That model is so great - 5 oclock shadow stubble, rusty laspistol and grimy workgear. I love his hat.

I think you've been doing this for so long you are becoming a pro - Can I commision you some time to sculpt/kitbash me a model?

@Scrazza - Thanks so much! And your first line was a very fancy way to say "he looks depressed"

@Shaso - Very kind, thank you! And the foot wasn't actually that sore - it was more of an "did that just happen?" moment than anything else!

@LDD - Those are some really kind words, thank you! And the harm was unintentional, rest assured. The torso is one of Victoria's Victorian torsos with some hack and slash / rebuilding around the collar area. Fun set - think I'll be getting my hands on some of the new resin ones soon!

@Vik - That made me laugh loads - I'm sure the kit on his back is just for morale building camp fires and toasting marshmallows. Thank you for the compliment!

@Peyma - Not too far off! Some fluff to come soon, actually - I want to get down what actually happened to Riff, but I'm struggling a little. Think it's been too long since I wrote something! Thanks very much for the kind words, mate, much appreciated.

@Dr H - Thank you! I'm trying to use some more muted tones all around, now that I'm trying to work in some layering and mixing my own colours. The day glo tones on some of my previous models were fairly unintentional

@Theo - Don't talk about 'oozing' until I've finished my antibiotics Thanks you for the kind words.

@Weety - Thanks a bunch for that offer, I'm really flattered! At the rate I currently work at though (it's been, what, a month since my last post?), it would probably be a year or two until you saw a return. And I can't keep giving myself stab wounds to facilitate extra modelling time! Have you tried your hand at much greenstuff work yourself? Would be sacrilege on some of those RT models, but I'd love to see what you could do!

@Neil - He's wearing the jumper just for you Really glad you like.

@Dave - Much appreciated, thank you! I will do my best.

Back at work today, as my foot fitted in a shoe again. So good news all round!

Also - anyone happen to know of a good spray matte varnish that WILL NOT FRIGGING FROST UP available in the UK? Just had to a fair bit of repair work on Mr. Coop (don't worry, he's fine!), and it's happened too many frigging times, so my Krylon matte finish is going out the window. I'd love any top tips!

He looks great, very nicely painted face especially and that model has a great expression.

I don't know about a primer except that the GW satin one is not really very noticeably shiny. I don't usually bother varnishing though. Or when I do, I paint it on or spray it though an airbrush as I haven't seen matte sprays in the UK either.

I use hi-cote matt acrylic car primer spray from the local hardware store - I don't know what they think I do with all that car primer! Anyway having tried army painter and GW spray I'm convinced that the cheap car spray is the best.

Don't worry scarper I won't mutilate any antiques - I will get some plastic kits like what you use!

Thanks a lot guys, for the tips and the kind words.

Just a quick photo today, best of a bad bunch. Some basing done, a weapon or two added to other models, and the 21st Jackals are complete!

and only 3 years and 8 months since Skragg, the first of em, appeared WiP on this blog. Told you I work slow!

Fairly top heavy and some fairly dire gangers carrying very expensive gear, but I was modelling for fun, rather than gameplay!

Awesome. Except... income bracket cut-off is at 9 members and you have 75 creds in the bank - surely there is room for one more member of the crew?

There are rules for attack pets around as well, you could use the dog.

@Bruticus - A top tip, thank you! I'm actually saving up for a dog atm. About to start a new campaign type thing (hopefully!), and you can only buy a mutt after the first skirmish. I'll be sure to post her up once she's painted!

Love the group shot! They seem so much like they are less a "Gang" more a bunch of survivors

I'd suggest using Anthony Case's Attack Pets.pdf rather than the other dog rules - in which case you can buy a hound right away. I'd also suggest adding a house rule - you can always choose not to shoot at a pet even if it is the nearest target. Otherwise pets can be quite annoying to play against.

Thank you so much for all the kind words, guys, they are all really, really appreciated.

@Bruticus - I think I've seen those rules before, but not for a while. Will have to dig them out again - thanks again for the tip.

@LDD - I have indeed, and they are beautiful! Maybe a little high tech for Caitiff though

@Castiel - Mate, I would absolutely love to head back to the ELG, but now that I'm working, my hours just won't allow it. Are you posting reports and that up anywhere? I'd love to watch from the sidelines anyway!

@Neil - LONG overdue. I'll have to get back in gear! I'll have to see what I can do over the next couple of days.

Again, thank you for all the comments - you're all very kind!

Managed to get a game in with Cpn Roderick over the weekend (thanks again if you're reading, man - it was a lot of fun!), which let the Jackals see their first fully painted outing. It went fairly well, with Twitch taking the opposing gang leader out of action with an incredibly lucky shot and Skragg rolling a statistically ridiculous number of 6s, but was pretty close fought all the way through.
After the game, though, I purchased a mutt from the local traders, and a new juve ganger was kicked out of one of the settlements.

So two new models to paint already! This is Ivy, and the mutt with her is Fluke. They have a little backstory to come (hopefully by Weds!).

As you can see, she's pretty tiny.

Hope you guys like them - I'm really looking forward to painting them up! I've got a few character touches in mind for Ivy, and I reckon they'll be a lot of fun. As ever, I'd love to know what you think - any comments and criticism are much appreciated!

Great. I really like it when juves look like juves, it's difficult to do using say, GW plastic kits and they grow up so fast that they tend to get forgotten about. But I think it adds a lot to the flavour when there are teenagers running around cluelessly.

Yes - it is a game about gangs so you really need the teenage contingent for authenticity. And its fun to have some cannon fodder.

She looks cool - is that a sawn-off double barrel?

Read a book called fluke once - that was about a dog.

I haven't put up anything yet, but I'll need to try. You can also probably grab a game at the Games Hub in Lauriston on a Friday night between 5-10pm if you can make it along.

I never really saw Juves as Teenagers. I always saw them to be 11 or 12. I reckon the gangers them selves are in their teens.

Scarper I salute you for completing the Jackals and starting a few young uns.

Hoi Hoi Scarp,
I was absolutely certain you were handing me my ass all the way through, but it ended up pretty close in the end. A well deserved win on your part though!
Now to try and get some time for a bit of painting myself, so my dudes don't look so hapless next to your awesome chappies. I might even try and do a similar basing scheme in the end, for joyful overlap

Looking forward to trying to flame your new juve in a few weeks...

Thank you so much for all the kind words everyone - you're all far too nice, and you're in danger of giving me an ego It is much appreciated nonetheless!

I do really enjoy what juves add in terms of flavour, even if the ruleset basically supports using them as walking meatshields. So much more fun when you have a tough ganger who limped their way up from juve, riddled with bullets and full of personality.

Bit of a change of tack (briefly), but I finished basing all the zombicide figures I've painted so far, and I thought I'd show them off here. Really fun to work on with leftover green stuff from other projects, or quick things to pain between more detailed works. They're all quite speed painted and you've seen some before, but here are the groups I've been working towards so far. They'll all grow in size - I'm hoping to eventually be able to do a themed set of zombies for various areas and scenarios

Hospital

Office / business

Casual dress / non-specific

Retail

Military

Road / Construction

The smaller groups will obvs get more members in time. Hope you like them!

@Capn R - You'll have the fangs of Fluke to get past first
Can't wait to see some more of your gang with paint on - update your blog!
