I live a few states to the west of Gits... I'll gladly take blizzards, tornadoes, droughts and grass fires that we get here. It keeps the riff-raff out.

Ooooooh yeah, I like that idea!! No killer spiders, no killer tornadoes... And cake!!! And real beer, none of that fizzy stuff (although you made the beer you got at Adepticon sound especially yummy)

I've actually visited the HQ for the UK's version of the agency I work for. It's outside of York... a city I absolutely fell in love with.

Oh... let me see.... had to be about 10 years ago. I was working on a new tree disease that was affecting both the west coast of the US and the UK. A delegation of governmental hot-shots from the US Dept. of Ag went to Europe (Holland and the UK) to share ideas & negotiate trade terms. They took along 3 plant pathologists from the affected US states... I just happened to be in the hot seat for the State of Washington (not Washington DC) at the time.

Bloody wonderful trip & the only time I've been out of the US (excluding Canada). After hours, we'd wander the streets of York... finding good places to eat and drink & being amazed by the history all around us. Unfortunately since we were working all day, most of the interesting stuff was closed by the time we were free to sight-see. Did check out the outside of Clifford's Tower, The Shambles and had a few pints at The Blue Bell.

If you move to the UK just remember to prime all your models before you go, I hear its a pain to wait six months for a dry day to do that there . I'll keep my storms, tornados, eventual earthquakes (close to the New Madrid fault), some poisonous critters and poor government just so I don't have to call fries /chips, soccer /football, football / rugby and baseball /cricket.....seriously .

Thing one has been watching way too much Top Gear. In casual conversation with me yesterday he referred to an automobile trunk as a "boot" multiple times without even thinking about it.

I actually quite like the differences in the two versions of "English". Gives each variation it's own special character.

Yay for top gear!!! I wish the series would run for more than 6 or 7 episodes though. And the specials tend to be great too.

Just be wary if there is a crane nearby when you are camping and someone is snoring hahaha!!!

And I agree abut the language/ accent thing too.

I'm with Anpu and Theo. Besides with the exchange rate being what it is .. It'll be cheaper top move here.

Is germany on the Euro? Slightly better. Still I prefer Ireland.. at least two Islands away from France.

ps. I love spiders! Any bug that eats other bugs is good to me!

Although everyone moans about the weather over here its not always bad - I swear its not rained in Cornwall for a month now and everyone's wearing factor 50 and constantly BBQing meat. Thermometer reads 23 degrees C today in the shade (thats 74F, pretty warm for the UK).

We actually just had a tornado here today. Broke a couple houses.

Would you have to like soccer if you moved?

And I know UK is a tea culture. Can you still get a good cup of coffee?

The pink army always wins. You beat the pink army? Go ahead and brag about it. You lost to the pink army? Well, then....

Yes you can get a really good cup of coffee here... Besides italian food, we are sharing their passion for coffee.

And no, soccer isn't compulsary, you can like rugby, ice hockey, , hockey, sailing...

Hope it wasn't your house which got trashed.

I think he's talking about field hockey. Played on grass while running around, I think its more like la crosse and less like boxing with a stick while figure skating.
