Wrote this long review and my network times out... WTF? Here's the short version.
Anyway love the model , maybe too much articulation features. At times I wondered whether I was making a model or an action figure. Some of the articulation seems like overkill but that may just be me.
I ordered the chainsaw arm today . I aslo think that this bad boy is screaming for LEDs . Hollow head. Hollow body. I just have to figure out where to make a magnetized hatch.
Lots of sanding, green stuff, and 40 k ifing to do but all in all great way to avoing forgeworld prices and have a pretty sweet Kinght in my army.
It felt really good to be back at the bench.
Stay tuned more to come!

While I'm waiting on parts for the crusader I figure I can have some fun weathering with salt and hairspray.
Anyone ever used that method?

Not 100% sure on the green color I used here but this is a test piece . Base coast of brown and rust affects applied.
I chose this green for contrast but gray might be a better choice. We will see once it dries .
Comments suggestions, am I posting just for me?
Lets hear it tells ... Color suggestions?

Messy but I love the effect. Sticking with the green color. Second use of Minitaire tonight and I love them . Easy clean up and already perfectly thinned , I love my airbrush again.
What do you think? Still have highlights to do but I am going to save them for the rest of the terrain.
Hazzard stripes galore, pipes , water effects, at least 10 hours worth of painting. But I am feeling motivated again!

I know March for IG... But that gives me time to catch up!
Try the salt weathering, it's awesome.
Thanks for the comment old buddy.
Anyone else have any feedback?

Nowadays, I barely play any 40k at all. But up until the last Codex, IG was always 'the joke' ad we had the weakest codex for a long, long while. Then, BLAMMO! Super Codex! And everyone yelled at me for 'jumping on the IG bandwagon', and I got tired of telling them that I was playing IG when their idea of a good time was eating sugary cereal in front of the TV.
Which, on occasion, is still my idea of a good time.

I completely understand... I don't play much but I love the models.
Aliens is one of my all time favorite movies and hopefully you will see Hicks , Hudson, and Apone as part of my new veteran squad... Gotta what for the new models though.

I already have Space Hulk, so I'm covered there. I really don't "need" any more IG but if these kits are as detailed as I am hearing then a Vet Aliens squad is something that will happen. Maybe some Armorcast flame burst would be nice too.

Really decent work on the salt / hairspray! I think Bruticus was the first to turn me on to that method, though maybe it was Dave. I'd have to look it up. regardless, it's been a part of most of my terrain modeling since then. It works really well and it's difficult to make a mistake so terrible that it cannot be fixed.

Thanks buddy! I'm far from finished but spongeing and salt / hairspray techniques are some of the easiest best results I've seen since someone showed me how to drybrush!
Only thing with the salt / hairspray technique is I imagine doing it without an airbrush is probably not worth doing on large scale projects like terrain.
Keep the comments coming and also I am thinking my guard camo patteren on the knight crusader... would something that big look stupid camo'd?

Hairspray technique looks good on the floor - as you say, that and sponging really useful for terrain stuff.
As to camo on the crusader I don't see why not
And either does shasolenzabi:

Oh man you are not kidding there, and to my absolute shame I have two large Imperial Sector buildings waiting for me to spray them. Almost a year later and I've used my airbrush for appx 10 minutes. Dave has given up on me completely.

Is there a reason you don't use your airbrush if you don't mind me asking?
I was reluctant to use mine until I discovered Minitaire paints. It takes the guess work out of painting.
Order one bottle. It will change your entire thought process on airbrushing... Trust me.

Very cool! Unfortunately it will not match my current camo pattern so free hand it is.
I am interested in some of the other stencils so I will keep my eye on this company.
