I believe it's been stated that you'll be able to get them from events only (after this), though you could get them through kickstarter if you donate $31, I believe ($1 + $30 addition)?

The Opto and Glow are one-time-only production, i.e. You will get them via Kickstarter and during events, but once the run is gone they are OOP.

I'd like to see the Opticamo and Glow extended to all of the other figures as well. Though they've shown a number of the human character models, the written listing doesn't show them, and no sign of the infected. The Lights Out pack is something I'm umming and ahhing on, but I reckon including the rest of the figures in them would do it for sure - notsomuch in terms of wanting more stuff for my money, but in terms of a fully cohesive (cloaked or radioactive) force.

Yes as they said right afterwards " We have big plans for the character though, expect to see more of him later! "
Maybe we'll get to see his face?

You rang for more characters?

Sergeant Ramirez is as tough as they come, and an ace with the Reaver support weapon! Laying down accurate and thunderous suppressing fire is a specialty. Just don't talk back to the sarge! Enlist her for $10. Ships March 2013.

If we hit this goal, it looks like Ramirez didn't quite detonate that grenade in time. Get a free Strain version of Ramirez with every Ramirez! Ships together with the Sarge in March 2013.

Looks like they added in Vasquez, over all the other characters people have been asking for. Did we REALLY need a normal marine girl again.... seriously...

Not, they already did Ripley... we already have a crapload of female vanguard. They could have done a concept art/sketch/design for one of the other dozens of fitting characters we have been asking for. Look at it this way...

If they keep adding in Aliens personalities from those movies (1 was enough) it just further ruins any serious nature that the story and project has. Ripley was cool, I could see why they did it, since they draw some inspiration from Aliens but once you start putting in the entire cast of Aliens.. well, you're just a repackaged Aliens game with some different enemies.

I've pledged two boxes, both characters, lights out but this is something I may actually skip on. :( Another 2013 figure to.......

Come on Mike, stop with these lackluster additions and give us the crap we really want, like LE Kara with Heavy weapons in sedition wars format. For the love of god man, you have a creativity studio and team; stop acting like this is zombiecide and essentially just ripping off characters from other settings. It's nostalgic once or twice, then it starts to show a lack of creativity and ingenuity.

I thought Sedition Wars was a fairly polished and original Universe the first time Mike McVey introduced it to me through his miniatures range, the further this kickstarter goes, the more I go W T F.

Seriously, is this Zombiecide or is this an original sci-fi creation that can stand on its own legs without characters from established IPs drawing people in?

Edit:
I'll rephrase that: I would like Ramirez and (Opticamo?) Kara, Akosha and a squad of female Samaritans, but can't buy these without buying the whole game. Assuming CMoN doesn't add a bunch of Vanguard stuff to the box in the next ten days to make me change my mind, would any Australians be interested in helping out?

This is what I posted in the comments:

"This is the first additional character I'm meh about. And I'm also meh that's it's a 30k stretch goal. Ripley as a 20k stretch goal went fast because she also had the terrain pack. I can't be sure but I think the 30k Nevin Banks might have been one of the slower goals made. And now we have a second character from Aliens that while a relatively cool character isn't even on top (or on it at all) of most people's list. I'm just a little underwhelmed...."

Me personally I would have preferred a Predator, Pitch Black, or Stargate nod over another Aliens nod....

The stretches are becoming a little bit more sparse as time goes on it's true... but, is this not what usually happens though? Such as with Zombiecide? Not implying, baiting or trying to start any kind of argument, just a genuine question btw lol!

@majortom11

Yeah, things generally get more sparse or at least they seem that way because of the huge surge at the end so there aren't that many extra goals set during the last big push. My issue is that it's another 30k stretch goal for a single miniature that they did for 20k earlier in the kickstart.

For me, at this point, I'd put up all my stretch goals up to probably 550k (or so) along with any additional purchase items. The 550k goal should be a free biohazard level item with the promise of a crazy awesome one at like 700k which they could release either when 550 is reached or with 3 days to go.

Granted, what do I know though. I'm in insurance, not advertising

@ all the above

Agree with all the points you guys have made.

I love Studio McVey and SW but this was just disappointing to me as I said. I didn't even realize they made it a higher stretch goal than a more popular character which included a $30 extra to bump it up.

The Engineer dude has been the slowest portion of the Kickstarter, sure most of you noticed the lack of posts to this topic since it was introduced.

@Navarro

That's why I think they should just put out a fair number of characters that they think they can produce as nods and incorporate them into the game even as one-offs (i.e. non-cannon characters). It can encourage others into the game. I'd also start selling them as extra's but at $15-20 a pop with a purchase limit of 1 without the boxset.

Which will be awesome. I'm telling you, a Master Chief or space version of Ash (since who doesn't love a dude with a "power-saw" for a hand) would be amazing. And they would also probably cause some of the people to have a stroke

I like the extra characters, don't mind that they're based on movies .. it's not like tyranids or necrons are original either...

But at this point for me, cash is just too tight .. even though it's just $10 here and $10 there, it adds up quick. Already not sure I can afford this and 40K6th too.. and 40K is higher on my want list just cuz that's what the gang all plays

I am also quite interested in the characters. I will probably be looking to keep the strain models and Vanguard Characters, the regular Vanguard are not bad but for a painter, they are a lot of tedious work while the strain is a ton of work, but offers a lot of variety and techniques to use. Hell... it will probably just end up on a shelf with everything else, but I can't resist the character dual packs... 10 bucks for 2 Studio Mcvey resin minis will always be stretch goal I can't resist, especially when those stretch goals are strain!

I would, however, love to see more expressly strain designed characters...

Seriously, I'm on the fence--on one hand, it's a pretty gorgeous looking game. On the other, I have trouble fitting one game a week into my time now--it would likely collect dust.

It's always interesting to read other people's comments and realize there are folks out there with precisely the polar opposite of my own opinoin. I could not disagree more with your points: This sculpt looks amazing to me, and I'm incredibly interested in having it. I might just get more then one, honestly.

Also, it's important to realize one reason they are free to include "one-off" characters like this is precisely because people don't feel they need them. If there were persistent versions of reappearing characters, people might get offended when they discover, months down the line, that they missed out on such a thing.

Missing a spoof character based on Aliens? Doubtful they will care.

Missing a "better" (because there will always be someone that thinks the limited edition is better) main character? That's annoying.

You've seen the SCULPT of this miniature already? How? From what I can know, the concept art was recently done for Kickstarter and there will not be a sculpt for quite some time; which is why it is coming in 2013.

Tom, you are actually right... I did not think that they could be resin. IF they are resin, then that does make the value worth it even if the choice of figure is meh. I've purchased quite a bit from SM and frankly, under 10 figures come um to more than the cost of SW right now basically. So $10 for 2 resin figures would be amazing. If they are plastic, this might be the first I pass on. :(

I may be totally off about them being resin, it was just an assumption on my part, just fyi! I figured for one off characters though, especially as they are being sold single (at least here), that it must be resin (I don't think SM has done metals?).

It's supposed to be that restic stuff. Like the material Privateer press uses for it's plastics. At least that's what was noted. This allows them to not have to do the massively expensive full plastic molds that cost so much.
