I live a few states to the west of Gits... I'll gladly take blizzards, tornadoes, droughts and grass fires that we get here. It keeps the riff-raff out.

Not quite, there is a wee bit of sea separating us. And if the sea doesnt people being neighbourss then we also have the dutch, the danes the norwegians, swedes etc, so not all bad..

I've actually visited the HQ for the UK's version of the agency I work for. It's outside of York... a city I absolutely fell in love with.

Yes, York is ace!! Yorvik viking centre andh the place is full of history. Plus tons to do not far out of York too.

When did you come over to the UK?

Oh... let me see.... had to be about 10 years ago. I was working on a new tree disease that was affecting both the west coast of the US and the UK. A delegation of governmental hot-shots from the US Dept. of Ag went to Europe (Holland and the UK) to share ideas & negotiate trade terms. They took along 3 plant pathologists from the affected US states... I just happened to be in the hot seat for the State of Washington (not Washington DC) at the time.

Bloody wonderful trip & the only time I've been out of the US (excluding Canada). After hours, we'd wander the streets of York... finding good places to eat and drink & being amazed by the history all around us. Unfortunately since we were working all day, most of the interesting stuff was closed by the time we were free to sight-see. Did check out the outside of Clifford's Tower, The Shambles and had a few pints at The Blue Bell.

If you move to the UK just remember to prime all your models before you go, I hear its a pain to wait six months for a dry day to do that there . I'll keep my storms, tornados, eventual earthquakes (close to the New Madrid fault), some poisonous critters and poor government just so I don't have to call fries /chips, soccer /football, football / rugby and baseball /cricket.....seriously .

You forgot calling a sedan a saloon & a saloon a pub!

There is also: hood = bonnet, trunk = boot, Aluminum = aluminium, baseball = rounders tomahto = tomayto Its a veritable minefield!!

Thing one has been watching way too much Top Gear. In casual conversation with me yesterday he referred to an automobile trunk as a "boot" multiple times without even thinking about it.

I actually quite like the differences in the two versions of "English". Gives each variation it's own special character.

Yay for top gear!!! I wish the series would run for more than 6 or 7 episodes though. And the specials tend to be great too.

Just be wary if there is a crane nearby when you are camping and someone is snoring hahaha!!!

And I agree abut the language/ accent thing too.

Is germany on the Euro? Slightly better. Still I prefer Ireland.. at least two Islands away from France.

I've noticed I have been using the word "rubbish" a lot... Must be rubbing off on me too. I blame Clarkson.

Although everyone moans about the weather over here its not always bad - I swear its not rained in Cornwall for a month now and everyone's wearing factor 50 and constantly BBQing meat. Thermometer reads 23 degrees C today in the shade (thats 74F, pretty warm for the UK).
