I thought I'd give a quick update. Been starting the process of cleaning up my studio. It'd gotten so messy that I really just couldn't stand to be in there. It's going to be a long haul to get it back into shape, but once I do... painting will resume as normal. It's a large room piled high with junk... but I'm getting there. Will probably do a major room rearrangement somewhere along the way too once the debris has been removed.

Thanks for checking back in.

Wait, can it still be a studio without piles of junk and clutter? I thought they were mandatory for any workroom?

To a degree, but then it just got depressing...

I can empathise with the issues of clutter in the workspace. Someimes a good clean out can jst lift the cobwebs and help clear the mind as much as anythng.
When it gets to the stage where you open the door, look inside and go Ugh! I'd rather cleann the oven/ do the ironing/ vacuuming, then you shut the door & walk away... You know its time to de-clutter
Plus sometimes you find thise missing gems that you had forgotten aout too!

Just take all the junk and start welding it together until you get a stompa or gargant. Works for the orks, right?

I do feel your pain. Behind my primary workbench (which is cluttered, but not too bad) I’ve got an old desk that’s been buried under one to two feet of random stuff since I moved into my house some 15 years ago. It’s the nature of horizontal space to accumulate stuff. And I’d rather do almost anything but clean. I try to break it down and do small bits. Last summer my goal was to spend an hour a day either doing lawn work or cleaning the basement. That kinda worked.

It is a good exercise to do the clean sweep. I like it when I can find things. Look forward to your renewal !

I dream of the day when I can have a dedicated hobby corner. With lots and lots of shelves. Keep after it, a clean(ish) hobby space always makes you want to get down to work.

Cleaning needs to be my next project. I think I need more shelving and storage. The problem is when you clean and organize stuff, but then have nowhere to put it.

How do you organize your stuff?

Not very well, with the exception of my marine and Ork bits.

I bought large mult compartment bead boxes. I pretty much bit out every box. ( mostly marines). The issue become more difficult when you have multiple armies (or multiples of multiples).

Get things cleaned up and back into painting those centurions. The Ork codex will be out soon so hopefully it'll provide you with some momentum.

Meanwhile I'll hold out for a 'Fools' drop pod!

I can just see you sat in the middle of a room, surrounded by boxes of bits...
Picking up a bit, looking at it, "Marine" and throwing it into one corner of the room, picking up another piece, "Ork" and thowing that into the opposite corner...

In my own defense... my bits are painfully well organized.

I have three of these. 2 for marines, 1 for orks.

I'm using tackleboxes, but I know that I'll need to move in that direction sooner rather than later.

I’m in the same boat. Tackleboxes are nice, but when it takes forever to dig though them to find the right bit, even when they are sorted, it might be time to move on to something larger. I’ve got some of those old drawer things I used to use to hold counters for other games, might be time to re-purpose them...

Hi gits just poping in again; that conversion which you have done on those centurains a few pages back is one of the best I've seen.

Thanks to you, I cleaned my work room this weekend! Sorted out some of the boxes of terrain materials. Where did all this stuff come from?

How is your progress coming?

@HAZ: Thanks mate!

@SL: Glad I could provide some kind of inspiration!

Sorry guys, haven't looked at my figures in a couple of weeks. A few problems... 1) it's the beginning of my fields season, so I'm spending all day out in the hinterlands rather than popping on to Dakka occasionally like usual, 2) been a ton to do around the house and with my family, which has taken a good amount of my free time (which I'm perfedtly happy about), and 3) I made the mistake of re-loading "Fallout - New Vegas" on my compurter. I'd forgotten how damn good this game is & now that my computer is running slightly faster (added a bit more RAM), it runs a little smoother. So that's really sucked up all of my "free" time.

Truth be told I just haven't been in the mood. I'll get in the mood again eventually... just not quite yet.

Ah, the joys of tornado season. I'm at work and the wife and kids are hunkered down in the basement of a YMCA 10 miles away...

Ouch sorry to hear about the having to hunker down... Don't go storm chasing Gits!!

Hope you all manage to stay safe.

As for the modelling hiatus, take as long as you need, we all need a break from time to time, and probably you more than most... btw, have you run your post-Adepticon Mantis challenge yet?

Anyhoo stay safe, thats the most important thing, models and houses can be replaced, friends and family cannot.... and I hope the tornadoes don't clean your hobbyspace for you!

Hmmm... though to do what I wanted to do... it'll take some substantial work on my part first.

Yeah, stay safe out there Family Gits. And everyone else too.

And we don't mind the wait....it's not that uncomfortable staring at the screen constantly waiting for updates....if I stretch I can reach out the window to collect rainfall to drink, it's not so bad.
