are they from??

Back to the action- When can we expect some paint on this beauty? And any schemes in mind?

Jeez pdh, what a stunning figure. Yet again you manage to distil the very essence of 40k into a figure.

where am I? *looks around* Well i'm...errr...I...I...don't know!

Wow, looks gorgeous. The only thing I would have done differently (not that I could, however) would have been to lengthen the sword handle even more, I think if a weapon has a flamer bit on it would be beefier than normal, so would have a longer grip. Otherwise she looks fething amazing! Great work.

Decided not to put anything on her left leg.

Bruticus - She is going down the same route as the other. Black Armour, Midnight blue, Fire Dragon Crimson and white for the layers of her dress.

DexterKong - turned out better than I envisioned too. A few people have suggested a red head for her so she will be pale. I know its meant to be mech construct but I'll need the skin tones to be different.

Baiyuan - I wasn't sold on the first steps either..thats why she has taken so long. Went with the ork vent because I was taking too long choosing and it was on my desk. The fuel tank was always going somewhere for the swords fuel source (originally it was going on the other side but the cherub worked better). Glad you approve of the sword.

endtransmission - Damn wish I'd seen that before I started. Cool weapon! Originally I was going to use the empire wizard's flaming sword but it was too chunky for my liking (and painting flames good is difficult).

neil101 - Obviously mate...that model is crazy.

Imperial Monkey - Well the little skull on the side of the flamer is a suspensor that is why the handle is so short because it doesn't weigh anything I agree actually but its done now so the suspensor it is.

Rogue Wolves, weetyskemian44Wow, LDD, Ghostflame, prime12357, HF Izanagi, Vitruvian XVII. Thanks for your kind words.

Since you've all been so nice enjoy something I did quickly this afternoon by accident....

This one came as a surprise to me since I was meant to be painting today . As I put the cherub's old base away and the plague priest was lying there. Well they fitted together when I picked him up. Thought about doing this conversion since I built Ecclesiarchy Priest Sonerhud. This chap is another one of his minions:

Ecclesiarchy Servitor CDLXXXIII-CA (483-CA) wip

The pic isn't perfect, which makes it look like the flamer nozzle is at a jaunty angle on the left. The flamer arm actually looks a little uncomfortable but it is meant to be mechanical so I'm not fussed.

Crikey, these are some conversions.

PDH, I started lurking on Dakka because of your scavvies, now I've just discovered this 'Odds and Ends' log and I have another 30 pages to catch up on!

Totally inspiring stuff,

Plip - Thanks. Well Dakka is a good place. There might be 30 pages for you to catch up on here but only a handful of models. I'll be getting back to the Scavvies next month though

Baiyuan - Exactly. I cannot remember the last time I spent just an afternoon converting/building a model. I'm sure it should tale longer.

Wow! That one snuck right up on us didn't it? Great use of the model, the simplicity is inspired. I can picture him as some lobotomized drone that shuffles around silently dousing everything with burning promethium. When you get around to painting him, I'd love to see lots of caked-on ash and soot!

Dex - Out of the blue. I feel that I should probably make his buddy Ecclesiarchy Choir Servitor CMLXXI-TS (971-TS) sooner rather than later now. That sir is a good idea! I'll be going for white robes just like on the priest so adding soot should be fun!

I was thinking something similar to Dexter about the robes, but was wondering if the cuff around the flamer should be more ragged as it's likely to catch fire every now and then (unless it's flame proof material of course)

Dammit PDH, I'm off dakka for a few days to study and here you are with two picture updates. Sorry!

Your Inquisitor first (does she have a name yet?) - she's stunning! Like Baiyuan mentioned, I wasn't originally particularly sold - I couldn't really see how the parts were going to mesh up - but she has come out incredibly, so kudos for sticking to your image. The cherub suits her perfectly, the armour is flawless and the seals flow, but it's the little details that really get me - had to really zoom in on the image, but it's things like the repairs on her hairline, the tiny details on the hilt of her sword and that teensy tiny skull you sculpted on her dress (it's so tiny! how did you even-) that really show her up for what she is. For the cabling to her sword - did you use some of Zinge's cabling? Or is that guitar string? I'd love to get somehting that gives that look and is easier to work with...

The new servitor looks great too - there's something almost flamboyant about the angle of the flamer emerging from his sleeve. Nice detail with the aquilla necklace, can't wait to see you get some paint on him.

