gosh... you had me freaked out for a second... i actually thought you painted the board all blue... then it hit me... it is just masked...*phewwww....*

good looking ground there... lots of different spots... looks very lifelike... but not finished yet i bet...

as for the com guy... good looking too... but it seems your green drybrushing action slightly hurt the skin color...better fix that! you will otherwise hate yourself for that...well a bit at least

and the last pic you showed of the fighting deck...THAT is cover art mister... it really is... the red and green mix... that just screams bloddy catachan!!!truly inspiring... if i ever come to work on my own catachans... it will be because of these... you can bet!!!

Board is coming along nicely. The darker spots to be mud with perhaps a few puddles strewn about? Crew also looks good now.

I'm liking the board.
Are you going to do some water effects to make it look all swamp-like? I think that would be quite cool!

The base isn't judged, it's just to fit the model into the environment, but I will probably do something more with it, I will definitely apply the same weathering powders to both the base and the tank yet.

@Vik- I didn't drybrush anything..what are you talking about specifically?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I'm not sure about puddles and/or wet mud, I really want it to look dry, hence the reason why I already modeled the dry mud on the tank. You guys often offer up suggestions that would look cool, but I don't know if it would make sense in this particular scene..maybe..I dunno- we shall see.

I was pretty sure that the board wasn't judged but was jsut wondering where it was going.
I think that the dry board makes alot of sence now that you put it that way..

Yep, I will add a few scatter items and perhaps some more PEB vegetation, but not too much to distract you from the tank.

I wish I could not be at work and go home and finish this beast up. This is the longest, and best paintjob I have ever done. Of course I see things I could have improved upon all the time.

I still need to:
1. mask the inside of the tracks and drybrush metallics where the road wheels meet the treads
2. Paint Highlights on the hubs of the road wheels
3. Touch up the PEB leaves where the brass is showing through (from handling them with CA-encrusted fingers)
4. Add more to the base
5. Add final weathering powders/washes to both the base and tank and fix them

It's probably too late to add tread ruts since it's already flocked where they would be.

no water...why is that GI carrying an M-14?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I don't think you guys understand what I am doing here, there is no water..there WAS water, mixed with dirt..about a week ago, that is MUD, now it is all DRIED. There will be no water puddles because that would look stupid on the base when the tank is covered in DRY MUD.

This is what armor looks like covered in dry mud, notice no wetness, no water, no puddles whatsoever.

the dry mud i thought of too... the tracks define the terrain underneath... usually it is the other way... but since you started with the tank and then built the board to match...that´s the way to go... i only suggested the waterpuddles because i had a flash caused by the darker green spots on the base... somehow that suggested water for me... i see now that this was my fault...

well track marking on the ground would have been nice... but first i wouldn´t know how to do that... and second... now is the wrong time... that would have to be done way earlier...

tho the addition of a bit of bark to work as a nice fallen tree trunk rotting towards eternity would be a nice thing^^

and... didn´t the GI first use the M-14 in the "asien" wars? or am i that much mistaken? no real knowledge here... only from what i saw in movies/TV and in games...

My Dad did all of his Basic Training with an M-14 in 1966, He was rated "Expert" with an M-16 and a .45 Cal. Pistol, but only rated as "Sharpshooter" on the M-14. By the time he was in-country in 1967, everyone was issued with an M-16 though- He said the M-14 was a heavy motherfether, similar to the BAR in weight.

Yep Vik, Laos and Cambodia too.

Perhaps this will shed some light on what I am doing.
The Men get the same weathering as the tank...

Especially heavily on their boots, knees, legs and asses...

...so will the base. All that green texture paint is just base testure for the dried mud that this came from
