To be honest though, I would've loved to see a young Kara (the one done as a limited resin release a year ago, with the big lead belcher), though Vasquez is also a good pick.

Studio McVey rocks. I used a bunch of their minis for conversions for my IG, Sisters and GK armies.
The basic Vanguard look great for basis for IG drop troops.

Not Doom Guy and Not Master Chief would be nice.

@AoE
There was no sarcasm lol, Show Vasquez the respect she deserves!!! I will take no besmirching of Aliens in my presence lol.

They do metals. I own the entire Vanguard range and some Firebrand in metal.

I'm with Navarro the characters are cool. Plus you get an infected version. Love it.

That's why I think they should just put out a fair number of characters that they think they can produce as nods and incorporate them into the game even as one-offs (i.e. non-cannon characters). It can encourage others into the game. I'd also start selling them as extra's but at $15-20 a pop with a purchase limit of 1 without the boxset.

Well supposedly they will come with rules so they will be part of the game which is good.

@Brettz123

I meant that they aren't going to extend beyond this game or exist in the universe outside of it (i.e. non-cannon). I think with the exception of the Nevin Banks this is the case. And that "homage" model is just the normal character they have dressed in the special suit so he'll never look that way again.

So why not put up a few of them and drum up more cash. And allow the singles to be purchased at double cost if they don't pledge biohazard or higher.

Yes, clearly I am privy to this information. How did I find it? That's a tale for another time my boy....

Quick! Let's all complain about a model we don't have to buy and that doesn't affect the pledges we've already made!

Personally I would have preferred Drake, but you can't win 'em all. But yeah, I'd like some more obscure references. The Dead Space reference was good, because it's not covering ground that's as well tread as Aliens. As was said on the last page things like Pitch Black and Stargate would be good for reference points.

Oooh man, Pitch Black... So many possibilities there.

And yeah, it's almost as if some folks are complaining for the sake of complaining, isn't it?

What Stargate figure though?

I'm wracking my brain for something that might work... a Strain-like Kull Warrior? A Firebrand who left the rebellion and joined the Vanguard (ie. Teal'c). I dunno...

That is a good point, not really a good way to choose one over any of the other characters.

Clearly the best choice would be the chevron guy

Well let's see....It's a nano virus so pretty much anyone but Teal'c for this starter (he could be a firebrand expansion promo). Daniel Jackson would be a bit of a stretch for this game in particular since his skill set doesn't really work in the setting (though he'd also probably fit in better w/Firebrand).

But Carter or Oneal would work just fine. Carter because she's also a super genius and was always dealing with technology/disease threats on the show and could easily slot in as a Vanguard Science officer/communications & computer security from Kara's ships/units. And Oneal's pretty obviously an easy hero for this kind of thing, maybe the surviving senior officer for station security?

Yeah but it's another female character in a game that seems to have more of them then it does male characters (did something change in human genetics in the future? Are men more rare?).

Personally I would really like to see an alternative sculpt for the Scythe Witch; a lot of possibilities in that one...

If you wanted to link it to Stargate you could have Strain with, perhaps, the Horus Ra heads.

HBMC, you make an excellent point about the (relative) paucity of named male figures, although I might counter only that well sculpted female minis (which I would say the ones we're getting here are) seem to generate a more... intense response then correspondingly well sculpted males, especially males in power armor. Perhaps if only because in the overall hobby, there simply isn't the unfilled demand.

Just my thoughts though: for all I know, McVey is getting a lot of emails on this, or has his own fan ideas, or owes people money...

I like the not-Vasquez because it's a cool model and she has a big gun (don't go all Freudian on me now!!!). I would have like it just as much if it had been not-Drake.

In fairness though, you are a man of exceptionally refined tastes.

That aside, I'm counting the characters, and I think I'm loosing track;

Everyone gets;
Kara
Morgan
Akosha
Barker Zosa
Grendlr
Cthonian

If you are Biohazard, you also get;
Kara LE,
Grendlr, (double)
Cthonian (double)

And any backer can buy;
Dr Susan Ridley ($10)
Niven Banks ($10)
Sergeant Ramirez ($10)

I was checking the updates, and I'm not sure if I missed it, but what are the additional price characters cast in? Resin?

Don't forget the clear/glow characters from those packs. The LE Kara is Resin, I believe the others are plastic. Not 100% on the $10 extras.

Riddick would be great but I can't complain about not aliens minis, by the contrary.

It's really too dorky to hope for Necromongers, isn't it?

Maybe not Riddick... but Abed's version of Riddick from Community. Now that's an oblique reference!

I'm kinda underwhelmed about not-Vasques. From a purely model standpoint, it's cool to see a female Reaver-carrying trooper when the ones in the game are all the same male version, but without some special rules it's another model of which the game is shipping with several of, especially with the 12 additional troopers.

I personaly would buy the first two additional figures much sooner than this latest one.

As I want fun gameplay over fan-service would really love to see the rules they are applying to these new additional models, because that could better enable me to decide.

I'd prefer McKay or Sheppard, personally. Ronan would be a good fit, too.

Or go all out and give us Thor and some replicators.
