The problem with Apocalypse is that it still follows the " GW Rule of Three":
One is none. Two is one. Three is too many.
But, if it helps any? Your scratch-built/kitbashed Leviathan was, clearly, the superior Apocalypse item on the tabletop.
Be proud.

Wehrkind is correct on this. As long as the center hole is still on the table, the blast still has an effect.
The Leviathan (Colossus?) looks great. I haven't seen one of those on a table in Apoc yet.
As for getting blasted so soon...three turns of Apoc is like a lifetime for a Mayfly. Come to think of it, there's Apoc games where I thought a human lifetime had passed before a turn was over.
You can be proud that everyone came gunning for your model.

"What the Feth!" Inquisitor Kuroda ejaculated loudly! "Don't tell me 50 Wraithguard marched on from the table edge and blasted my Leviathan again! I mean seriously, how does that count as a 'strategy'? It's cheating pure and simple."
"Aw come on sir, it's Apocalypse it's all about crazy fun stuff happening."
The Inquisitor spun and planted his Daemon Blade beneath the guardsman's chin.
"Not another word Counts-as-Marbo, Not. One. More. Word."
"Actually m'lord this is just shipping damage from bringing the Leviathan to Trinidad. We're only seeing it now because we never got around to opening the box it was in."
"Oh. Thanks Baron Nimitz. Well what are we going to do about it?"
"Well first we need to do something about those damn dreads and Wraithguard coming in behind us. I suggest we adopt a strategy known to the ancients as 'bubble wrapping'. We shall surround the Leviathan with guardsman so that no one can approach within 12"."
"Bubble wrap?!" The Inquisitor ejaculated loudly. "We'd need like a million billion guys! This thing is huge."
"Actually sir I think we can do with just a 100 guardsmen."
"100, a million billion, either way where are we going to get them?"
"Ebay, swap shop, the bitz box, you'd be surprised."
(several weeks later)
"Where the hell did you get this many guys?" The Inquisitor ejaculated loudly. "Did you raid every brothel in Necromunda?"
"Actually most of them are redemptionists, so we got most of them by promising free fuel canisters. Now we can begin stage two."
"Stage two?!" The Inquisitor ejaculated loudly. "I thought we just had to glue the front back on and all the other stray bitz that fell off."
"Yes m'lord, as you know there have been consistent complaints that this leviathan is too thin and top heavy, plus the fact the main gun is not on a turret had been a significant disadvantage. So let's use this time to really remake this thing, make it a really awesome leviathan."
"Hmm..."
"Tell you what, let's just start some of the repairs and if you don't like how it's going we can stop."
"Well... OK."
(5 minutes later)
Yep, it's back, Fortress Maximus Mk II is go! It'll be 1/3 wider have a turreted main gun and other improvements. I'm going to try and reuse as much of the Mk 1 as I can though. Already it's being a challenge but I think it's a good little way to celebrate a 5 day weekend.

Anyway the two main obstacles here will be plasticard and paint. Even though this whole project is supposed to a simple matter of glueing together existing kits they don't always combine correctly and need lots of plastcard to cover gaps, add support and replace floors. One reason it was so narrow was so I could use the bastion floors for it and because it was hard to get plasticard long and wide enough for it. So now I'm ignoring my earlier wisdom and doing it in a country where I can't get plasticard and it will take a month to ship from the US. Maybe I'll stop by the hardware store and see what they have that might work. And paint, at least acrylic modeling paints, just can't be gotten here and my paints are not in great shape after being hauled around the world a few times. I got some more last time I was home but I worry about running out of a critical color. We shall see...

well...there are those that would argue that working with cardboard or plasticcard would be a way of cheating just these above mentioned problems
if you are indeed as your flag shows stationed in trinidad? then for more materials i would advice maybe the cardboard as earlier mentioned or try to get recycling junk from food packages...but i think cardboard would be the best substitute ...glued with superglue i think you will overcome your suply shortages in no time...
and well... i just have a thing for super heavies... and yours is totally up my alley