Nice work all round Pete! Are you heading to Mol Inqvitational with the others?

Callydia Benadice is gorgeous.
I'm big fan of your style - the attention to the details and character, your remarkable precision and dedication - it's impressive and very inspiring.
Yet, I have few thoughts, though these are pretty subjective...
First, I'm not sold on this overwhelming amount of purity seals on the dress, when it's still in style, I would go with some kind of lace for more baroque and feminine feel.
Second, I'm sure she doesn't need anything for the top of her left leg - the miniature looks great already and have a lot of interesting details, so I wouldn't overcomplicate it.
Well, just my few cents. It's an outstanding work nonetheless.

I am but a nervous man, by circumstance and by my own deeds

endtransmission - Hmmmm now that you mention it I rather like the idea of the robe being a little more raggedy round the flamer area.

inmygravenimage - Cheers man

Scarper - Yeah but what is the probability of getting two updates from me in a week!

The Inquisitor is called Callydia Benedice. Ah the zoom in function..shows everything more clearly (and sometimes too clearly) The teeny skull on her knee was a pain to sculpt but I had no choice since I broke off the original one when I was cutting her in half. How did I do it...with difficulty and a pin. Tiny tiny tiny ball of GS, Clay shaper to flatten it on. Left it to cure for a bit. Used a pin to poke in the eyes and nose, then push in the jaw. When dry I went back with a little more GS and shaped the sides and top of the skull a bit more.

The servitor's necklace was to hide the nurlge symbol originally hanging there.

jackanory - I love working with Resin, really nice material and the detail is lovely. I like Finecast as well, which carves like butter. Metal now is soooooooo difficult....though it is very nice to paint and hold.

ishkatar - Thanks. Her outfit is part of her "show" She is a monodominant Inquisitor, a religious psychopath in all honesty the purity seals are something that her character would where to show her piety. The top of her leg is being left.

izeColt - Yo, Hey dude didn't know you hung out in these parts. Cheers dude.

Callydia : can't wait to see her painted. Such a Blanche-esque miniature you've created! You could do the cherub blue as a reference to the 'caryatids' from the original Confrontation rules. But it might just look a bit too weird...

+ To: Inquisitrix Calline
+ Priority: Alpha
+ Subject: Death of Lord Mandred

Greetings sister,

You have requested my vote at the succession of Lord Mandred, may the Emperor grant him peace. You have rallied to my aid on more than one occasion, I consider you a friend within the Conclave and I know you hold the firm and right beliefs in the philosophies of Inquisitor Goldo. But in this instance it may not be enough for me to raise my hand in your favour.

The decision we make in electing a new master will have ramifications on the entire sector. The doom Lord Dray had visited upon him is coming, I have seen the portents and heard the gibbering voices, not of their own, as heretics have burnt on my stakes. This Cable is not just an instrument to rid the sector of all the enemies of mankind. The Helios Cable will be the saviour of our Sector, be it a bastion or a precision tool. I find myself, surprisingly, against using its resources to bring fire and death to the all the enemies of our Lord Emperor. The Dark Harbringer awaits its judgement on the flaming spear of righteousness and light this Cable brings to Dalthus.

Calline you cannot count on my vote. But you will have it to prevents the narrow minded Streng or that heretic Zuul from gaining control.

Sincerely

Inquisitor Callydia Benadice

RW - Well it is a little pic. The body is the other FW plague priest ....see my response to whalemusic360 above for a picture.

Plip - Cheers. The whole project has been heavily inspired by JB. We (as in the royal) like you showing your age with confrontation references! Neil sent me the rules a while back. I doubt I'll go blue since I that may indicate mutation in her mind etc. She is definitely going to be a redhead now btw

For the choir servitor the Rackham Dirz Command group musician may be a good first port of call.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Llamahead - I've actually already got the model for the choir servitor..... I've seen some great conversions of this recently and so I'll have my work cut out making it original...which will be at least half the fun. Don't expect it too soon though.

Actually, I bought that Dirz musician at one point in order to convert it into an Inquisitor warband member. The sulpt is really nice, but he is extremely tall compared to standard 40k models. And those drums should be quite a hassle to get rid of. In the end, I passed him off to my cousin to be converted into a Dark Eldar Haemonculus...

Peter, that Cairn Wraith is a fantastic base for an Inquisitor model! Very thrilled to see what you'll be doing with it. The bar's quite high on this one though, even John Blanche took a shot at converting it
