The funny thing was, I had to teach the percussion section in school band how to play wipeout, and I played Sax.

Anywho, very nicely done as usual

So that's how you do your rust, I was doing tinbitz, then chainmail with sand to knock off later showing splotches of tin bitz and sponge dab some vomit brown

Well, I don't know that my way is any better... but it's easy and I like the look of it. I suppose now I'll have to chip up and rust the rest of my kans to match. Ah well, that can wait.

Holy crap, fantastic tutorial Gits.

Got across exactly why you do it in those steps, and made it clear enough so someone totally new to weathering can try it out without being intimidated!

Awesome job as always.

Thank you kind sir and lady.

Just dawned on me that I never actually posted my chipping tutorial in the tutorial section of the forum. (Duh)

Finally got the basing done on the Kan which means it's good to go! Nothing like a little water effects to slow down the basing process. Hope you like it! (Large file, in focus and very zoomable.)

Thanks Ramos! I'm working on a tut for that but I haven't quite worked all the bugs out. Think I'm close though.

Changed the pic, like this one better.

Im totally going to try your paint chipping tutorial. Ive tried "chipping" a couple times and never liked the look, but this one is a bit different. Heres hoping, because Ive got a big chunk of my biker bosses bike painted, and it looks just TOO cleanly painted Im sure a Boss would of banged up his bike running over Space Marines and whatnots

I appreciate that you're making Articles/Tutorials on this stuff. By sharing the wealth of knowledge, tips, and tricks, all of Dakka is improved. Or, at least, the Painting section. The OT forums will never be improved.

Well, I always assume that someone out there who's better than I am has already made a tutorial for just about everything... but then when I look through the tutorials I realize there are a lot of holes to fill for a lot of basic techniques. So if I think I have a good system to do something, I'll post it.

I'm kind of excited about the water effects... if my system works it should be a pretty good tool for everyone.

Yeah, basic to medium techniques are lacking, and if we can fill in the holes, so much the better.

I need to get my "Canopy" tutorial up there, soon.

That would be a good one to add Brian.

Not too many comments on the kan, though I think most people made their comments while it was being painted. Going to be cranking out some work for my son's b-day, which for obvious reasons won't get published until after-the-fact. Should be fun though and really give his army a boost. At least one person in my family should have a competitive army!

Thanks gents! One more to go and I'll have 2 full squads, which will be nice. The next one will be a bit more "sane" & as such, should go more quickly. Going to bounce back and work on a couple of marines and Necrons.... then the orkyness shall continue!!

No problem guys! Making tutorials is very therapeutic. You should try it some time. Makes you sit and think analytically about exactly how and what you do... and more importantly, WHY you do it. Then you need to come up with language and examples to describe it. Has always been an excellent way for me to give my interests a boost... be it painting or martial arts... nothing like teaching to help things crystallize in your mind or to remind you of the basics that age and experience tends to have you take for granted.
