Subject: Scarper's Scavenging Necro / Post-apoc Gangs: Sump bridge and a zombie attack! 21/4
I believe that is an Athern HO scale bridge kit right? Slightly more expensive than the cheap ATLAS kits, but nice!
Nice rivets...but I think you need
MOAR rivets

Thanks a bunch for the kind words guys, much appreciated!
@Bruticus - Afraid I couldn't tell you where the bridge is from - I got it for £3 off eBay from a gent who was cleaning out his garage. From the dust coating them when they turned up, I'd say they'd been in there for a while! Cheers for the tip - I've not done much playing with magnets, but I was thinking of trying some out for this project. Not sure I'll want a sump river flowing through the middle of every game...
And I am not going to discourage you from making more necro terrain - I can always use more inspiration! You can't quite cover an 8'x8' table yet, can you? True necromunda afficianados wouldn't stop until there was no room to move in the room you'd built it in
@LDD - Thanks a ton, man, much appreciated! Zombie posing is a lot of fun, and I maybe do some pantomiming to try out the poses when there's no one around
@nathanie - Thanks! The zombies are mostly flaggelant, catachan and cadian parts with a fair bit of GS to angle the bodies and slacken the limbs a little. I'll try and get a better shot and a parts list for you when i get home.
@Dave - Could well be, I've no idea! MOAR rivets?! Is that just revenge for everyone posting that all over your own threads? I'm running out of plasticard rod for the rivets at the mo - there's got to be about 30-40 on that scaffold structure alone! Quick trip to the FLGS around the corner will sort me out, I'm sure.

I must apologise for losing track a wee while ago Scarp but I promise I am again following avidly. Your gaming table looks scrumptious
Run a whole lot of wfrp and other rpg's, play The Woods and Kill Team, gather and look mournfully at imperial guard knowing I'll never finish enough to use them on the tabletop

A rotating bridge.....will have to make one myself. Im so glad there are so many great projects for necromunda going on dakka dakka right now, it's really gotten me back into the gaming craze.
I must admit its been too long since I've read the rule book and scenarios so I'll have to do moar research into the toll bridge, but your work is inspirational.
Really digging the sniper perch on top of the bridge.

I may be wrong, but...
The bottom one is the Atlas, the middle one is unknown, and the top one is Athern
..I THINK...
Don't be afraid to look into O scale (Lionel) either, rivets work in any scale

I scored a bunch of the bottom ones myself. Got to check out other local train shops. Found an o scale motorized gantry crane... But at $250 I can live without it.

@Cap'n R - Not at all, it's not exactly a requirement! And you may hopefully have a vested interested in that table improving in future
@Monkeytroll - Thanks a lot! Chuffed that you enjoyed it.
@Theophony - Thank you, that's really kind to say! Dakka has a fantastic necromunda scene, and most of my ideas tend to be amalgamations of other people's ones anyway The toll bridge isn't one of the RB scenarios - I think it was released in one of the magazines they did, not sure. Have you found yakromunda yet? Fantastic website and well worth a sign-up. They've got the community ed rules, and a free PDF download of pretty much every necro scenario or rule that's ever existed. Give it a look!
@Dave - The bridge bits say 'Tri-ang' in small letters on the side - I was just about to scrape them off, but I thought it might be useful info for you! I'm clueless about model trains - is that a company?
The following shot is for Nathanie - will do my best to go through what's in each one.
Spoiler:
From left to right
Zombie 1 - Dragon forge african american head carved to fit a FW cadian helmet; Body and legs from cadian command squad, some carving and GS for the angle; Arms are flagellant kit and cadian command with the angle adjusted
Zombie 2 - Pig iron legs; cadian torso and ?right arm; Cadian command left arm; catachan command head and flamer tanks
Zombie 3 - Empire free company legs with the angle changed; Half a flagellant torso; Flagellant right arm and cadian rifle; Catachan head; Probably flagellant left arm
Zombie 4 - Catachan arms, legs and torso with some reposing and GS; FW cadian backpack with some grey stuff backpack straps; Dragon forge african american head with GS mask
Zombie 5 - Nice and simple. FW chaos renegades trophy with catachan legs and a ton of GS Zombie 6 - Empire free company legs with necron right foot; Cadian torso; Empire free company right arm with catachan hand; left arm Anvil industries bionic; Pig iron gas mask head.
Hope that helps - hopefully you can see that you can use basically any parts - it's all in the movement and angle of the head!
And finally, a few smaller walkways I've been putting together for my tin can towers:
Hope you like, and please let me know what you think!

@scarper I have found yakromunda, haven't posted there yet, and have made use of the terrain saved there. Will look more at the scenarios and such this week.
Like the bridges. Is that alumn. Window screening your using for the mesh?

Hell man it's already pretty orgasm-inducing from where I'm standing. I've only played on one other custom-built Necro board, and that was tasty, but I can see the love in yours
Speaking of love, could you take a gander at my currently dainty wee plog sometime? I've finally got on the case - I'll try and find some Necro minis to put on there soon as well, maybe include their stats at their time of retirement and a bit of history as well.

Great looking stuff there Scarp. You gained my respect a long time ago and that remains unchanged with every project. You do amazing and inspiring things.

@Theophony - It's an amazing resource, so handy to have everything there. It is indeed aluminium mesh - got some off eBay for a song.
@Shaso - It has indeed! They're a really fun part of the setting, and well... I just like zombies
@LDD - Well spotted, I missed that. It's a hand from one of the studio miniature multi part plastics, to be exact. Good eye if you got the rest though! You're a walking bits encyclopedia
@Nate - Hahaha, it was a typo mate, honest. Though Nathanie does have a certain ring to it... Looking forward to seeing what you do with your own zombies!
@Dave - Well found, that certainly looks like the bit, though I'm missing the struts and the cross braces. Still, £3 (maybe $5?), so I'm not complaining!
@Cap'n Roderick - Well thank you kindly, that's really good to hear! I did not know that you'd started a blog - give me a second to finish this up and I'll be all over it!
@Two Spartan - Thanks man! Glad you like it - The nest was a lot of fun to put together.
@Skalk - It was your use of railway bridges for your awesome hazard stripe bridge that got me to bid on the tresses in the first place! That is a massive compliment though, and I really appreciate it, thank you. Hope I can keep it going
@Vik - Hahaha, I think you may have said something similar when I posted the last batch! Thank you for the kind words.
Showed the start of this a little while ago, but I've been making more progress on the shanty housing and ruins. It's still very WiP (a lot to do on the floor, in particular), but this is as far as I'm getting tonight.
Hope you like!
Please let me know what you reckon - there will be a few more homely details around the shanty before I'm done
