Hi gang, back.

First they tried to drown us by sinking our boat, then they tried to burn us out by lighting our cabin on fire... and finally they tried to feed us to wolves. But NO! The Gitsplitta's SURVIVED VACATION! Who knew northern Minnesota was it's own death world? I feel like we've passed some kind of initiation ritual for a space marine chapter.

I've got 3 high-priority projects to work on at the moment. Ork storm boyz, IG conscripts for my AdMech, and getting the Deus Ex pinned & magnetized so she can be used. That's what you should be seeing soon.

Actually, not joking.

1) Leaky hull plug meant that my boat was slowly sinking all week (but never quite went under due to abundance of foam in the hull and the ballast pump, which eventually died). While this isn't really life-threatening... it did foreshadow what was to come.
2) Our cabin caught on fire. Luckily we were in it at the time and had notified resort owner within a few minutes of it starting (thanks to the swift feet of Thing 1). Brother-in-law (trained fire-fighter) shut off gas & electric & they gathered extinguishers from several cabins before opening the door to an externally accessed utility room where the water heater was busily setting fire to things.
3) The new cabin they moved us to was right in the middle of where multiple wolves had been spotted coming into the resort at night for over a week... to the point where they actually had to have U.S. Gov't trappers come in a set snares to catch the wolves as they were presenting a direct threat to people (especially kids) who wander the beach & paths between cabins and the lodge at night.

However, the last night we were there sitting around a fire on the beach in front of my B-in-law's cabin... and we heard the wolves howling all around us (at a safe enough distance to really enjoy the novelty of it). That was cool. We have tons of coyotes around our place, but had never heard a real wolf howl in person before.

Bloody hellfire mate. Glad y'all are ok.

Quite an adventure Gitz, glad you made it home safely, You did not tell us though how the fishing was.

We had more fish than we knew what to do with... literally. That's not counting all the small ones we tossed back.

Really glad you made it through. Obviously not ideal, but one heck of a bunch of memories.

Sounds like you had an interesting time away. Perhaps you could use the extra fish to keep the wolves fed and happy

As an Eagle Scout who has camped in Northern Minnesota a lot, you guys did well.
Sometime I'll have to tell you the story about trying to take casts of bear tracks... I'll just say that the bears had different ideas.

@Sigur: Nice to have to back my friend. Yep, orks will be making a return. Next two weeks will be unexpectedly tough to get anything done as my parents are visiting for both weekends... so it's work-clean house-sleep, rinse and repeat followed by visit-visit-visit on the weekends. Doesn't leave much time for hobbying.

At least it wasn't a "boring" holiday... don't get that kind of excitement in Skegness (for example).

Holy dude, pyromaniac wolves sabotaging your boat and breaking into your place .....I may have skipped every other word while reading , but I'm glad you escaped with a good story to tell .