"Double yu-Tee-Eff!" Inquisitor Kuroda ejaculated loudly. "Some minor repairs you said! A few modifications! What in the name of the Emperor's DVD collection did you do?"
"Well sir, we found we needed to do a bit more work than originally anticipated..." Lord Militant Omar Hideosh explained. "But we're making excellent progress. For example you may recall the 'Wraith Guard Incident"..."
"50 Zombie Space Elfs walking in behind us and zapping us with 50 wraith cannons from inside our void shields... yeah i remember it."
"Well if they try that again..."
"They'll get a taste of our new rear mounted heavy bolters!"
"Rear mounted heavy bolters? you are aware that zombie space elfs have a 3+ save right? I mean if we're already spending 2000 points on one tank why not give it a weapon people will respect, plasma cannons or assault cannons?"
"Oh... but you see according to the fluff-"
"According to the fluff this is supposed to be this huge invincible war engine and not the sort of thing that gets taken down on turn one!"
"We'll uh, see what we can do. In the meantime we're about to lay down the main deck, care to see?"
"Oh-Em-Gee!" Inquisitor Kurodo ejaculated loudly! "It's huge!"
"33% wider than the original" Tech priest Sony explained.
"However keep in mind that it is just a thin sheet of plasticard." Tech Priest Samsung began. "We need to make sure no one tries to put a whole metal 2nd edition IG ar-"
"This is awesome!" Inquisitor Kuroda ejaculated loudly. "I can fit like my whole 2nd edition metal Tallarn army up here and have room left over my Necromunda gangs!"
"We'd best start reinforcing it" Tech Priest Sony finished.
-----------------------------------------
Well progress continues, it took a surprisingly long time to get this far manhandling bitz and pieces to fit together and stay together.
The main deck will get Icarus lascannon mounts and some other bits and bobs as well as an impressive door I just finished painting.
One thing I'm doing differently this time is actually painting as I assemble. this beast is much too big to build then paint like I did last time.

i love your colorful story around this build... but i can´t help thinking that the thoughts of yon inquisitor are not that far away from the truth...
bolters are of course a first god step... but what about installing some nice and hot flamers? wouldn´t that be nice too?
also... since the bolters are the first line of defence for your backdor so to speak.... some more backfacing means of hurt on some higher level wouldn´t...er... hurt too...?
oh... the new sponsons by the way appear to be round in shape? while your earlier sponsons on the side are more angular/ trapeze shaped... intentional?
but don´t get my sour sounding comments to confuse you...i damn well love your work!
more of it... you truly are a battle poet^^

Yeah... I thought about swaping all the bolters for something with a bit more umph, plasma cannons or assault cannons for instance but in the end I wanted to keep with the Epic stats for it. Besides it will have 100+ Guardsmen inside with flamers and plasma and the like, as well as hell hounds and chimeras and other tanks flanking it. So it should be fine.
also... since the bolters are the first line of defence for your backdor so to speak.... some more backfacing means of hurt on some higher level wouldn´t...er... hurt too...?
I actually kept the rear with lower armor (AV12) and weapons because I wanted there to be a tactical dimension to taking it down. If someone can get behind they deserve some reward. of course that was before I knew about the 'march on from the back' strategem in Apocalypse.
oh... the new sponsons by the way appear to be round in shape? while your earlier sponsons on the side are more angular/ trapeze shaped... intentional?
The sides are bastion walls which come with little cylinders for heavy bolters. For the rear I just used the cylinder in a normal window, both to show the lower armor... and cause I'm out of bastion walls.

"What do you mean it's not square!" Tech Priest Suzuki ejaculated loudly! "How can it not be square?"
"It seems that the Shrine of the Aquila pieces when arranged in a 3 sided box one side is 1/8 of an inch shorter than the other." Tech Priest Sony replied.
"Didn't anyone check?!?"
"Um..."
"Well..."
"We were kind of happy that it held together without falling apart."
"Well that's nothing to do about it now." Tech Priest Suzuki concluded. "I shall have to perform the Rite of Honda Kiri and throw my self under a passing CRV. Farewell cruel world! May my parts be recycled in a more worthy vessel!" (exit stage right, sound of shrieking brakes and an impact, screams, sirens, people running)
"Well now what?" Tech Priest Samsung asked. "We're already a week behind schedule! Inquisitor Kuroda will have our Bucky Balls!"
"Yeah, Honda Kiri is looking pretty sweet right now huh..."
"Maybe he'll be distracted by this way cool Eagle and lettering?"
"We can only hope."
--------------------------------------------------------------
So yeah... a 3' long model and the damn thing is an 1/8 of an inch off. AN EIGHTH OF AN INCH! So I finally added some plastic rod to the back to even out the sides and hope no one (but me) notices...

It is but once it's covered with crew it will look a lot different. I use models as damage counters and remove them as it loses structure points.
Hmmm, I should add some shield toting guys to mark off the void sheilds...
Anyway I still have to add the AA guns as well.
